Sleep in a piece of history. This fully-restored 1970s truck camper is our most popular site for a reason: it’s got vintage soul with modern cheats. Central A/C, indoor fireplace, electric cooktop, air fryer, Keurig, and WiFi. The bed is comfier than your couch at home. The catch? No indoor running water. Your “bathroom” is small (airplane/boat style) the sink and shower are outside, under the stars. It’s camping with training wheels, not a hotel. If you need marble countertops, book a Marriott in Ocala. If you want to wake up to goats and make coffee while a 50-year-old camper hums its A/C, you’re home. Sleeps 4 inside. Bring a tent for extra crew.

A very solid budget campsite. The goats, pigs, and chickens were great. With the title rescue ranch, it would have been cool to see some more animals, but that can change seasonally. The host was very responsive and helpful. It was a great secluded location that offered good privacy. The property wasn’t in pristine condition, but that’s to be expected when camping on an individual’s land. Overall would recommend!

First and foremost, this was such a peaceful and amazing campsite. Having electric hookups was a huge bonus since most places I camp don’t offer them, and the water hose was only about a two-minute walk away. It really felt like an upgraded primitive camping experience. My daughter wasn’t a fan of the outdoor bathrooms at first since it was her first time camping without plumbing, but she adjusted quickly. There were also several stores within 10 minutes if we needed anything. The area itself was incredibly tranquil. I loved relaxing in my hammock and listening to the cicadas in the evenings. We also visited the rescue animals a few times during our stay, and I absolutely love that the money from bookings helps care for and feed them. There are no roosters on site, so you don’t have to worry about loud crowing early in the morning. You may hear occasional soft animal noises depending on where you’re staying, which I personally found really charming. The campsite had tons of space, and even though other families were staying there, we barely saw anyone. It honestly felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. The location was perfect too — only about 15 minutes from Rainbow Springs and around 30 minutes from Crystal River, which was exactly why we chose this area. Finding a campsite conveniently located near both was ideal. Overall, this was a fantastic stay and we will definitely be back!

My family and I love to camp. We decided to treat ourselves to a little break from our tent and stay in the RV at Happy Campers Rescue Ranch. This was a delightful upgrade from sleeping in a tent! It rained most of the evening and we stayed nice and dry. The mattress was very comfortable and the hosts were friendly. There was a firepit for us to grill our dinner. Great location near state parks!

Overall it was a positive experience. The site was really nice and perfect for tent camping. Just enough shade, but open enough to see the stars at night. Acadio was a great host and I appreciated the power cord. The portable toilet could have been nicer. Thought it was more like an RV toilet but it was literally a bucket with a bag and a seat. The property itself isn't bad but could use some sprucing up to make it look more inviting and not like your camping in someone's back yard. The biggest disappointment was the animal rescue. It was really hyped up and we were excited for a unique experience. But what we found was 2 fenced in pens, 1 had pigs, the other one had 3 goats. There was a pen around the back of the house with a swimming pool in the middle and the only wildlife in there was a chicken. That was it. No petting zoo per se, no dogs, cats, rabbits or any other critters. So that was disappointing and it was the primary reason we chose the location. It's a pretty good drive away from the water, so if you're going to do some paddling be prepared for a 15 mile drive to the closest launch. It really has potential but it is not as advertised.

Overall it's a great property and the animals are awesome! However I reserved cornhole boards, didn't receive and was told I was refunded, but haven't seen that. We didn't know there was a portapotty on-site until we were leaving. That would have saved several trips into town. I picked this site because I wanted a bathroom and showers for our group, but the outdoor shower and toilet are exposed to the elements (not convenient during Florida rains), and not really usable....so we had to spend $68 at a truck stop for 4 showers. Besides these issues, it's a good spot and pretty private.

If you like the feel of being on a farm and tucked away amongst the scrub pine forest, lightning bugs that come out at night and dance in the brush, this is for you. I chose this spot to be close to rainbow river, and it was awesome to have a spot close by yet away from hustle of town. The toilet is a bit rustic, but if you are a true camper, that shouldn't be a problem. I like all the options Arcadio had and he was very responsive the whole time. Kuddos

Both Arcadio and his wife were a pleasure to get to know. They made my husband and I feel like we were longtime friends that they invited to their home. No water but we felt like we had an authentic camping experience. Besides, we were jumping in the spring head every day and floating on a tube down the river. Clean enough for camping in my opinion. Great location for boondockers It was extremely convenient as Arcadio offers for purchase firewood, and farm fresh eggs from the chickens on his farm. He also offers for rent his movie projector and you can pick any movie streaming. It was a very fun experience to watch a movie outside. They have cute pigs and goats. The best is they’re only minutes from Rainbow Springs and KP Hole and he had availability! Something the state park rarely has on a last-minute notice. We only booked two weeks ahead. We will be back.

I loved camping at Sandy stars! There was a tent nearby, but I couldn’t hear them. The directions were really clear. The hosts were amazing and super helpful. We rented a kayak from them. You’re far enough back where you have your space and feel safe but yet still secluded. I highly recommend this site! I highly recommend all sites at this location!

Great great host very accommodating. I really enjoyed my stay there. He and his family made me feel like part of their family and their property. Anytime I needed anything. He was always there to help out and make helpful suggestions. We really enjoyed feeding his animals and thanked him for saving them. He runs a rescue for animals that are unwanted. He allowed us to feed his animals. I’d also like to mention his wife Carla, who is also awesome and if you or your significant other is in need of a great manicure or pedicure, she was able to do that for us during our stay we thoroughly enjoyed that part of our stay. Getting your feet pampered is always a bonus during camping. Thank you again Arcadio and Carla for your friendship and allowing us to stay on your property with our RV, we had a great time and we will definitely come back

The owner was awesome. Camp site is pretty primitive but close by to all the places you want to be. Also got to say hello to the pigs. Having electricity was so helpful. I'd say its a good place to stay for a couple nights. Then you might start craving more of toilet. This one is a bucket literally lol.

Nice owner, quick responses, unique property! Great value felt private despite the propertys main home & other campsites being nearby, some areas on the property could require four-wheel drive, make sure to communicate with the owner so you don't get stuck. The camper while approaching it was small, but once inside found it to be roomier than expected, you need to find something this old, in good condition. Unexpected Plus the bed was very comfy!!
