J and P Creekside Retreat

My mother had two criteria for where we stayed: cold A/C and a soft bed. This place exceeded both expectations beautifully. The bathroom close to the cabin was a plus.

J&P is a beautiful, quiet, and pleasant place. The host was very helpful and friendly. My dog had a unique experience, free range, playing with other dogs, and the kids had a blast fishing and exploring. There were no mosquitoes. All the facilities were clean and accessible. I highly recommend it. We will visit again.

Our experience was excellent. Mr. John was super friendly and accessible at all times. The place was beautiful, peaceful, with the sound of birds and nature. The kids fished, played, and swam. The dogs felt free the whole time. We had a wonderful experience. I definitely recommend it! We will definitely visit again! Thanks, John. We had a great time.🥰

The Best Hidden Gem So Far..

Phenomenal spot!! 10/10 would recommend. Especially creekside A campsite. We basically had the whole back area to ourselves. Very secluded, very quiet. The bathroom was super clean and had AC if you want to sneak in for a quick break from the heat. The outdoor shower was a nice touch. We rented the two man Kayak and went up the river a couple miles. Fish were jumping out the water is was so full of fish. John was an excellent Host and I even offered us to stay a little longer after check out since he didn’t have anyone else coming in after us. We paid for 4 bundles of wood and John’s son damn cut us down a whole tree!!! lol awesome:) we had a blast, definitely lots of mosquitoes for about an hour after the sun goes down being by the river and all but after that clear sky’s and good times. Definitely would recommend any family especially with kids to stay at this campsite. They even had a little trees house for the kiddos to chill in. Very cool. Good WiFi service too. This Memorial Day will be remembered forever. Thanks John!!!

This was our last round of camping in Florida before heading north to Georgia, and J&P Creekside Retreat is an awesome place for camping! We have called it “magical” … with the majestic oak trees along the Shell Creek and all kinds of fauna and wildlife near the creek banks. The hosts John and Patty are friendly, kind, helpful, and attentive to any of your needs, and son JJ goes out of his way to keep the grounds so beautiful. If you are looking for a great camping retreat in Southwest Florida, this is the one! 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!

Sweet spot for camping and swimming

We had a relaxing and fun time at J & P’s campground! He has it set up with chairs, picnic tables, and a hammock which is so nice to have all that already there so we could get our camper parked and then chill out and enjoy the peaceful campsite. We were able to use the lights and fan in our camper but the voltage was not strong enough to run our AC. We stayed on A which has a kayak access at the site and it’s just a couple minutes walk to the dock and swimming area. Unfortunately we couldn’t have a fire because there was a “no burn” in effect because of the drought FL is in right now. We only stayed one night but I would’ve loved to stay one or 2 more nights :) We hope to go back!

John's creekside property is a slice of paradise! And John is the ultimate host making sure we felt completely at home on his beautiful property. Love that there are kayaks available, plenty of space to sit,relax, surrounded by beautiful flowers, plants, and birds viewing the creek, not only at our beautiful site but in the large backyard where the outdoor bar, firepit, treehouse, and dock with sundeck were. The half bath was airconditioned and impeccable and the outdoor shower has a privacy fence. Our site even had a hammock, charcoal grill, and plenty of chairs around firepit and tables. A true gem. Perfect for family gatherings!

The best kept secret for dog lovers

John and his family have spent so much time and put so much love into the grounds. If you are a dog lover and have a well behaved dog....this place is pure heaven. I just stayed in the A-frame for 3 nights- to celebrate my 50th birthday. I had friends drive across the coast to stay as well, and they rented out the Hideaway Camp spots in addition to Creekside B. Everyone is far enough away that you feel secluded...but the little paths and trails take you where you need to go by foot quickly and easily. We played on the trampoline. Swang on the swings. Laid in the hammocks. Jumped off the dock and swam in Shell Creek. We went on a sunset cruise with JJ and had a blast. We had so much fun just hanging out on John and Patty's property...that we didn't even find the time to use the kayaks we rented from them. The A-frame is unbelievable. I want to live there. T.v. A.C. Ice maker. Kerig coffee machine. Little fridge. Little microwave. Queen size air mattress upstairs...king size bed downstairs. The cutest deck you ever did see. Our own private flush toilet and sink with mirror. And a little outdoor sink with an attached hose for dishes and dog baths! My dog was also celebrating his 3rd birthday and he just had a blast with the resident dog Roxy. Every morning he would go out and find his doggie pals for a short game of zoomies and chase, before looping back. I made the BEST memories here!! Thank you John, Patty and JJ!! Best luck for the future. We will be back!!!

The Hideaway

We had a wonderful stay at The Hideaway! The campsite was exactly as described—well-maintained, spacious, and private, with beautiful creek frontage (though access to the water was limited due to brush). It was conveniently located near the shower, bathroom, and public areas, which made things easy. John was a fantastic host—friendly, responsive, and thoughtful. He had everything ready for us, including kayak rentals and even a lovely sunset pontoon cruise on the scenic creek. The site comfortably fit our three small tents and vehicles, with extra amenities like a picnic table, chairs, a hammock, and even a power cord—wish I had brought a hot pot! Some of my friends noticed light road noise since the site is near the entrance, but it didn’t bother me. We were part of a larger birthday celebration and may have been a bit loud at times, but John remained gracious and accommodating throughout. Everyone was especially excited that dogs were welcome—J and P’s pups were the sweetest! Morning coffee by the river while birdwatching was a personal highlight. I’d absolutely recommend this spot and hope we get the chance to return (hopefully a little quieter next time!). Thank you for hosting us!

Creekside A was a great location next to the river and close to the bathroom and shower. The bathroom and shower were perfect, and the signage on the property especially around the community area sets this place on our visit again list for sure. Creekside A and B are be perfect to both to give two groups privacy but still be close enough for friendly interaction. John and his son were very helpful and friendly, and we loved talking to them.

Out in Nature, Secluded & Spacious

We went tent camping and two spots were open next to each other, A and B. John said we could pick the one we wanted since A was not booked for the evening. It was right by the creek and was spacious, quiet and offered great privacy. Other than John, we only saw a dog that came into the site, since dogs are free to roam off leash. John was hospitable and showed us to the site and explained the rest room and shower were at the back of his house. Pleasant stay, thanks John!

This is a wonderful Campsite. It’s laid out very well with many activities available. It’s shady and well kept. The amenities are awesome, including the outdoor shower and available power to the sites. John and John were welcoming and very helpful. Thank you John, I will certainly return to your campsite again.

The Hideaway

AMAZING PLACE. So quiet and well kept. We enjoyed every second, even the rain. We were at the Hideaway. Very secluded and private. The bathroom was pristine. Outside shower was hot and wonderful. The launch for our canoe was fine and the creek was serene and easy to paddle. Pet Friendly!!!! Only comment… Would be nice to have an optional wee light in the shower, maybe a mirror.

A very pleasant place, great for relaxing. The place is very well-equipped and clean. All spots have 110-volt power, extremely useful for charging phones and using some cooking equipment. Firewood is very cheap and delivered to your spot. It has a bathroom and a separate shower. It also has a very well-equipped cabin with everything you need and air conditioning. I will definitely return to this hipcamp.

Camping at J&P Creekside Retreat was a wonderful experience! The campsites are very large and all have fire pits plus the outdoor shower is great with hot water. Hosts John and Patty are friendly and really make you feel welcome. The retreat is located on the Shell Creek and the entire place is truly a little piece of country paradise!
