Gate to the Keys

A gem of a HipCamp that is a perfect stop before heading to the Keys. Really enjoyed a quick overnight stay. The site itself is secluded and really great looking. The only issues are a little tight entry gate for any longer RVs. There was also some noice from a next door property in the morning, but I would definitely say not the fault of the host. Last thing is road right outside the property is not the best maintained gravel road, but it is ok if you go slow, and only a couple of hundred feet from the Main Street to the property.

Sandra and Joe were great! Sandra was quick to respond to messages. They were very understanding when we had RV issues and had to arrive after dark. Joe came out and helped with the gate and letting us know where to park. The grounds were beautiful. Our dog was very welcome there. Definitely would recommend them to anyone looking for a peaceful place to stay.

Amazing place to stay

With my family I had three nights at the peacock site. Joe helped us to back in and explained the fruits in his garden. The site was very beautiful and peaceful. I can highly recommend this place when you want to visit the everglades and have a relaxing site. As the site name already tells you, there is a Peacock running around. Sometimes you can also hear a rooster from the neighbour. We where in mosquito high season and inside the everglades where millions, but just a few minutes away at peacock site it was okay. Also without knowing before a lot of other activities can be reached within minutes. My family and I where really happy and would always book this site again

Beautiful trees

I was greeted upon arrival and offered guidance with parking. I enjoyed a peaceful stay in this lovely green space. The fruit trees and palm trees are lovely. The electric hook-up was great for keeping cool in the Florida heat. The property is fenced and I felt safe during my stay. Plenty of room to walk my dog. The road is a little rough but I didn’t have any problems navigating a class C RV. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again when traveling to the keys.

Beautiful and peaceful

Sandra and Joe have a little piece of paradise and we were so happy to spend a couple of nights there. It is an acre and a half, fully enclosed property with a variety of fruit trees. It is really beautiful and peaceful. Our pup loved having free room of the place and even came face to face with a couple of wild peacocks! Joe and Sandra are lovely people and very accommodating. Highly recommend their place!

Was a great time here! They accommodated us and our four dogs. The host stayed on the property beautiful trees all around pretty secluded. No sewer hook ups is the only down fall. Was two other people there the day we got there and then they left the next morning. I would recommend it! Also was able to have a package delivered to the property !

Cool place nestled between farms

Our third Hipcamp experience, and it was great. Unlike our first two where we were the only guest, here we were joined by two other couples. Plenty of room and a beautiful setting with lots of cool tropical trees, cashew, mango, coconut, and many more. We were greeted by an elderly gentleman who spoke little to no English, but he was able to direct us to our spot. We wish we could have met Sandra and Joe, but as hosts ourselves, we understand that sometimes that’s not always possible. We would definitely stay here again if we ever return to south Florida.

This was our second stay and we plan on continuing to use this location for our trips to the keys. The hosts are easy going and the location can’t be beat. Robert is Here fruit stand is 3 minutes away and makes the best smoothies, and access to route 1 to cross into the keys is only about 10 minutes from the campground. I want to give this a 1 star review so people won’t discover my hidden gem, but I couldn’t do that to such a nice place.

Peaceful

This was a peaceful stop for us. Love that it was fenced in in a way so it felt like you were in a little slice of heaven. Grandson was able to run around safely and play. Also our spot had wonderful shading. We had one issue that was not in the hosts control. The road they are on has an extremely rough entrance. Take it slow when turning onto it.

Wonderful place, well kept, warm welcome. There is a lot of space. It's in the country side, but not far away from groceries and other amenities. We highly recommend this site for a peaceful stay.

Peacock Paradise

Such an unexpected, lush, tropical garden - complete with peacock and exotic plants. Comfortable and easy access to Biscayne and Everglades and Keys. Thankful for places like this while we are traveling. Plus, the iconic fresh produce stand and milkshake extraordinaire shack - Robert is Here - is close by! A must stop!

Great stay

What a beautiful property with all the fruit trees, just amazing. Such a nice set up with picnic tables, water and electric sites available as well. A lot of work has gone into this property and it shows. Highly recommend. Was a great location for us heading to the Keys. Only downside is the steep slope on the road in was tricky but doable in our class C

Hard to sleep

Easy check in, flat site, good instructions. I personally wouldn’t stay here again as the neighboring roosters start crowing around 1 am and don’t stop until sunup. There also was a neighboring Rv that ran a generator all night, and there were many lights left on all night, so I had a hard time sleeping. Other than that, the location was nice and close to the Everglades, which I thoroughly enjoyed!!!

Overall the campsites were clean had water / electric. But very loud at night with trucks etc. plus the road to get to this is horrible. Huge holes at entrance of road and all down road. It a great location to entrance to keys but road is to bad for us . Class C Motorhome w/ tow

Great place for the night. Nice set up with electricity and water. Fire pit, chairs and picnic table at the sites. No dump station or garbage pick up, but that was fine with us.

The land is really close to the Flamingo Park Entrance, Robert Is Here, and the Winery. The tree with the lights was the start of the show. We had a great time and we'll be staying here again.

Perfect weekend at Gate to the Keys. The entire location was more than we could have expected. Although we didn’t meet our hosts we did meet Jose and Ana and their dog, Mia. We stayed at the Peacock site although any of their sites would have been perfect. Gate to the Keys is quiet and has plenty of shades, tropical fruit trees, fire pits, picnic tables and is located just 40 minutes from KeyLargo. We will return in the summer to continue our conversations with our new friends, Jose and Ana. We highly recommend Gate to the Keys.
