The House where we live is the corner stone of the Bruce Property and is on the Colorado Register of Historic Houses. The residence was constructed between 1905 and 1912, using red bricks made on the site. John and Sophia Bruce, early pioneers in the North Fork Valley, were first involved in cattle raising. The family later became successful fruit growers. Located along the West Elk Loop, a Colorado Scenic and Historic Byway, the large two-story residence features a steeply pitched hipped roof with prominent attic dormers. As a guest of Riverwalk you will have full access to the river during your stay. In addition, there is the Riverwalk Trail System that skirts the North Fork of the Gunnison River from the top of the property, by the Riverwalk Yurt, (available on this site) meandering downstream past the Riverwalk TIPI (available on the site) passing the Grove Yurt (available on this site) and terminating at the bottom of the property with the sandy Riverwalk Beach. There is a trial that zigs through the Cottonwood Grove and zags back along the gentle Monitor Ditch skirting a newly planted grove of young trees. For RV Campers we provide 2- 30amp,1-50 amp and 1- 110-amp electrical services and potable water. There is a dump station available. There is also access to our heated shower house with running water and bathroom amenities (<3 min. walk, may be shared with other guests). The property is perfectly geared to groups of friends gathering in a central location between the onset of the Rockies and the termination high desert to the west. Friends or family will reserve both Yurts and the RV Site for a perfect reunion setting!

Tipi camping with Shower House

Perfect getaway near Paonia

The property was beautiful, Tipi and Shower House were perfectly equipped with everything we could want. George was a wonderful host, keeping everything in tip-top shape and giving us local tips on a shortcut to Big B's venue, coffee shops in Hotchkiss, etc. What a lovely place! We hope to make this a yearly trip!

Grove Yurt

Simple Elegance - don’t miss out!

This is a remarkable combination of simple elegance. Despite the yurt itself having no electricity, plumbing, or Wi-Fi, its beautifully appointed and every single amenity is cleverly provided. Inside jugs of fresh water are stocked beneath the propane stove to feed the drip coffee maker. The kitchen area is fully stocked with pans, plates, cups, utensils, papertowels, TP - you name it. A king bed with thick blankets keep you warm. A wood stove, couches, chairs, and dining tables (with games & puzzles) provide many entertainment options. The yurt is tastefully decorated with George’s paintings, sweet carvings, and a delightful rocking chair. Just ten steps out the door is a composting toilet cleverly disguised as a little horse trailer. Robes and towels are included for the 3-minute walk to a hot shower where outlets can also be found to charge your phone. An outdoor kitchen just a few steps away includes a large sink with running water, lots of counter space, a bear-proof icebox, and a hefty gas grill. A large fire ring and plenty of firewood are readily available just a few steps from the river. Trails thru the property and alongside the river are wide and well maintained. All this is a short (1/2 mile?) walk to Big B’s fruit grove where you’ll find rows of apples, pears, grapes (you name it) a store, a restaurant, a bar, and, often, entertainment. In short, this is a perfect place to get away from it all.

Shaded Camp site on gentle canal

I loved camping on George’s land! We were there for the show at Big B‘s, which is right next-door and an easy walk there. I loved all the little touches such as tables and chairs to sit on, hammocks, solar lights, and a full bathroom. I also liked that it didn’t feel crowded. Would definitely camp here again!

Shaded Camp site on gentle canal

A great campsite in a cool area!

George and Devon are excellent hosts. The campsite had everything (and more) that we needed for a relaxing and fun 3 days in the Paonia area. The site is thoughtfully furnished with metal tables and chairs, a hammock chair swing, a fire pit, and other interesting touches. The communal shower house was really great - super clean with a very nice shower and bathroom, and lots of hot water. The riverwalk trail is fun for exploring the property, and there are amazing artistic creations to discover as you wander around. The canal flowing past the campsite and the riverfront beach were great for cooling off us and our dogs during the heat of the day. We are looking forward to our next chance to come visit again.

Riverwalk RV Site 1

Completely appreciated the generosity and hard work of the hosts in sharing their beautiful land with campers. Just lovely! Easy to find, creative artistic aspects, and awesome bathroom. The creek was close and clean and there was a wonderful short walk alongside it. This is the best place I have ever camped and I plan to return. Thanks!!!
