Sometime before the end of the Civil War, a man named Peter Jones was directed by his personnel physician to move to an area with a humid climate in order to facilitate his “consumption”. He moved here, built a house and lived several years before he died of the malady. (It turns out he should have move to Arizona). For the next hundred years this land was farmed by some of the counties oldest families such as the Niblack family and the Ellis family. The farm you’re camping on is one of the last remaining family farms remaining in Columbia county and is currently named Glenn Farm after Dewey Virgil Glenn who married Hettie Lou Niblack in the 1930’s. At the time of the marriage Dewey Glenn was running native Florida cattle on over 6000 acres. In 1951 he was killed in a hunting accident leaving his wife with the farm and 4 children (ages 4-11). I. Order to survive, Hettie Lou Niblack Glenn was forced to sell 5000 at $25 an acre. Holding a bachelors degree from Florida State College for Women, she was able to secure job at the University of Florida as a secretary and with the money from the land sale she was able to raise her four children. Of the original farm, 600 acres remain intact and Glenn Family is trying to keep the farm as an agricultural operation. Your campsite is located on a 40 acre hayfield about 1/2 a mile down a dirt road from the main farm

Arrowhead Sink
Amazing Campsite!!
What an amazing campsite! We already can’t wait to be back. Our two dogs absolutely loved running free in the hay fields. We were treated to about a dozen turkeys roaming through the field one morning. We heard a pack of wild coyotes the last night we were there. They were far away though. The cave and sink is incredible. What a fantastic property. Tom was awesome and we will be back before the end of the year. Thank you Tom for sharing your land with us. We loved every minute of it.

Adventure Awaits
Our family stayed 3 nights at the Arrowhead Sink. It was clean, everything they promise, and more. The farmland and forest are equally beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed swimming and exploring the sink and surrounding area. The stargazing, the quiet awe of being in the sink, and the hospitality of our host Tom made this one of our favorite family adventures. Even an epic one! Carefully standing on top of the sink in all the ferns feels tropical, and inside the cave it feels like stepping back in time. We are so thankful that we let Tom give us a walking tour. It was fun, and he is a captivating storyteller. He also let us pet the cows, pet the sheep, and even took us on a short afternoon walk through a pasture to visit a newborn ‘hours old’ calf. Small children will need to be tended closely here. Our 5 year old loved it ALL especially ‘swimming in a cave.’ Recommend for smaller groups, and those who care for nature and want to leave nothing behind but footprints. We promise you will take home incredible memories, pictures, and stories.

Arrowhead Sink
Absolutely beautiful
Arrowhead sink did not disappoint at all. When we arrived the weather was beautiful and we exploded the beautiful sink and all it’s beauty. The water was so cold but refreshing. Tom sent me a message and told us that bad weather was coming but we were prepared. We brought a canopy tent and enjoyed the rain as it made a nice cool night for sleeping.
