Creature comforts
Enjoy the comforts of home at some sites—including flush toilets, showers, and a kitchen.
Overnight, Seasonal, and Extended Stay Camping, we are open year-round. We have 30/50amp sites (shade and partial shade) around our lake, 20 amp in the "upper campground," and dry camping (full facilities) along the Arkansas River (Gold Medal fishing) with access for all campers for fishing and floating. Many of our sites are great for star-gazing, watching meteors, looking for fireflies, and seeing the birds zip on by. We are conveniently located on Hwy 50, in Bighorn Sheep Canyon, and have all sorts of rental options for your outdoor adventure needs. Whether you want to pitch a tent, try out the glamping experience, enjoy the convenience of an RV, or rent one of our fully equipped RVs, we have the perfect spot for you. We have four entrances marked by sail flags into the campground, two by the lake, one near the bathhouse, and one by the post office (on our property). The map of the Arkansas River has our campground listed! Adventure awaits with home to the highest mountain peaks in Colorado and the river and 102 miles of Trout Gold Medal Water. There is access to white water rafting, guided fishing, and fishing lessons. There are at least 5 hot springs within 60 miles of Twin Bridges Campground. Salida is considered the white-water rafting capitol of the US by some and has a whitewater park and surfing wave. Salida area is also home to a ton of hiking (14'ers anyone?) and mountain biking trails. The Royal Gorge is a quick 30 minute drive with restaurants and other fun near Canon City. The Sand Dunes are 90 minutes and Monarch Ski Area is 45, we have some of the best bird watching! Warbling Vireo, Western Wood-peewee, Cassin's Kingbird to name a few.

Tent site · Sleeps 4
Pitch your tent just feet from the river! We have several star-gazing sites on the property, and this is one. Along with stunning views of Bighorn Sheep Canyon, Twin Bridges Campground has about 1/4-mile access for fishing in gold medal waters and is a bird watchers paradise. Caddis hatch is one of the best times to fish the Arkansas (April and May.) Stonefly gets more sun than the other two riverside sites. Direct sun in the morning until mid-afternoon. Guests may want to bring their own shade June-September. This site comes with a picnic table and gas fire pit; you may rent a 20# propane tank for $20 on the extras page. Stonefly is a 4-minute walk from the bath house and Wi-Fi extends to all riverside sites. There is a boat ramp in the area that all campers on the property may use. Migratory birds travel through the campground April-October. The bird songs can be heard throughout the campground. We have feeders around the sites and some of the birds are very aggressively eating from them. See how many different species you can spot! This site borders our Mayfly site, so there is a good possibility there will be other guests next to you 20 feet away. Some guests book both sites to accommodate a larger group or just to have more privacy. The Caddis site is more private.

Pitch your tent in our most private river site, which is situated feet from the river and small creek. A small "bridge" (check out the photos) leads to the site. Bighorn RV Park has a tent site for their guests on the other side of the fence. There is one designated parking spot for this site parallel to the creek. Along with stunning views of Bighorn Sheep Canyon, Twin Bridges Campground has about 1/4-mile access for fishing in gold medal waters and is a bird watcher’s paradise. Caddis hatch is one of the best times to fish the Arkansas (April and May.) Caddis (was Hummingbird) gets some direct sunlight in the mid-morning until mid-afternoon. The trees provide a nice canopy however guests may still want to bring their own shade June-September. We are in a climate called the “banana belt” which means hotter days, extended growing season and mild night temperatures. Each site has a picnic table and gas fire pit; you may rent a #20 propane tank for $20.00 by adding it on the extras page. Caddis is a 4-minute walk from the bath house; Wi-Fi extends to all riverside sites. Caddis is a raft-in and raft out site with room for two rafts on the shore. So, pitch your tents, drop your gear, and run that shuttle!!! There is a boat ramp in the area for all campers. Along with stunning views of Bighorn Sheep Canyon, Twin Bridges Campground is a bird watchers paradise. Migratory birds travel through the campground April-October. Symphonies of bird song rain down on our riverside sites. We have feeders around the sites and some of the birds are very aggressively eating from them. See how many different species you can spot! Watch for hummingbirds and hummingbird moths, they hover over the flowers and will come to your birdfeeder (provided).

Brown Trout, lake/river/birds

95%
(11)
RV/tent site · Sleeps 4 · Vehicles under 28 ft
Brown Trout is one of our sites with 20 or 30 amp hookups. It is overlooking a small lake and the bridges. This spot is ideal for guests that explore the area during the day (fishing, hiking, bird watching, rafting, mountain biking, shopping, etc.). Brown trout is a short two-minute walk to the bathrooms and showers. WIFI is very strong at this site. There are also several access points to fishing on the river a four minute walk. There is no fishing or swimming in the lake. The lake is too shallow and in the summer the water temperature is too high for the fish to survive a fight. Along with stunning views of Bighorn Sheep Canyon, Twin Bridges Campground is a bird watchers paradise. Migratory birds travel through the campground April-November. Symphonies of bird song rain down on our riverside sites. We have feeders around the sites and some of the birds are very aggressively eating from them. See how many different species you can spot! Brown Trout is one of the most popular game fish in North America. They can be found in lakes, streams, and rivers throughout the USA and Canada. Dragonfly river/easy in and out

86%
(7)
RV/tent site · Sleeps 4 · Vehicles under 15 ft
Dragonfly is one of our smaller tent sites. There is not much room for more than a tent, car, and a couple of chairs around the gas fire pit. It is overlooking the river and canyon from our upper campground. This spot is ideal for guests that explore the area during the day (mountain biking, hiking, fishing, rafting, shopping, etc.) or are just passing through. The site is in our upper campground which is laid out like a RV park so there will be other campers close by. Most of our guests that occupy the top campground in the summer are Whitewater Guides. During the day most will be gone. They usually are quiet and keep to their area near the bath house, but you will see them in the evening. Dragonfly is a short two-minute walk to the bathrooms and showers. WIFI signal is very strong at this site. There are also multiple access points to the fishing spots on the river two minutes away. This site comes with a picnic table and propane fire pit, you may rent a 20# propane tank on the extras page. There is no fishing in the pond. The pond is too shallow and in the summer the water temperature is too high for fish to survive a fight. There is no swimming in the pond. Along with stunning views of Bighorn Sheep Canyon, Twin Bridges Campground is a bird watchers paradise. Migratory birds travel through the campground April-October. Symphonies of bird song rain down on our riverside sites. We have a bunch of feeders around and some of the birds are very aggressive eating from them. See how many different species you can spot! Dragonfly species are characterized by long bodies with two narrow pairs of intricately veined, membranous wings that, while generally transparent, may have colored markings. Unlike damselflies, the front and rear wing pairs are shaped differently. In addition, dragonflies rest with their wings spread horizontally, rather than held vertically against each other. Dragonflies have a more powerful build and are generally much stronger fliers than damselflies

This site comes with a picnic table and gas fire pit; you may rent a 20# propane tank for $20 on the extras page. Adult damselflies will catch and diet on flies, mosquitoes and small insects. Their sensitivity makes them handy as an indicator species and tells us how messed up our water supply is. They’re also pretty and can be worn as a brooch. They are usually blue and look like a smaller dragon-fly.
