Site 5 - Large Group
A nice and peaceful spot with nice views all around. Our plan was to mostly stay put and relax, but the wind turned our 4 day stay here into more of a base camp for day trips.
We went to Leadville (already planned) and rode e-bikes on the Mineral Belt Trail. Highly recommended!
We also visited Fairplay and really enjoyed the South Park City Museum. Also highly recommended!
We also took a trip into Salida, and into Buena Vista. All of these were close enough to camp, and honestly, nice drives.
As mentioned before, the sites here are a bit close to each other, but since we were here during the week, we were by ourselves until the last night, when we had a very quiet fellow camper.
The sunsets were amazing, and the moonscapes were just as remarkable. Be sure to bring your own shade, as there are beautiful trees to look at, they're too far away to keep the sun off of you.
Tyrene was an excellent host and came by to make sure we had whatever we needed.

We rented from Tyrene last minute & it was great! It’s in the middle of a pretty wide open field with a beautiful hill/mountain side behind and gorgeous views of landscape and mountains everywhere. She was very responsive. The first 4 spots are pretty close like normal campground spots, and spot 5 sits further back. No one else was camping at the time, but there would have been plenty of privacy. The portapotty is quite clean. We spent a day at 11 mile in the canyon and another day rafting/hiking in Buena Vista. Both 30-40 min away. Great stay & appreciate her hospitality.

Stargazing & sunset at a clean site

We loved staying at Tyrene’s campsite! It had an amazing view of the sunset over the mountains and the clouds cleared later for some incredible stargazing. The porta-potty was the cleanest I’ve ever used, and the site was very easy to find. Five of us stayed in the larger site 5, which had plenty of room for our 2 cars and tents. We also had service at the site.

This is the second time I've visited in a month. Very peaceful. I enjoying getting there in the afternoon, reading, meditating, sunsets, and star gazing. Even though it was cloudy with a light rain this time the views were beautiful. At 3:00 a.m. the stars were amazing. The campsites are kept very clean. I plan on returning frequently.

Beautiful scenery. I van camped here with my dog and 82 yo mom. It was so peaceful. We went to see the supermoon. Great view all night and morning. The sites were very clean and the porta potty was also. I'm going to go back when the moon is not so bright so that I can stargaze. I love camping here and I will definitely be back.

The hosts were great and answered texts immediately about questions. Sent wood down on a four wheeler whenever additional firewood was needed. Even gave us extra firewood on our final day and newspaper to start the fire because I had forgot lighter fluid. Great place!

This was a great campsite! I set my rooftop tent up in spot #1, and it was great to have a fire pit, freshly cut (dry) firewood, and a clean porta potty right there. There were two other groups staying at the campsite, but no one felt too close! Excellent sunset views - and make sure you wake up to see the sunrise too!

Great property! The hosts were awesome and stopped by to say hi to all of the guests and ask if we needed anything. Even on a cloudy day the sunset was still beautiful! Highly recommend

The 360 views were incredible. The sunrise and sunset alone are worth the visit. The night sky was remarkable. Dark skies allowed the stars to shine with beautiful clarity.
The location allows you to beat the crowds but, still be close to many places of interest.

This was a gorgeous, wide-open area to camp in. Had everything you'd need, a fire ring, table, and clean port-o-potty. The sunset was incredible and Tyrene was so communicative, everything went perfectly. We will certainly be staying here again.

This was the perfect spot for our pop-up tent! We loved how easy it was to access and the communication on Tyrene’s part was great. Also was super impressed with the clean port-a-potty and the gorgeous, vast views!

Overall a great stay at Midland Station. Location is beautiful and the site is well appointed with a picnic table, fire ring and clean porta potty. I would echo previous reviewers in saying that it's best to have some cover during the day via an awning or pop up. We spent our days in Buena Vista so not an issue for us. Cooled off at night nicely and the stargazing (on one night) was amazing. It's a nice midpoint between Buena Vista and Fairplay so lots to check out. We would definitely book again.

I agree that the four sites could be further apart—seems to be plenty of space to spread them out—but the grounds & port-a-let were very well maintained and the view grand and calming. A great stay!

We had a nice stay at the Midland Station campground. Clean port-a-potty was very helpful for being a tent camper. It's in the open but cool enough temps that we didn't notice. Nice gravel driveway, picnic table and fire ring.

Easy site to reach and not very far from Buena Vista. We rolled in too late to catch the sunset but the morning sunrise was still wonderful. Tyrene also set us up with firewood for the evening. Thank you!
