The 160 acre ranch was homesteaded by my grandfather over 100 years ago. He was an engineer. The plan was to use this property as summer grazing for his cattle. The cattle were wintered at the other ranch about 10 miles away, which was homesteaded by my great grandfather. Because my grandfather could survey, he made sure the property lines zigzaged up the valley so the small creek was in the middle to provide water for the animals. He chose well. It is a beautiful, quiet place with elk, deer and wild turkeys. There are tons of wild flowers in the summer. Columbines, the Colorado state flower, wild roses, paintbrushes and lots of wild chokecherries. With nice views of nearby mountains, open pastures, evergreen forests and aspen groves, it looks like it did 100 years ago. Plus, there are a couple of ponds for your dogs to cool off in. Since the first cattle, the ranch has also been home to goats, chickens, horses, and now more goats, alpacas and llamas. And of course the Great Pyrenees ranch dogs. I had a house built a few years ago and live on the property full time. The ranch is surrounded by Pike National Forest with the Colorado Trail connecting the property in a number of places. Some of the highest ranked mountain bike trails are nearby. There are lots of places on and off the property to hike, mountain bike and ride your horse. On a clear night you can see thousands of stars and hear coyotes howl. For a drone video of the ranch check out: YouTube's Midsummer 2020 Flyover. Elevation 8,000 feet, Average Summer Temperatures: Days 60-80 f, Nights 45-60 f, Sunshine Average 73-80%, Colorado Trail Segment 3, USGS Maps: Windy Peak; Green Mountain quadrangles. This is the official info. Basically, the weather is usually similar to the Denver area - just 10 degrees cooler. About 8 miles away is the small town of Bailey. It has just about everything you might need: small grocery store, coffee shops, gas, laundry, a dollar store, hardware store, camping and sports equipment, brew pub, winery, a few restaurants, potable water station and more.

#21 Sherwood Forest
Debbie is the best host! Each campsite has a metal firepit, and there is plenty of dead wood to collect to burn. This particular campsite on her property has plenty of shade. The views are so pretty, and the animals are fun to watch!

#2 Steller Jay
We had a great time at the Stellar Jay campsite! Seeing the llamas/alpcas/ponies just appear was an exciting surprise for everyone. The site was plenty big for our group of 6 and well shaded. The portapotty just across the road from our site was exceptionally clean and we watched it get maintained twice per day while we were there. The only downside was that it was a bit tough to find even ground for our tents, but this didn’t deter us from thoroughly enjoying our stay :)

Comfortable site
Nice plot of land. This camp site had lots of space and pretty views. You can see a few other campsites but far enough away you hear nothing. Ours kids LOVED the baby goats and alpaca that roamed around. We even saw a wild Turkey and 10 little babies. Fire pit with table and chairs was nice addition to the site. Also REALLY clean porta potty

#20 Little Meadow
#20 mid summer stay
Great spot, almost don't want to review so no more people know about it. Pros: easy to get there, site has tables chairs, fire pit, giant free wood pile, and a carport for shade, livestock graze through, and a well maintained outhouse. Cons: horse Flys can bite. Host also has pack of dogs for the livestock that can bark at night so bring earplugs if that is an issue for you, and let them do their jobs

#19 The Dog House
Perfect for Large Group Camping!
This campsite was absolutely lovely! My family goes on an big family camping trip every summer for the past 20+ years. We loved this spot so much that we will now make this our new go-to spot. It was a great open space that accommodates large groups, and plenty of room for all of our cars. We loved the animals that wandered down the hill to our campsite which provided us extra entertainment! We also appreciated the table and chairs that were provided with the site. Overall, my family had a wonderful time at this site and we look forward to returning next year and (hopefully) several years to come!

# 7 Ponderosa
I absolutely adored this spot! We stayed at Ponderosa and it was secluded, very pretty, and well taken care of! The land was beautiful and the hosts were incredibly kind! Me and my friends loved the animals on the property! We loved the little scavenger hunt and all of the maps that helped us find places to explore while were camping. We loved exploring the land and loved the property itself! We all agreed that we would definitely be going back and visiting the goats!!! Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a nice camping area with amenities and a lovely atmosphere!! Also thank you to Debbie for making us feel at home and comfortable during our visit!
