We absolutely loved it here! We cannot wait to go back next year. Easy back-in RV spot. Dan met us when we arrived and even helped us set up our pop-up. Our kids loved Dan and all the cool things he had around his property to show them. The wildlife was plentiful!

Secluded camping with native wildli

A small, private campground. Dan, our host, was awesome! My wife and I truly enjoyed our stay, there. It was extremely peaceful and rejuvinating. several deer stopped by our rv, hoping for snacks. Yes, yes, I know.. "Don't feed the wild animals." Mrs. doe did receive a handful of grapes, whilst Mr. Buck stood there, supervising. We were also visited by a fox. A mother bear w/cubs performed a late nigh,, on-camera cameo at the back of the campground. 2 or 3 rv sites, a couple of tent areas, and 2 cabins, snuggled up, at the bottom of the mountain. Sweet.

I recently had the pleasure of parking my van at an incredible spot that truly exceeded all expectations! Nestled in a picturesque location, this beautiful cabin and cowboy retreat offered all the necessary hookups and a serene atmosphere that made my stay unforgettable. Every morning, I was greeted by the sight of deer gracefully wandering through the area, adding a touch of magic to the experience. A special shoutout to Dan, who went above and beyond to share his knowledge about the charming town nearby. His warm hospitality made me feel like family, and I can’t thank him enough for his insights and friendliness. If you're lucky, you might even spot Bigfoot on your visit—just make sure to hide your snacks; I hear he's quite the foodie! This place is truly a gem, and I can’t wait for my next stay. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delightful escape!

We have a Class B camper van and the RV site at Dan’s worked great for us. Plenty of room and Dan had a fire pit for us ready to go (firewood included). The site had beautiful aspen trees and plenty of wildlife to admire. Dan was a wonderful host and shared a wealth of information about the area! Would absolutely recommend Dan’s place!

Dan is wonderful, kind and helpful and knowledgeable about hike. He was very responsive too. Cabin was good if u are small as we are, talker or heavier people might find it a bit crowded. Clean quarters. Great mattress, pleasant grounds and wildlife. Hot shower and bathroom as described and good after a day’s hike. We liked the place!

Weekend getaway

We loved staying at Dan's Cabin - Outlaw Bunks which was exactly as described, cozy, convenient and with the amenities you would look for in a quiet vacation stay. His property is in the middle of an Aspen grove that makes it all the more interesting with plenty of deer around. Dan was a great host, always eager to respond to any questions, provide great recommendations and share some interesting stories. I would definitely recommend his place for anyone looking for a nice experience in the woods and still be accessible to the nearby attractions like Mueller State Park, Florissant, Cripple Creek, Victor etc

Book it and don’t look back

Wow… where do I start. This was legitimately my favorite hipcamp I’ve ever been to. Dan is the man, an absolute wonder of a human. The little cabin was clean, tidy, and was super cozy. Price was extremely fair and the bathroom was very nice. We drove almost 2000 miles to this hipcamp, so it being as nice as it was when we arrived was amazing. We will be back, I couldn’t recommend this place more!

Dan's HIdeout RV Spot was nestled among pine and aspen trees with beautiful views and wildlife passing by. He's hand crafted a fun and inviting space for both grown-ups and kids in an old west, mining in the mountains theme. It blends perfectly with any privacy you want. Dan stopped by to ensure we were set up with everything we needed. As we're pretty new to camping in our RV, he graciously helped with parking the trailer and getting it properly hooked back up to the truck. He shared great tips for fishing and sightseeing, too. We had a wonderful weekend and highly recommend staying at here. 10/10!!

The old west

The host was very nice and informative regarding the wildlife that was around as well as things to do. He had provided nice accomodations and if needed he was open to text or call if there were any issues. The area around was very quiet and relaxing. He really likes the old west and wants to expand to make it more western themed

I had no idea that this was a 3 site campground. I was hoping for others there. The site is ok; it does have trees all around and adequate rest room facilities. I wouldn't go back simply due to the few number of sites.

Mini Woodland Adventure

The host was very friendly and helpful. It was an adorable, quaint little cabin for a weekend getaway. It is close to town, so it had nearby neighbors (it is not secluded). There were deer that visited each morning, and it is close to Mueller State Park.

