I landed in the valley 10 years ago, I love everything about it, except maybe the wind. A few years ago rentals were difficult to find so I bought a self contained camper and saved money to build what I have now. I'm off grid and still building. It's challenging, frustrating, wonderful, and satisfying. I feel lucky to have a price of earth that's mine. I will be creating more medicinal herb gardens and magic spaces as time goes on. Just ask if you'd like to learn about the herbs and flowers in the garden, or off grid building and living! Learn more about this land: Welcome to my little peice of Earth! At the north end of the San Luis Valley near Villa Grove, Colorado. If you just need a place to rest or staying a few days to explore the valley; you will be in awe at the sunrise and sunsets, mountain views, coyotes howling, and dark skies. We are conveniently located close to hiking, skiing, horse back riding, river rafting, biking, the Great Sand Dunes, and Penitente. We are 25 miles from Salida and Crestone with only a few miles of dirt road off hwy 285 makes getting to camp easy. After your fabulous day of playing in the mountains Valley View Hot Springs and Joyful Journey Hot Springs are just a few miles away. We are 420 friendly, and only 2 miles away from recreational marijuana. We also love dogs who don't chase the cats that roam the property! Be astonished but the peaceful grandeur, vastness, and beauty of the San Luis Valley, I hope you enjoy your visit to our amazing valley!

Amazing gem in Colorado!
Beautiful! This a great place in Colorado! Jennifer owns an amazing piece of land and provides two primitive campsites. We stayed there for a few nights and totally loved the view, watching the change of weather, etc. Stargazing at night is amazing! Even tough the camp is somewhat close to the street, be assured you don’t hear any traffic! Another plus: We had great cell signal (visible and Verizon) so it was easy for us to work there as well ( we didn’t need to use our booster).

Amazing views and freindly host.
Loved my stay here. Simple, quiet with amazing views! Jen is super nice and very accommodating. Easy to get to also. The sights are numbered and even have little solar lights and a place to hang a lantern. Cant wait to stay here again!

Little Camp on the Prairie
Great site! Wide open views, and ideally located for stopping for the night on the way to more distant adventures. Jennifer was very accomodating and responded quickly to messages. The area is high desert, so there are baby prickly pear plants around, but they are easy to avoid. Beautiful night skies, beautiful morning views. The orange kitty came out to say hi as we were having breakfast.

Little Camp on the Prairie
This was a good spot on Jennifer's land that definitely served its purpose for us during a busy holiday weekend. Close to JJs hot springs and not far from Crestone. We caught a beautiful sunset and a nearly full moon. Jennifer was very nice and flexible. Lots of shrub and cactus around so wear appropriate shoes and have a tarp for your tent. Also there's no privacy for potty needs -- not even a tree to squat behind. So just be aware and prepared. We do recommend the site though if you're looking for a place to set up camp in the area.
