This cozy campsite sits just off Highway 24 and only a few minutes from the charming town of Hartsel. You will enjoy wide open mountain views and sunsets that will stay with you long after your visit. Whether you love fishing, hiking, or gravel biking, this spot is a perfect base for your adventure. Fairplay is only twenty minutes away and Colorado Springs is just over an hour, making this a convenient and peaceful escape. Before your trip, be sure to check the fire ban status in Park County since the winds can pick up at times. The property is open meadowland with no trees for shade during the day, so plan accordingly. The driveway is dirt but easy to access, and even small cars make it in just fine. Review the property layout image before you arrive so you know exactly where to go and what to look out for. If you are car or tent camping, bring warm clothes for the cool evenings, a comfortable spot to sleep, and of course some bug spray. Most importantly, relax and enjoy the quiet beauty of the land and the night sky. While the guideline mentions one car per site, you are welcome to bring friends. With a small additional fee, you can have up to two cars and four people per site so you can share the experience together. Take a moment to look over the access and campsite image before your arrival, and keep in mind that GPS will drop a pin in the middle of the property. This campsite is right off Highway 24 and is only a few miles/minutes from the town of Hartsel. Gorgeous mountain views and sunsets will make this a site you will never forget. The nighttime sky is one like no other! One of the few places in Colorado that offers little to no light pollutions. With world-class fishing, hiking, and even gravel biking. The sunsets here are like no other. Only 20 mins from Fairplay and is only a little over an hour from Colorado Springs. Please make sure to check the fire ban status in Park County before deciding to camp as it can get gusty. There are also wild horses in the area so please bear that in mind when camping on the property. There are no trees on the lot and the driveway is just dirt but shouldn't be a problem since my Audi S5 can make it, lol. Check out the image of the property layout so you know where your assigned spot is. Also, refer to this image as there are a couple hazards on the property.If tent camping: Make sure to bring warms cloths for the evenings and have a warm place to sleep if car/tent camping. Other than bringing bug spray as with any camping trip, have fun and safe camping! Even though it says only one car per site, if you want more than just two people you can pay the additional fee and have up to two cars and four people per site. There is an RV parked on the property as well but feel free to camp anywhere around that.

Awesome views and a beautiful area at the top of Colorado. It was nice and quiet on a very busy weekend in the area. If you are tent camping, I recommend bringing a canopy if sunny in the summer as there is no shade at the site.

Mountain View’s + Wild Horses

We had a great stay at this site! We ended up scooting over closer to site 2 next to the fire pit since we were the only ones there and it was perfect. The Mountain View’s are lovely - and the big hit was the wild horses! They stopped over one morning for some attention and it was such a cool experience getting to spend the morning petting them!

Absolutely beautiful spot. I spent so much time soaking up both the day and nighttime views. Host mentioned there are sometimes wild horses that pass through, I had hoped to spot some but didn't. How cool though!! Very easy to find and access, take note of the directions and photos provided by host in the listing. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

It was a pleasant stay in my camper van, i enjoyed the beautiful landscape and the band of wild horses in the distance. I would definitely spend another couple nights in this location when I'm next in the area!

When the property owner(s) said wild horses, they were not kidding 😂. Had four come up to my campsite begging for food. The sunsets here are epic and the milky way is out of this world! Highly recommend this location! Hartsel is just a stone’s throw away and the campsite gets good reception. Also good hiking about 20 minutes east of it with the Platte lazy river and then Buena vista not too far away. Definitely a great location if you want an inexpensive campsite for the night. I drive to it just fine in my low sitting car.

Out Of This World Experience!

We absolutely loved parking our Winnebago Class B camper van (2-wheel drive) on RICHARD‘s land! The directions were easy to follow - look for the metal sign laying on the ground with a spray-painted 2 and an arrow. Site 1 was over the way and beside us, and I understand that’s the owners RV, so we had the whole place to ourselves. The flat terrain, carpeted with unusual, plant formations, with a view of the mountains all around in the distance, was unlike anything we’ve ever experienced! The site is easy access, even for a sedan and once parked, you will be able to enjoy big sky vistas, unbelievable starry nights (no light pollution whatsoever), and get a good nights sleep, as the only sound you will hear is that of your own breath. We highly recommend this site for anybody who wants to enjoy a super cool, out of this world experience!

Perfect location feels private. Beautiful view. Very windy at times so tents would be a hard pass to camp here but if sturdy maybe could make it. Hard to say.

The spot was fine and the views were great. I mean it is South Park after all. The entry onto the property could have definitely been better well marked and a little bit wider. We don't have a huge camper but it was kind of difficult getting in there without running over the rocks as well as the hazardous pieces of metal that lined the driveway. I assume the horses there are wild but mentioning them wouldn't be a bad idea. As cool as they were, they actually became quite a menace by the end of our stay. Kept trying to get our food and started leaving us little "presents" in our camp area. Again... If they are wild I understand it's not your fault but some sort of mention of them would be nice.

Directions on website doesn't match what's there, no site markings. Talked with Debbie the closest neighbor and between her and my texts of we figured it out. Camping was quiet, views awesome especially sunrise and sunset. Id camp there again now that I know where to go........ Thanks for the help Debbie

Absolutely amazing place to stay! Close to the highway and easy to find which was perfect for us since we were just stopping on our way through for a night. The land itself is a stunning meadow filled with wildflowers. It's the perfect place for star gazing with very little light pollution from nearby towns. We were able to get the best picture of the milky way that we have ever taken! Host is very friendly as well.
