We have COMPLIMENTARY Wifi, Drinking Water, Ice, Hot Showers, Bathrooms, Shade, and an equipped Camper's Kitchen for our guests to enjoy from April 15 - Oct 15! There are TIPIS, CAMPING CABINS, TENT and BOONDOCK SITES. WE ALSO HAVE A NAVAJO HOGAN (wood yurt) OPEN-YEAR ROUND. All of our sites are not listed here. We can also accommodate groups and small events but not public events. We have a private covered group site as well. Bright Star Campground: Once used as a church camp, it is now a Campground for all to enjoy! We are a perfectly located vacation campground on 40 acres with amenities and wide-open spaces. Amenities include hot showers, an equipped community kitchen, a pavilion with hammocks, tables, ping pong, etc. Enjoy complimentary coffee, eggs, filtered drinking water and more. Bright Star Campground is located in the Great Sage Plain in the shadow of Mesa Verde National Park with panoramic mountain/mesa views of the Four Corners region, all only 5 miles southeast of Cortez. We are in an arid desert climate. Water is scarce, stored in cisterns for use in camp. Because of this we ask that you be conservative with water use in camp. We are a cannabis-friendly destination but ask that Cannabis use stay at your campsite, cabin or tipi. There are many things to do/see nearby: Mesa Verde National Park, Canyons of the Ancients, Hovenweep National Monument and Phil's World Mountain Biking. Raft down the Dolores river, maybe rent a SUP or kayak and chill on a quiet reservoir. There are museums and cultural centers in the area as well. Durango is 45 min, Telluride is 1.5 hrs away, and Moab is about 2.5 hours away-including Arches and Canyonlands National parks. The best/nearest airport is in Durango. Cortez has Denver Air (Key Lime Air) with connections to Denver and Phoenix. The nearest large international airport is in Salt Lake City or Albuquerque.

Mesa Verde V1 Campground w/Kitchen+
Fantastic Spot with Amenities
When we got to the site a heavy storm was on the way. They moved us to a covered area and allowed us some extra space to put our gear that had been rained on in Black Canyon. The kitchen had everything we needed to fix dinner. The couches and lounge area was perfect for hanging out. Finally, the showers were exactly what we needed after being in Rocky Mountain NP for a few days. And my kids loved watching the rabbits and prairie dogs.

UTE #2 Campsite w/Amenities & Views
Excellent place to camp.
We loved our stay at UTE #2. It was incredibly peaceful and the views were amazing. The showers, toilets, and kitchen were clean and well cared for. The attention to the little details were noticed and appreciated. The location was perfect for visiting Mesa Verde. The owner was extremely kind and we enjoyed our time with him.

UTE 1* RV site: Mesa Verde ~ 30 amp
Quality Spot
Fun facility. Open Land and quality facilities. The public kitchen and Playhouse is ideal, and our kids had a great time playing ping-pong, board games and darts. The hosts are extremely friendly, accommodating, and flexible with where you stay and how you camp. Great location to Mesa Verde national Park. Also a good place to camp overnight on a road trip. Highly recommend.

Sunrise Small RV site w/Amenities
Comfy camping near Mesa Verde
This place is a beautiful Oasis! Right next to Mesa Verde mountains. There is a kitchen with fridge, microwave, and toaster oven with plenty of utensils. Filtered water in the kitchen, too! Lovely covered patio with comfy furniture next to the kitchen. Clean toilets with vault toilets. Hot showers are a plus.! Canopy over picnic table at the campsite. The host is friendly and available by phone or text.

Lrg TIPI`Campground Near MESA VERDE
This was a beautiful property very close to Mesa Verde national park, the sunset here was stunning. We thought the hosts were friendly and welcoming. However our tipi was left open when we got to the campsite and full of crickets and gigantic wolf spiders. We had to leave by midnight because the crickets were so loud in our tipi and spiders were crawling on our bed. This is definitely for people who don’t mind bugs.

Chasing Moon Tipi facing Mesa Verde
Nice people, rough seating! 😂
Our Adirondack dbl seat chair was so splintery that I had splinters in my leg, back, and bum. Maybe sand it down? The tepee I was to use was ripped in a storm right before we arrived. Due to pure luck, a different site was available and the host was very kind in setting me up in a more expensive spot without the upcharge. The site is a good location to other places to see. The place was clean. It was what I expected for such a primitive stay.