A great getaway in the forest

What a beautiful retreat tucked away in the heart of Sherwood Forest! There is so much wildlife in Dan’s place, making it feel truly special. We had a wonderful stay with our two young kids. Dan is an exceptional host. As newcomers to trailer camping, we were so grateful for his help in getting everything set up. He even started a campfire for us, something we rarely get to enjoy with little ones keeping us busy every minute of the day.. It is also a great location to get to Mueller state park, the Colorado wolf center and other great places. Thank you Dan for the hospitality, and the beautiful gift from your forest that we will cherish in our home!

Dan the man!

Staying here felt like visiting a friend! We were beyond comfortable. Dans place had all we needed and he also provided so many extras. The reviews were completely accurate. He was so kind and helpful! He was so great with our two girls and we spent most evenings chatting with him around the fire and night. We will for sure be back to stay again and will not hesitate to share with all my friends this gem of a place. There is no question his love for this little piece of land and those who visit here (including the wildlife 😆). Don't hesitate to book if your considering it... You will not be disappointed!

Dan's place is super fun. He's built in such cute touches everywhere like the swing, the mine, the saloon. We ran several hours late on a chilly night and he had a fire going for us when we got there. Dan himself is full of ideas for great things to do, especially with the kids. And you can't miss the deer and the foxes. We had such a great time and slept comfortably in the RV.

Camping with the animals!

Dan is a great host. Loved his property. He is wealth of information for tourist activities. We went to a VA motorcycle rally, hiked to Horsetail Falls, drove to Pikes Peak. Lots of wildlife coming into camp. We will definitely be back.

A Million Stars!

If I could give this site a million stars, I would. First, this is a small private campsite tucked in a dispersed neighborhood with a great personality. The neighborhood is named Sherwood Forest and all of the street names are on theme with Robin Hood. The campsite itself is cozy with just as much personality and enough amenities to be comfortable while enjoying the wilderness. On our first afternoon we saw mom and baby deer, foxes, hummingbirds, mountain chickadees, woodpeckers, and many other critters. Our kids absolutely loved the fairy garden, big foot/Sasquatch statue, and swing. We loved being tucked in the forest. Arguably though, the best part of this campsite is the host, Dan. He was so welcoming and helpful, first going above and beyond to rescue us when one of our small kids somehow got ahold of and lost the keys down the side of the van, then providing us guidance on everything we could do in the area that fit the age of our children. Our trip wouldn’t have been nearly as fun without him! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a great place to camp while exploring Divide, Woodland Park, Florissant Fossil Beds, or anything else in the area. I know we will be back!

The outlaw bunks were a great match for my family of three. The cabin is cozy, and the area is quaint. We loved the frequent visits from the deer and foxes. Dan is a great host and gave many great suggestions on enjoying the area. We visited the area to see the florissant fossil beds national monument and the Colorado wolf and wildlife center and both were conveniently close to the cabin. We also discovered some great restaurants and places to fish that were not a part of the plan and a pleasant surprise.

Our family of 3 had an amazing stay at Dan’s cabin. The cabin is clean, fully furnished and had literally anything you could possibly need for your stay. We were only able to squeeze two nights of camping into our Colorado trip but after the first night at the cabin we wished we could have stayed much longer! The location is very convenient and close to stores and nearby tourist towns while still being fully submerged into nature. We are looking forward to planning our next stay!

Dan's place was perfect! He isnso welcoming and has such a cutfamilies! He has a really nice bathroom which was a surprise! The wild animals come right through his property and he will make sure you have plenty of fire wood! This would also be a great place for multiple famlies!

Great accommodations and host!

Dan was a really great host. Gave us several really good recommendations in the area that we enjoyed and were glad we took his advice. Cabin was perfect for myself, and 2 other people. Bathroom was surprisingly nice, big and clean compared to any other similar place I’ve stayed in the past. Very convenient location to a ton of great hikes, Muller State Park, and a bunch of cool little towns. My wife and I will definitely be going back in the fall for the leaf changes. Great getaway in the Aspen forest

What we loved most about being on Dan’s land was his hospitality. He is lovely - very friendly, easy going, perfect tour guide for the community. Offered us all kinds of tips and advice - Let us borrow his battery charger for our river tubing excursion, made sure the kids had every opportunity to see wildlife and feed the sweet deer that visit the property frequently. He was great, while also giving us our privacy. Perfect host! The RV was right off the road which we weren’t expecting but turned out to be fine as the neighborhood is very quiet and you still feel you are out in the woods after all. We loved taking walks down the dirt roads surrounded by aspen groves. There is quite a bit to do and see in the surrounding towns; so much, in fact, that we didn’t get to cover it all! Great trip and great memories for us all. Thanks Dan!
