This place is magical and we will definitely be back! The perfect mix of glamping and truly being secluded. So relaxing. It’s very well kept and has everything you could need. I recommend this place 100%!!

Best campsite ever!
This is our second visit to this site. The host's small touches add to the charm of our visit. They leave flowers and homemade chocolates. They've added a small library and have games to play. There is so much room to spread out and lounge in the tree house or choose a hammock. I love this site so much and hope to be able to come back again next year.

Love the off-grid kitchen
What an amazing place!! Darren & Sarah have done so much work to make their place inviting and easy to visit. We loved all the places to sit and read or have coffee/tea/cocktails. The off-grid kitchen is unbelievable. We had amazing meals and loved being able to drink out of glasses WITH ice and other touches that we aren't used to while camping. We will be back!

FAVORITE HIPCAMP 2022
Forest/Mountain views during the day and city lights at night. Our favorite part was the kitchen but we we truly enjoyed the entire property! We can’t wait to come back & rent the yurt!!

This was a wonderful, secluded, glamping experience. It was perfect and convenient with the FULL kitchen. So easy to be camping in nature with 2 little kiddos AND relaxing for the adults. Close to Chatfield Reservoir for a day of swimming/paddle boarding and close to other hiking areas. The perfect getaway. We are definitely planning on going next season!!!

The property is remote and very beautiful. You literally just have to bring a tent and your food, the rest is there already. Glamping for someone like me! Views are spectacular!

True Gem!
This place is true gem! Great place to rest and restore. The outdoor kitchen is beautifully laid out fully appointed. I relaxed in the lounge a good portion of the day. Took a nap in the hammock. My wife and daughter commented the outhouse is the BEST the have ever experienced in outdoor camping. Directions and the instructions were detailed and helpful. We will definitely return if available.

This place is exceptional! Hard to believe we were only an hour from home yet felt like we were way back in the sticks! Darren and Sarah have put a lot of thought into what they've done on Straus Mountain. Part camping, part glamping. Didn't really know what to expect, but must say we were blown away and can't wait to go back!

The best, easiest possible way to 🏕
The Straus’s have created a lovely, easy, clean and cozy place to get out town and into nature. Bring your tent and food- they have the rest. Seriously, a FULL kitchen in what feels like the middle of nowhere! There is everything you need to prepare any meal- even an oven and electric juicer! This is a perfect spot for families, first time campers, or experienced outdoors people who don’t want to have to deal with preparing all your gear. There are hammocks and picnic tables and even an outdoor sectional. I know it books out quickly, and I understand why! We were lucky and happened to find two days after a cancellation! If you see an opening, grab it! You will not be disappointed!
Dubious perk- Cell reception is good, so if you want to unplug you have to be disciplined about it. Turn off your phones! We were even able to take work meetings on zoom!
We cannot wait to come back next season!

Perfect getaway
Absolutely perfect! It’s apparent that they put a lot of thought into this property and enjoyed building it every step of the way. So many nooks and crannies to explore and lounge in. Very private and quiet. Rain came, which ended up being a joy to watch with the provided shelters. Couldn’t have asked for anything more. Thanks, for having us! We’re refreshed and recharged.

Best Campsite Ever!
This site has everything promised and more. This is hands down the best campsite that I've ever stayed. The gracious hosts, Darren and Sarah, add little touches that make the stay more personal. But even without that the seclusion and amenities alone make this top notch. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay here again if the site is available.

Feels Like Glamping!
How could you not love this place? It is truly special. You can tell from the long list of amenities and thoughtful touches that Sarah and Darren have poured their hearts into this place. The kitchen had absolutely everything we needed and MUCH more, the picnic table was the perfect gathering spot, the views were rad and even the outhouse was adorable. I’d stay here again and again.

A Great Adventure!
The perfect peaceful retreat! My husband and I tent camped for three nights, and it was wonderful. The kitchen has everything you need, and makes cooking while camping a breeze. We enjoyed our time up at Straus Mountain! I would recommend this campsite to everyone.
Darren and Sarah are super kind and very good at communicating. Their info packet that was sent to us after booking was very thorough and informative.

No Stress at Straus
I can't say enough good things about our stay at Straus Mountain-WOW. I had a good feeling we would enjoy ourselves given the reviews for the listing, but the reality even exceeded my expectations. For starters, Sarah and Darren seem like great people and clearly take pride in what they are offering. Communication whenever we had questions was nearly instant; although we didn't have many questions because nearly everything you need to know about anything is outlined in a binder on-site (they also email a PDF version prior to your stay). They also had fresh flowers, mint, and delicious homemade peanut butter cups waiting for us, awesome!
The space itself is perfect. The outdoor kitchen came in clutch during a state-wide fire ban, and is outfitted with all of the utensils, cleaning supplies, etc. that you might need (appliances include fridge/freezer, stove, grill, microwave). They had 3 hammocks set up for us upon arrival which we took advantage of.
Needless to say, we had the perfect stress-free stay and are planning on coming back in the future. Do yourself a favor and book this spot!
FYI-we were able to drive a Toyota Corolla to and from the campsite multiple times during our journey without any issues really-just had to get a little speed going up the hill when we were packed down leaving the spot.

This is definitely a mountain site but for the most part we had cell reception! The kitchen was clean and well appointed. The bathroom was actually very nice! Hammocks already hung up! Private but with the kitchen area, not too primitive!

Beautiful with a tad of excitement!
Communication from host was awesome! The written instructions about the camp were thorough and explained everything about camp. The site itself was beautiful and well kept. Everything was thought of! And even though we were not that far from city site felt very secluded. So much so that when my friend came out of outhouse she saw a bear! It put a bit of scare in some members of the party but host had provided bear spray! After all it is nature and host had mentioned it is bear country. Bear ran off without incident. Highly recommend site!

1st Choice for A+ Getaway
This was only my second experience with Hipcamp. This short stay was glorious. An hour and 20 min from metro Denver. Kitchen amenities like Airbnb In an outdoor space. Hosts are very responsive with email and clearly take pride in sharing a wonderful location with guests. Can’t wait to return.
We hiked In Reynolds Park, had picnick lunch at Pine Valley Ranch Park by the rushing N Platte River. Whatever you might need is in Conifer or Evergreen.

Oasis with Stunning Views
The Straus Mountain campsite provided an oasis with stunning views. The drive to the campsite is serene and peaceful. The amenities allow you to glamp while still staying faithful to the traditional camping experience. It's a great place to retreat to with your loved ones or friends. I would highly recommend.
