The tent sites surround a central meadow with a community fire pit which is shared by campers from all five sites. There is also a small trout pond with a sun deck- ideal for morning yoga or relaxing in the evening. A babbling creek winds through the camp. We have a clean outhouse centrally located near the vehicle parking. Papa T's is only 5 miles from downtown Salida and 2 miles from Arkansas river access, but feels much further away because of the remote and peaceful feel of this special place. Talmage is a helpful host with advice about restaurants, local hikes, fishing, boating, and other outdoor pursuits. There are plenty of large trees ideal for hammocks and relaxing in the shade. It is unusual to find a 22 acre parcel of wooded land this close to Salida. We feel lucky to be here and have made many many memories sharing this special spot with friends and family over the years. * Fires may be allowed in the community fire ring only if conditions allow. Because the status of fires may change quickly, please try to be understanding of local guidelines as well as the judgement of the host. Thank you! ** Always ask if you would like to arrive early or depart late. I'm happy to accommodate if I can- but please ask. *** I may be able to allow small campers but that depends on current capacity. Ask FIRST and let's try to work it out. Site 1 TENT ONLY

A very special place

This was the most cared for and well maintained camp we’ve stayed at. The site was very large and comfortable and close to the larger communal area. Everyone we met there was friendly and fun. Talmage was a great communicator before and during our stay. Our kids loved it - lots of space to ride bikes, games to play, bugs to catch, and a little slide off the deck. We will definitely stay again.

Site 5 TENT OR SMALL RV

Poncha Springs/Salida is a midpoint stop on the way from SW Colorado to the Front Range. Talmage has a nice quiet spot not too far off main road with easy access to Salida attractions. Gravel road in good shape, very welcoming.

We had a great time at the camp: simple but sufficient. Talmage was very welcoming and we had a nice time hanging out at the pond and roasting marshmallows with the other camper family. Great place, very conveniently located near Salida. We will definitely come back. Thanks,Talmage!

Site 5 TENT OR SMALL RV

We had a great time at Papa T's! Talmage and his family are very warm and welcoming. Campsite 5 was perfect for us - quiet, shaded, and with some nice views. We loved the communal fire pit and getting to know everyone on site. Our 7-year-old son was very sad to leave!

The land was beautiful, it’s well shaded and had a tiny stream running through and you could hear the trickling of the water running down stream through the night. So relaxing.
