Christine was flexible with our evolving travel plans even before we even got to High Desert Ranch, which set a great tone for our reservation. When we arrived to the camp, the grounds were maintained. The stars at night and the view of the mountains in the morning were both spectacular! Would recommend staying at High Desert Ranch!

Site 6 - The High Desert Ranch Colorado
Fantastic site! The views are breathtaking, the quietness is perfect and the nearby hiking trails are a must. Me and my wife drove all the way from Ohio on our honeymoon and we knew we wanted to hit every hiking trail we could. Then decided we wanted to camp for a few nights and this site was the perfect getaway! If we ever get the chance, we will be back!

Christine was a wonderful host. The site is newly developed and she is open to any suggestions and we added a couple of minor ones for horse accommodations. We stayed two nights with our horses and felt very comfortable. I will return again.

Site 12 - The High Desert Ranch Colorado
Great camp spot in beautiful area
Beautiful camp spot for my visit to Great Sand Dunes NP. Site was well maintained and easy to access. Saw a herd of elk on my way in. Property was clean and well-managed. Outhose was spotless and stocked with TP, soap, water and sanitizer… very clean. Had s great night under the stars! Would definitely stay here again!

Site 13 - The High Desert Ranch Colorado
The girlfriend and i tent camped with our two pups for 1 night and absolutely loved the property. You can see the Great Sand dunes in the distance and the stars were amazing at night.
The owner Christine was very kind and responsive to text if anything popped up
Even in the Fall i would recommend brining a canopy or something to provide shade

Wonderful park! Easy in and easy out for a 38’ rig. Forever views, endless stars at night. Peaceful and quiet. 50 amp electrical a total plus.

Camping with the Stars!
I had an amazing time at this campsite! I was there when there was a new moon and so I was able to catch beautiful photographs of the Milky Way and all the stars. It was absolutely breathtaking what you could see. The sunsets and the rainbows were gorgeous every single day I was there and to wake up every morning surrounded by mountains is a joy! Christine was so pleasant and helpful during my stay and proved to be an individual of high integrity when there was a RV incident. I would highly recommend this land, the Host and this night sky!

We really enjoyed our stay and Christine was super nice. Stopped by to make sure we had everything we needed. Nice isolated getaway. We love boondocking, but with an infant it's nice to be able to plug in. Had the feeling of being isolated with much needed amenities. Thanks, Christine!

Peaceful get-away
This is a great little hidden get-away near Crestone: beautiful views, peaceful vibes, natural terrain, and so well spaced lots for each camper. Christine is a great host—super accommodating. I’d recommend for anyone who wants a high desert sneak-away.

Stars forever!!
Camping here was amazing. The views are unbelievable. The stars are mind blowing. So close to Crestone and sand dunes. Christine is so welcoming. We had the whole place to ourselves basically and it was wonderful! We will absolutely be back!

Mountains EVERYWHERE!!!
The setting is surreal. Mountains everywhere!!!! The campsite feels very private. Lot’s of fun and interesting activities in the area. Would absolutely recommend Great Dunes National Park and Sand Dune Pools. Our host was extremely responsive and very nice. We will definitely be back to this gem!!

Even the teens were impressed!
The views from Christine’s spot are breathtaking. We arrived just before sunset and even the cyclical teens we were traveling with were in awe. And then came the stars - such an incredible, starry night sky. Christine was also absolutely lovely, showing us to our camping spot and being on hand if we had any questions.

Perfect Spot!!
This was truly a dream location for us! The mountains and sunset were dramatic, the location was right near incredible hikes and hot springs, and the electricity, water hookups, and very clean porta potties made the stay very comfortable. It's also super close to crestone so you can pop by the coop there for supplies or go grab a beer and bite at the brewery. We will be coming back! Also the host, Christine, was so helpful and nice. Thanks Christine!!!!!!

