Nestled in the heart of the San Juan Mountains, our campground stands out for its rich history and commitment to preserving the natural beauty of the area. Originally established in the 1960s as the Ponderosa Trailer Park and later known as Sportsman’s Supply Campground, it has long served as a haven for hunters and fishermen drawn to the region's abundant wildlife, including a large elk herd, pristine rivers, and expansive national forest land. As one of the most popular campgrounds in Pagosa Springs, our site was developed from the historic Toner/Taylor family homestead, which is still owned and operated by the family’s descendants. The area remains largely undeveloped, thanks to the vast stretches of national forest and the nearby Weminuche Wilderness, Colorado's largest wilderness area. This ensures that visitors can enjoy the tranquility and stunning landscapes that have attracted adventurers for decades. Since taking ownership in 2001, my wife Corinne and I, along with our children Jaden and Adley, have worked diligently to enhance the campground while preserving its rustic charm. Our general store, originally one of Pagosa Springs' first Texaco gas stations, was relocated to the campground in 1961 and has been recently remodeled to meet modern needs while retaining its historical appeal
