My family of six really enjoyed our stay here. The cabin is definitely one of a kind. Our kids enjoyed seeing all the animals on the property, and one of the ranch's workers even gave them a crash course in throwing a lasso! It was hot in the valley while we were there, but it was noticeably cooler up in the mountains where the cabin is located. We were comfortable, and we had everything we needed. The stone shower was a fun experience. When we were there, the kitchen had a mini-fridge, hot plate, convection oven, drip coffee maker, and a generous assortment of dishes and silverware. Overall, we had a great visit and our youngest two children didn't want to leave. Highly recommend!
Jake’s cabin was exactly what we were looking for-clean, comfortable, and located in a beautiful place. So close to Colorado National Monument we enjoyed it every day.

We had a great time! The cabin is so unique and the property is beautiful. Jake and Sean were so welcoming. They taught the kids how to rope and let them help with the horses. My daughter especially loved the ranch dogs!

The cabin is just so unique! All the baby animals on the farm got many visits from us and we loved the trail ride.
Jenny and Jake were so very welcoming to my two children and me. Jenny took us on a trail ride we all loved! My children enjoyed visiting with the animals and helping with some ranch chores. The cabin Jake built is magical - so very unique with all the added touches. There’s room for a couple families to sleep in it so we will be back with our friends! Thank you, Jenny and Jake.

Charming Rustic Cabin!
The warmest welcome I’ve ever gotten at a Hipcamp! My son and I were on night 9 of a 10 day trip and exhausted, and it was so great to have such a comfortable and warm place to stay. The cabin itself is so unique, and you can see how much love went into building it. It My kiddo loved playing with and meeting the animals. Only wish we could’ve stayed longer!
Our stay at Jake's cabin was nothing short of a great experience! We were welcomed by classic country playing over the speakers and a cozy cabin for our evening. We loved everything about this cabin and would love to come back!
My family and I stayed in the Rustic Cabin, and it was our best vacation to date. Drives through the Colorado monument were breathtaking. Cabin was very comfortable for the 5 of us. Book the horse trail ride, worth every minute. Not enough words for this experience!

Charming Rustic Cabin!
Absolutely lovely. Really only needed to bring food. Was perfect for a much needed rest as the weather has been starting to get cold. Bonus was the property’s dogs and cat being ever so friendly. Loved every minute❤️
If you are looking for unique cabin experience, then this is the place! It’s soooo cozy and warm. There are so many things inside, we felt like we were in a museum. We could see that everything was made with love and attention to detail. There was the best stocked kitchen we’ve ever seen. There is everything you need to cook a meal. I saw in the previous reviews that it didn’t feel clean enough. Yes, you can see some spider web here and there but isn’t it the point of rustic? The bedding and towels were fresh and clean, that is all that matters. If you are looking for sparkling clean place with no soul, then go to the hotel. But if you are into unique rustic experience, then I definitely recommend this place. Their cats and dogs are adorable and the place is just 10 min drive from Colorado National Monument. It feels just like Zion, but with no people!

Charming Rustic Cabin!
Horses, goats, cats and dogs and a big stuffed elk in the cabin. It is very definitely RUSTIC. Bed was very comfortable. Kitchen has all the amenities. Comfortable seating both inside and outside is minimal however. Be prepared for more dusty bric-à-brac than you ever thought possible but the place has such an inventive character! Its history must be fascinating because its structural creativity certainly is!
We absolutely enjoyed our time here! Jake was so welcoming! And his son Jake was so nice for being able to take us out on a horseback ride! The cabin is so rustic and charming, it was a hit for our whole group! We loved hanging out with Toby, Roxanne, and Blue (2 Corgis and a blue heeler) that hung out on the property and all the friendly kitties too! We will definitely be coming up again for this awesome cabin and amazing views!
It really is a working horse ranch. The cabin is a marvel or rustic engineering. One of the most unique lodging experiences in my 25 years of visiting Colorado and Utah. Within a few hours drive of Arches, Canyonlands, and Black Canyon, and you have to drive through Colorado National Monument to get there. Jake greeted us on arrival. Roxie and her canine and feline friends never left our side. The horses are just a few yards away beyond the fence and work barn.

Charming Rustic Cabin!
Jake’s place was incredible. Located right on their working horse ranch, the cabin has all the basic necessities one would need. They also offered horseback trail rides. The views of the mountains were incredible. Conveniently located near many hiking areas in Colorado National Monument and to Grand Junction. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who loves being in the outdoors.