Starry Night
Our host Christine was there for us when we arrived, even after dusk, to guide us to our site in the dark. Made the check in easy, and check out was even easier. Constant communication beforehand really made the evening smooth. Big sky and plenty of stars at night!

Camping under the stars!
We loved staying at Christine’s place. It is so quiet there and the campsites are not super close together so you feel like you have lots of space to yourself. She met us when we arrived to help us find our campsite. She has electric hookups and a port a potty that’s in the middle. We even enjoyed hearing the coyotes calling to each other nearby. Such a peaceful place to get in touch with nature.

Great Experience!
Awesome all around! Christine’s communication was great, directions were clear and she even met us upon our arrival to escort us to our site and explain the layout of the campground. We appreciated the availability of firewood bundles on site! Excellent views of the mountains! (The porta-potty that I used on the campground was easily the cleanest one that I’ve ever used). Thanks!

I loved every minute of it!!! Christine is an absolute doll, my kind of people for sure. Her space was awesome and beautiful to see all the stars. Seeing the sand dunes was such a nice treat. Also check out the gator farm and sand dune recreation for a wonderful hot spring!, skip the ufo place sadly its not worth the admission. 11/10 would do again!!

Close enough, but far enough away
This is a fantastic place to camp! Well set up, organized and spread out from most of the other sites. Even though we arrived late, Christine was in contact with us, and very helpful in getting us out there.
If you’re into star gazing, this is a great spot!
The only downside was some inconsiderate campers at a nearby site, that didn’t think the quiet times pertained to them, and they didn’t seem to care that it was 6:45 am, yelling and laughing so early, and that was a bit frustrating, especially with arriving so late 2 younger daughters that were tired from a long day of traveling, and a little extra morning rest would have been appreciated.
All together, we would definitely stay there again when we decide to head back to Great Sand Dunes Nat’l Park.

Great spot with easy access to the west of the Sangre de Cristos. Christine was super friendly, met us when we got in, and set out the firewood for us. Campsites are nice and spread out, making for a quiet experience

I found Christine and her property to be very peaceful and welcoming. The location is ideal for being close to town and far enough outside of town to really do some star gazing. Also, I super appreciated how smooth the road was getting out there. Two thumbs waaay up for this sweet gal and her RV parking.

Good Base Camp
FYI..When driving down the road be aware of the neighbors dogs. they chase cars.
I have told many people about High Desert Ranch RV while traveling. Christine is a very gracious host. She has 4 RV sites with electricity & water that can & do hold small to large RVs. Lots of tent sites. Beautiful views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains & the Great Sand Dunes.
Porta potties were clean & had very little smell at least the one we used. The water taste fresh & pretty cold.

Beautiful but others may be close
Beautiful high desert location. The mountain views, sunsets, stars upon stars, rainbows when it rained!! Never saw the elk, but heard coyotes in the distance. Not so remote you have trouble getting to a gas station. Dollar General for the little things you might forget. Camp host Christine responded to messages quickly and greeted us upon arrival. Very friendly.
We stayed on RV site 4 with water and electric right there; no extra hose or power cordage needed. If you don't mind a "campground " set up, read no further. You will love it here!!
I chose RV 4 because it looked more remote/secluded, one of the main reasons I use hipcamp. However, there are tent sites right next to and in front of it. . We had a brief neighbor, and we lost our privacy. We could hear each and every cough and muttering he had to say all evening and am. So close to even strike up conversation. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I would book again and risk having other campers so near by. But that would be my ONLY complaint.

Site 7 - The High Desert Ranch Colorado
We used Christine’s campsite/land as a stop while heading to the sand dunes and Taos, NM. It was the perfect place for that with the quiet and outstanding mountain views. There were cows that meandered on the other side of the barbed wire fence near our site (7) that mooed, but it was honestly nice. And coyote sounds in the distance too. The fire ring and picnic table made it even more convenient. Plus, there is a clean portapotty and water spigot nearby. The desert shrubs made it feel more private. Very communicative and nice host. Bought firewood and was at our site when we arrived.
