Visit Rita the Troll 5 minutes outside of Cripple Creek. * Water Recreation: Pristine reservoirs for fishing and paddling sit within a scenic one-hour drive. 🌲 Eco-Luxury Comforts * Outdoor Shower: Rinse off under the canopy with a hot outdoor shower (available during the summer season). * Off-Grid Bathhouse: A dedicated, clean shed behind the yurt features a modern composting toilet and foot-pump sink. * Glamping Kitchen: Enjoy a functional kitchen with electric. The kitchen sink has running (non-potable) water for dishes, plus a LIMITED supply of fresh drinking water provided for your stay. An expansive retreat, perfectly nestled in nature and ready to create lasting memories for your group. There's also electric and WiFi if you need to check some emails or cozy up and watch a flick while listening to the rain. However, we do encourage you to unplug and soak up the gorgeous Colorado mountain forest!Secluded 7.5 acres of aspen and pine forest to enjoy and explore with all the comforts of home. Our 27’ yurt is fully equipped for a luxurious “yamping” experience. The property is surrounded by Colorado State Wildlife and BLM land with a 2 minute walk to trails. Fully furnished living space with a detached bathroom equipped with a composting toilet and hand washing sink. There is an outdoor hot shower with privacy and lots of water pressure located just next to the yurt in the trees. Inside has a cozy queen bed and 2 full size futons. There’s a kitchen area with a small fridge, potable water station and an outdoor grill and stove setup. There is no running water at this time, other than the shower. Although we invite you to unplug and soak up nature, there is reliable Wi-Fi and electricity as well, so you can easily get some work done and still hike and go to the lake for a paddle or some fishing.

Toilet available
Composting toilet. This composting toilet has a large capacity, especially for solids. The liquids container MUST BE DUMPED every other day or so with 2 people and every day or so with 3 or more people. If you overflow the tank and do not dump the liquids you will be charged an additional $50 cleaning fee.

Off leash. There are bowls and beds. Please let me know so I can these set up for you and your fuzzy friends.

Recycling bin, trash bin. You will need to pack out your trash. There is a bin that you can use for $1 at the Cripple Creek Mountain Estates clubhouse, about 1/4 mile, or less, on the right heading south on teller county 1 towards Cripple Creek.
Cooking equipment present
Bbq, private, fridge, freezer, cookware, cooking utensils, dishware, cutlery, basic seasoning and oils, sink or other dishwashing station. No running water in the yurt. There are wash tubs that can filled from the shower or hot water pots for dishwashing. There is a camp stove and small propane grill on the deck for cooking.

My family throughly enjoyed our stay at the Hummingbird hut. We have 2 little ones and this was our first time camping in a yurt. Kindra's place had the perfect blend of an off grid in the woods feel, without sacrificing any basic necessities. There were even some delightful extras like children's books and toys. When packing for the trip I packed some extra things "just in case" but I absolutely didn't need to. Everything we could need was there, tea and coffee, condiments, cozy blankets, a fan...etc! If you have kids I think you'll especially enjoy all the touches Kindra has provided in her yurt. We highly recommend, thanks for letting us stay.

Great yurt, very well equipped with everything we needed and comfortable for sleeping. My daughter loved the wide selection of toys and my dogs loved all the smells in the woods!

The Hummingbird Hut
I can’t think of enough good things to say about our weekend stay. The yurt and bathroom were very clean and easy to get to. Kindra (host) was attentive, helpful, and gave us wonderful recommendations of things to do in the area. The yurt was cozy, quiet, secluded, and just what we needed. Already planning our next trip here - can’t wait to come back!