Beautiful and unique cabin, fully equipped with everything you need. The hosts are great and it is also a great place to go on a horse back riding !
The cabin is amazing! It is remarkable that it was made by hand. Very cool "ranch" experience for sure. If you go, I would take them up on the horseback riding too. Good price for a beautiful ride!
Couldn't have asked for a more authentic, down to earth host and facility. We absolutely loved everything about it. The charming, rustic cabin is like something out of a movie. It's on a working ranch, which took right back to my childhood growing up with horses. We very much enjoyed horseback riding and exploring the national monument. Toby the dog, the puppies, horses and family will stick in our memories for years to come. Hope to return one day:)
At first glance, the cabin seemed quaint and cozy. It was only after looking around that we noticed the place really needed a good cleaning. And, with COVID, that was a bit unsettling. Fortunately, we brought some of our own cleaners to sanitize with, as well as our own bedding and towels. Otherwise, I would not have been comfortable enough to stay.
We never met the host/s but were welcomed by one of the horse trainers, Shawn. Unfortunately, he seemed to have the jobs of ranch work AND preparing the cabin . It is really too much for one person. He was a very kind and helpful person but was stretched too thin.
The cabin was very rustic and a bit whimsical. Firewood was plentiful. But the main room was jammed packed with furniture, antlers, tree branches, stacks of more sheds, family photos and rodeo awards in every bare spot. It was very cluttered. You really had to be careful not to be poked by an antler or tree branch.
The main bed was supported by two by fours and the futon was unclean and stained. Both pieces of furniture really need to be replaced.
The kitchen was nice, the rock shower had lots of hot water and was a welcomed addition after a day of hiking.
The bathroom floor was really a safety issue. It was so uneven that you had to really pay attention so you did not trip and fall.
The overall design allowed for a number of people to sleep there and to have some private space. It really just needs some committed cleaning after each use ( including the windows) and maybe a bit of decluttering.
It needs to feel clean. It did not.
The other safety issue was the need to unplug one thing to use another, otherwise, you would trip the breaker.

Jake was an awesome host. The cabin provided a truly unique Colorado experience! Everything was pristine, the kitchen was fully stocked, and the cabin itself was beautiful. The stone shower was really nice, and we highly recommended taking a horseback ride. The drive to the cabin through Colorado Monument is absolutely stunning, and they had beautiful views from the property as well! The cabin is close to the main property and they stay pretty busy during the day working around the ranch. Everyone we met was very kind, and all their animals were so sweet. All in all, Jake and his family are super hospitable, provided a clean, cool, unique place for us to enjoy our time in Colorado. 10/10 Would stay again.

Charming Rustic Cabin!
Aside from the haphazard Electric, four unmannered dogs, ( I brought my dog they kept jumping on my vehicle and scratching the doors), lots of antlers and pine limbs to either bump your head or catch your clothing on, empty fire wood boxes with a large pile of firewood but everything between 12 and 15 ft long we had to become creative in order to have a fire in the cabin in the wood stove, lots of personal items around outside hard to tell where the business stopped and the personal began. Horseback trail rides were offered and taken by our group which we did enjoy, however with such a cluster at the beginning finding proper horses proper saddles we almost scrapped that whole Adventure. Earlier in the day before the trail ride we had taken advantage of being able to walk around the property and observe some of the other animals there are quite a few if not all in need of day to day care and every one of the goats needs their Hooves trimmed. The paddocks along the fence line we're almost a foot deep in feces urine and mud the conditions in the barn were no better off with the two calves in the corner we're also standing in feces and mud in urine just as deep. All the animals water had not been filled or refreshed the days that we had stayed there. Several of the horses had been tied short to fences and Gates Without Shelter food or water for several hours if not overnight. Overall I would say that our stay was disappointing it best and I hope that this review the animals will receive the proper care and the attention that they need and deserve. The idea of a working horse ranch is a great idea along with the trail rides however the whole operation has piss poor execution.

The awesome, unique "cave" shower was unexpected and cool. Great scenery nearby with the Colorado National Monument. The rustic, ranch-style cabin was just as neat as all the photos depicted!

Charming Rustic Cabin!
This place is amazing. Never a dull moment and never a dull space. Keep in mind that you are staying on a farm so prepared to get a bit dirty, but the sinks and showers are great and very comfortable. By the time you leave you will want to take all of the dogs with you. The hosts cooked us a pancake and orange juice breakfast that had amazing presentation. One of the dogs (Chancho) lead us out of the property for about a quarter of a mile when we were leaving. Couldn't of asked for a better goodbye. Would totally stay here again. Great place for a couple to stay. Great place for a group of friends to stay.
An amazing cabin and hosts. We stayed here on the way back from Moab and so glad we did. Our two girls (aged 8 & 10) loved the ranch. We had a fab sunset horse ride and then our girls helped feed all the horses in the morning. They did not have want to leave. Five friendly dogs to keep you busy as well! Great kitchen and shower room as well.
The pictures of this place did not do it justice. My only regret is that I didn't have more days to relax at this amazing, secluded little spot. Jake went above and beyond to ensure our stay was cozy and comfortable; from lighting a fire to cranking up the electric blankets. You can tell that the cabin was a labor of love, built by the hands of Jake and is sons, not to mention a feast for the eyes. I have stayed a plethora of times at various airBnbs and bed and breakfasts and this sweet little abode undoubtedly takes the cake!

Charming Rustic Cabin!
Our stay at the ranch was magical! We were hoping to ride horses, which is why we chose to stay here, but the unusually rainy weekend prevented that from happening. Nonetheless, the property is beautiful, the cabin was super cozy, and everyone we spoke to was so warm and friendly. We ended up just staying in for the night, building a fire and cuddling up under the electric blanket. I will definitely come back to ride someday because the surrounding area is so pristine.

We enjoyed our night in the cozy cabin. It's snug, and the bed very soft and warm. Some basic amenities like a coffee maker and water jug were much appreciated. The decor is very kitschy and cute, and the cabin looks like it was constructed by hand (I mean that in a great way). The location on the rim above the Colorado Monument was convenient to Grand Junction but also removed enough to feel quiet and let the stars out.
