Shell Island Fish Camp stands out as a unique destination for fishing, hunting, and sightseeing, boasting a rich history that spans over 70 years. Established in the 1950s by a member of the local Lynn family, Mr. Bo Lynn, the camp originally served as both a fishing haven and a duck hunting retreat. Following Mr. Lynn's tragic passing in a boating accident, the camp was sold to Rufus Bullock, who managed it for a brief period. The camp was later acquired by Alex and Gazzie Hobbs from Georgia, who significantly contributed to its development. They built many of the structures that visitors enjoy today. The legacy continued with their son, Mr. Alan Hobbs, who, along with his wife Ruthie, operated the camp for several years. Eventually, the camp transitioned to Alex's grandson, Jimmy Beavis, and his wife Sherie, who maintained the family tradition until June 6, 2021. For three generations, the Hobbs family nurtured Shell Island Fish Camp, preserving its charm and appeal.
