Hoegger’s Hideaway - 501c
Not as advertised.
wasnt anything like advertised. The main reason we booked the place was because it had a shower and bathroom on site like it showes in the photos, but that not true. The building with the shower and toilet is now a storage shed and that was not clear. And as we left to get a hotel 2 men on drugs came and harassed my girlfriend on site. so bad experience and i dont recommend this property.

The location is definitely secluded, but not too far from civilization, if that's what you're after.
You receive directions that will get you to the location, but there isn't any direction for once you are there -where to pitch your tent, the facilities, etc.
On our visit the bathroom (including the flush toilet and shower) was closed, and a portapotty was on site and the hand washing station was empty.
I did not find the communcal kitchen.
Overall, the place seems run down. There is stuff strewn about randomly and there are remnants of what probably was a nice retreat two or three decades ago, before time got the better of it. A solid day or two of cleaning and tidying up could greatly improve the appearance.
We booked for 2 nights but left after the first due to the lack of shower access.

Hoegger’s Hideaway - 501c
We really enjoyed our stay at Hoegger’s Hideaway! It was super easy to find using Google Maps and once you hit the bumpy dirt road, you’ll know you are getting close. Nick met us at the end of his property to guide us in and show us around the area. There are plenty of choices to set up camp. We chose to stay on the opposite side that seemed more private to us and only a short walk over to the main property where the fishing pond is located.
Overall, this was a wonderful rustic experience. The property lends itself to small or large group gatherings with plenty to do on and off the property. There’s a great variety to do on the property, we can see people enjoying some of their off roading toys here or just sitting back and relaxing with a fishing pole in hand. Either way, this place is a great spot to break away from the city but close enough in case you need to make a quick run into town.
One of our highlights was getting to see the veiled chameleons on site. Nick mentioned we could look for chameleons at night when they’re easier to spot with a good flashlight; we didn’t have any luck at night but we enjoyed seeing their beauty during daytime.
Nick was a fantastic and accommodating host. He was also super great with communication. He has been working hard on enhancing the land, and we look forward to seeing the progress. Thanks for sharing your slice of paradise with us!
