We really enjoyed this campsite as it sits at the top of a bluff with amazing views and star gazing, it is a very quiet campground and the RV park close by was also very quiet. It has a nice clean bath house within a short walk. The campsite doesn't always have fire pits out, so you will want to check with the host if campfires are a possibility before you go. Host was responsive and helpful, and they provide a phone number for questions when you arrive at the site.

Pros: The location is good. Close to Penrose, Cañon City, Etc. Somehow, the gate code was not included with the instructions through the Hipcamp app, but I called the number at the gate, and someone picked up the phone right away and came and escorted me to my spot. Water was good, and hookups worked. The park seemed quiet at night. Cons: It had just rained before I arrived. The clay/dirt was super muddy from the storm and stuck to everything. They could stand to put some bedrock down at least in the RV stalls as a way to reduce tracking mud everywhere. There is a new restroom which was cleaned daily. There is only one toilet for the whole facility. I had to wait a long time to use it this morning. The shower seemed OK, but I did not use it.

Stayed one night on our way further west. The views are nice, and the park itself was quiet although you do still hear road noise from the main road. Our site had a large depression in it which was slightly inconvenient when hooking up to Water and Sewer. Would not have been able to get our steps out without raising the camper eight or nine inches , so we just moved our camper over to the level area that had gravel on it.
