Loved this place! Primitive with the right amount of conveniences. The host was really nice, and as a solo female camper I felt super safe. Saw tons of deer and wildlife. Perfect hidden gem

Joe was a great host. Easy to talk to and very accommodating with his property. We loved our camp site and enjoyed all of the wildlife it had to offer. It is even more active early in the mornings. A lovely walk around the property doesn't disappoint. Joe loves to entertain the birds and squirrels as well. So many animals flourish to this site. We saw a bobcat, otters, an array of birds, deer, a turkey and some cows. I will definitely be back!!!! Thank you joe!

Perfection is the only way to describe this hidden gem. The host, Joe, could not have been more amazing. From greeting to departure I feel that I made a friend. Quiet, peaceful and beautiful. Made it into downtown Arcadia and had a great lunch and did some shopping. Close to peace river to find shark teeth. I hope joe keeps this place for years to come.

Joseph was an exceptional host, very kind and communicative. He save us with is truck when our car battery dead 🙏
The campsite is plenty of trees, water and birds, there are a lot of squirrels too.
It has bathroom and shower near the entrance.

This place is amazing and Joe is a great host. Space was great and everything needed was there. Being able to wake up early and go take walk to see the sunrise and the cows is nothing but perfect! Definitively staying here again whenever I need some rest from the city.

I really loved the whole spot, I wish I would’ve booked for more days honestly. There’s a ton of little trails to explore, I saw like 5 deers and horses came to the fence to say hello in the morning! Although there were other campers I literally couldn’t see or hear them, so it felt super private. The host is genuinely cool and you can tell he loves his place because of the attention to detail. There’s a bathroom for us to use, water if you need to shower or clean pots+pans, and plenty of curiosities on the property to entertain yourself with. I recommend this spot a thousand times over.

Joe has great place. Tent sites are particularly nice. The 2 camper sites are pretty close together. Would visit again.

Amazing property with so much attention to detail. I stayed in the back by a babbling brook and my friend and I felt very secluded. I would stay here again.

Tent campsites are generously sized, and include a bench, fire pit, and cooking area. They are also very shaded and private. Joe welcomed us on arrival, and showed us to our site, and was available to answer questions.
Note that if your campsite is not vehicle accessible, you will have to bring your tent/supplies to your site (Joe has a huge wheelbarrow to assist). We also arrived late in the day. This also means you will have to secure your food at night in your vehicle, if your cooler is full.
Bathroom and sink are very clean (just remember to bring a light source whether it's day or night). Although showers are available, as a woman, a privacy enclosure would have been ideal that is away from a common sitting area.
Overall, Area 61 is a hidden gem and would highly recommended it.

Second time camping here!! First time we had the entire site to ourselves! Second time we had a couple camp neighbors who were very considerate. Both times were both very relaxing & nice 🙂 Joe is a great host & very accommodating if you need anything!

My family and I had a blast at Area 61! I most definitely look forward to camping here again in the near future. Very peaceful for those looking to get away from city life. Publix is 15 minutes away just incase you need to make a quick grocery store run. Lots of wildlife in the area. Jo was very accommodating and also gave you your privacy. Thanks again for a great time Jo, I really appreciate what you’ve done with the place !

We had the whole place to ourselves and had an amazing time! We loved walking the property and sitting on the benches to watch the animals. Deer, turkeys, cows , birds, squirrels. Every tent site has a fire pit and a separate grill and plenty of flat area to put your tent. There’s also rv sites and a very nice area for a large group to camp together. We can’t wait to go back!

Joe has a great piece of land that you can camp at and also explore. He also has a lounge area that offers hanging chairs and a hot tub. He was very accommodating with our stay. It was a pleasure meeting him and staying at his property. I look forward to coming back.

This place is awesome!! As soon as you pull up, you start to see all of the love and thought put into creating this place! Our host made us feel right at home. Plenty of trails and scenic spots to sit and enjoy the moment. The campsites were spaced out for privacy, bathroom was super clean and spacious, and the outdoor shower was pretty private, considering it’s outside. Also, all the campsites had dim green ambient lighting to see your space. Definitely on my list for a weekend getaway!

We (family of 4) welcomed in the new year at Area 61 and I cannot recommend Joseph's property highly enough to any campers looking for an immaculately maintained property to camp. Each tent site is secluded enough that you can barely notice that there are other campers on property; there are great trails for exploring, and plenty of wildlife. The kids loved getting up early to see the deer, and we also saw multiple owls during our stay. Joseph is a great host, and this place will only get better with some of the the projects he has planned. While you feel far more remote that you actually are (15min from town), Joseph has done an amazing job with his property, and there is no doubt that we will be back!

We are already trying find time on our calendar to go back! It couldn’t have been any better, owner a thorough and knowledgeable host. Plenty of space throughout, clean outhouse, every site was clean, clear and ready when we arrived. Other campers were friendly, lots of wildlife, crazy animal sounds at night which our 6yo loved. Easy to get to, a hidden gem!!!!

We has such a great time camping at Area 61! Joseph is a great host and has created a haven of serenity. The short trail around the land is a gem! The kids loved walking the trail, following the little creek, and discovering the wonders of nature. We loved all the cute little bridges and benches Joseph has built and placed around the campsite. We loved the outdoor showers with heated water!

Camped there for new years 2025. Absolutely loved it. Jo was such a pleasure to be around, great guy with awesome stories. The site itself was beautiful. So green and peaceful. We saw owls, deers, turkeys, cows, and many other wildlife. The neighbor’s dogs and pet goat even came by to say hello. The bathroom was clean, the water nice and warm, lots of areas to hike/walk around. Will be coming back soon.

We stayed for two nights as tent dwellers. Joseph is a wonderful host and interesting to speak with. Its pretty darned close to “roughing it” camping.
The tent sites are spread out so you aren’t contending with noisy neighbors and its all woods between sites. We really felt like we had finally escaped into paradise! On nights other than “Locally Designated Fireworks Party nights” it is very quiet. Our 2nd night was New Years Eve and if you live in FL, you know what that means. But we were up for midnight anyway and the neighbors around the camping area quieted down by 12:30AM. Then it was crickets and lots of owls! Joseph is working very hard on his trails which are so lovely. He has designated areas of interest that will surprise you. You will hear a babbling brook and you can rest on a bench and listen to the creaks and thumps of a clump of large bamboo cluster waving in the breeze. The camp is clean, the paths are wide and easy to walk.
There is a toilet but you will need a to bring a light in with you. The shower is outside so bring a bathing suit to shower. The water is from a well and if you are from FL, you know it can have a sulfur smell so bring a water filter if you plan to drink and can’t get past the smell. But the water is safe to drink without filtering.
We really enjoyed our stay and plan to return! We did not stay in an RV site but they are available.

Our family had a great time camping! Joseph met us and guided us around the property to give us the tour. Within minutes we saw a ton of wildlife: deer, owls, opossum, snakes, and more! We had a great time exploring all of the well maintained trails - it was so fun at night! We will certainly be coming back! Thanks for a great family camping trip, Joseph!
