Amazing views
Hipcampers say this spot has amazing views.
What a little Derbyshire gem: back to basics Whitehouse Farm Campsite is a simple site in a most scenic setting five minutes’ drive from the pretty village of Tideswell. The site’s central location in the Peak District National Park means it’s a top spot for those who want to ramble or ride bikes – several circular trails leave from Tideswell and the traffic-free Monsal Trail is a five-minute drive away. And there’s plenty more activity if you require it too, as activity centres nearby can sort you out days of horse riding, abseiling, climbing and caving. All this activity isn’t mandatory, of course – this is an equally fine location for days pottering off to local pubs, pigging out on pudding in Bakewell or taking a leisurely stroll around the Chatsworth Estate, 20 minutes away. And if even that’s too much, you’d be welcome to spend some time loafing about on site: there’s heaps of space here, and as facilities have been kept quite minimal (just showers and toilets) there should be a good serving of peace and quiet to go with it all. Guests are welcome to light up a barbecue or campfire for cookouts and keeping warm; Tideswell’s the place for supermarket supplies, and it’s also handily got a fish and chip shop and a couple of pubs for days when your firelighting skills aren't up to much. The views are also nothing short of lush: the site is surrounded by wide open fields, and walks can be had without needing to get in the car towards the nearest settlement of Wardlow and up to Hay Cop (20 minutes on foot) for a look over the local landscape. If you’d rather dig into dessert than dawdle, the tarts and puddings of countrywide renown are at Bakewell, the only market town in the Peak District and a 15-minute drive from the site. Not too stuffed to think about stocking up on supplies after sampling the wares? Food stores are here too and other urban areas worth a wander for chocolate-box houses and cutesy craft shops include Tideswell, Castleton, Bamford and Chatsworth, all within 20 minutes. Plenty other activities can be had in these towns too: Tideswell’s got the impressive St John the Baptist Church to have a gander at; Castleton’s known for its caverns where the famed Blue John stone is mined, and Bamford has three different dams to trek around. Chatsworth, meanwhile, is home to swanky stately mansion Chatsworth House – yep, that one mentioned in Pride and Prejudice and regularly voted Britain's top country house.

Last minute trip ❤️
Lovely view of the peaks and really easy to find! We lived that there were nice toilets and a hot shower too. You can just drive on and choose your own spot on the field. Great value for money and we will definitely be returning soon 😊

Derbyshire beauty spot!
If you are looking for a beautiful, clean site, with basic amenities to escape the rat race. Look no further. Spent a fabulous week detoxing from the modern world here. Close to some fabulous walks and interesting attractions. Will definitely be looking to return in the near future.

July/Aug 23, 5 nights, will return.
Very successful first trip here. Site was beautiful, views were stunning, facilities good. Weather was very showery but this is England and the rain is why we have such lush countryside. That said, I managed to cook outside the tent most days and with the help of a trusty thermos flask, had hot water inbetween for coffee. Showers and toilets clean and plenty of hot water. Just one recommendation for the host, a covered skip would improve the outlook for campers in preference to an open one. The site location is well placed for visiting Bakewell, Buxton and other surrounding places. Thanks for a pleasant experience, I look forward to returning.

Gorgeous
Great little spot. Nice and rural with Bakewell not too far away. Facilities were good with owners coming nightly to refresh. If you like “off grid but with loos” then this is for you. Will definitely come back.
