We have complimentary WiFi, drinking water, ice, hot showers, bathrooms, communal kitchen, and a shaded pavilion with picnic tables, art nook, ping pong, and more. We are open from April - October. All of our sites and amenities can be booked for retreats or events. There are two large covered pavilions. We customize reservations for small and large groups or longer stays. There are furnished tipis, camping cabins, tent/RV/van sites, and a Navajo Hogan (wooden yurt). Bright Star Campground: Originally established in 2012 as a church camp, it is now a place to connect, create, and rejuvenate in this spectacular high desert landscape. Bright Star Campground is located in the Great Sage Plain in the shadow of Mesa Verde National Park with panoramic views of the Four Corners region, and only 5 miles southeast of Cortez. We are a cannabis-friendly destination but ask that cannabis use stay at your campsite, cabin or tipi. There are many attractions nearby, such as Mesa Verde National Park, Canyons of the Ancients, Hovenweep National Monument and Phil's World Mountain Biking. Raft down the Dolores river, maybe rent a SUP or kayak and chill on a quiet reservoir. We are located 45 minutes from Durango, 1.5 hours from Telluride, and about 2 hours from Moab (Arches and Canyonlands National Parks). The nearest airport is in Durango. The nearest large international airports are in Salt Lake City or Albuquerque.

SUNRISE campsite enjoys all our amenities including a camp-kitchen and hot showers! Just 5 miles to Main Street, Cortez and 22 min to the entrance of Mesa Verde Nat'l Park. This shaded site has room to park campers/RVs up to 26’ next to the shade awning. 30 amp electric + a 110 and water on the grounds. Has nice views to Mesa Verde Nat'l Park and is closest to the bathrooms (not too close ;). Sunrise has a fire pit and picnic table. This is a campground with great amenities yet still rustic. Complimentary filtered drinking water, coffee, tea, cooking spices and ICE (not for filling chests or bottles over 1 gallon). Hot showers, Vault toilets have sinks with running water, and the central kitchen has everything you need to cook, hot plates and appliances, pots, utensils, large sink. There is also a fridge/freezer to use. See all the pictures! We provide dishes, you wash them, we provide the big sink, soap and hand towels.

Sitting in the shadow of Mesa Verde National Park's backside, enjoy 360 views! 5 miles from main street Cortez. Covered Tent/Van/Hammock site facing west. We have nice toilets, showers, and a central EQUIPPED kitchen for you to use with a covered pavilion. There is complimentary ICE, filtered drinking water (for small containers) coffee, tea, Pots, Pans, Utensils, Plates, etc for use and a dedicated refrigerator for camper's use. UTE VIEW #2 is named for its West view of the iconic Sleeping Ute Mountain. However, the views are 360 deg including Mesa Verde Nat'l Park to the East. A great site for Tents, Vans and RV's up to 27'. Tall 5th Wheels will NOT fit the turn. No hookups at this site but we have amenities. (our other UTE 2 site has water and 30 AMP, SUNRISE site has 30 AMP only) Bright Star Campground is just 5 miles from Main St, Cortez Colorado, and 22 minutes to the entrance of Mesa Verde Nat'l Park. The following are included and COMPLIMENTARY to our campers: WIFI KITCHEN: A community space equipped with drinking water, ice, dishes, appliances, a fridge/freezer, coffee, tea, spices, pots & utensils.. Dishwashing station, soaps & towels! HOT SHOWERS: 2 Shower houses with 6 stalls each VAULT TOILETS: The toilets are vault or "pit" but the sinks have running water COVERED PAVILION: Next to the Kitchen is a lrg community space, see pictures SWING SET: With small climbing structure Campsites include two people. There is an extra fee for up to five campers (per person). A sixth person under 6 yrs old is okay. No charge for guests under six, do not include them on the reservation. Dogs and Cats are OK, no charge (up to 3) and must be on leads or tie out. Bright Star Campground is one of Hipcamp's top campgrounds and awarded #3 in 2024 out of over 500 Colorado Hipcamps! We are a "Mom and Pop" locally owned commercial campground. Camp Hosts are always on site. Looking at Mesa Verde Nat'l Park and just 5 mi to Main St., Cortez, UTE VIEW 1 is a beautiful site on a spacious campground with 30 amp, water hookups and Wifi. No sewer but we have hot showers, toilets, a full kitchen with wash station, cooking appliances, pots, dishes and more just steps away.  It is wide and almost flat with panoramic mountain and mesa views. Ute View 1 is also close to the furnished pavilion for your use. Camp Kush is located in the Great Sage Plain in the shadow of Mesa Verde National Park with panoramic mountain/mesa views of the Four Corners region.  We also have Tipis, camping cabins, bunkhouses, tent and vehicle sites, a community kitchen, vault toilets with sinks, running water and soap, and again, hot showers. Our sites are spread out and this is not a concrete RV Park, it is on a wide open 40 acre rural ranch, yet convenient to downtown Cortez! Views are of Mesa Verde National Park and surrounding Mountains and Mesas.

This is a large pull-through Full Hookup RV Pad, RV not included. 30 amp and 50 amp. It is only for full-size RV's, 5th Wheels and Travel Trailers that are self-contained. Large Vans are okay if they have a toilet onboard. We also have electric-only sites for smaller RV types on the campground, near bathrooms. The StarPad has strong Wifi, Propane Grill, Picnic Table and Fire Pan. This double-wide Mesa Verde view RV Pad is quiet and enjoys amenities from our campground yet is separated by .2 mi on the same 40-acre property. The Star Pad has big views and wide-open spaces yet just 5 miles from downtown Cortez. It sits behind the "Starhouse" vacation rental home, yet most of the activity there is on the front porch facing East, not in the back so you still feel private as you will face West.  There is also a privacy wall fence between the house and RV Pad. The campground's amenities open MAY 20 in 2025 and are available to you, including hot showers, an equipped community kitchen, and Game Pavilion. Contact us at Bright Star Campground for larger group options combining multiple sites including tipis, tent and camping cabins, or the House. If you do not wish to be in ROWS of RVs and you want a scenic experience, this is for you! This site is not for 2 RV's such as 1 camper van + 1 C-class, it is for a single unit unless you contact us with details and approval. Check-in time ends at 10:00 pm. Thank you! It comes with a queen bed and a clean fitted sheet only. NO other linens or pillows are included. You can rent linens with pillows and towels or bring your own. It has chairs and a firepit. This is on a campground with amenities that include showers and a stocked kitchen to use. Bright Star Campground is located in the shadow of Mesa Verde National Park with panoramic views 5 miles from Cortez.  We have lots of fun campground amenities! These private cabins are rustic camping cabins. The Toilets, hot showers and equipped camp-kitchen with water, ice, appliances, pots and dishes for guest's use are centrally located and SHARED by the campground.  Juniper Cabin has a comfy queen bed that comes with a mattress pad and clean fitted sheet. BRING your own pillows, blankets and towels. (we have a different cabin that comes with full linens but this one, Juniper, is optional so you don't pay for what you do not need. These cabins have electricity and fans. They do not have AC or Heat and are not insulated (Summer nights are typically high 60's). The bathrooms, showers and kitchen are a short path walk away. The furnished pavilion also has a propane bbq grill and there is a firepit you can use for campfires. Raft down the Dolores River, maybe rent an SUP or kayak and chill on a quiet reservoir.  Take a day trip to Durango just 45 min drive, go to Sutcliff Winery for a tasting (25 min drive)There are several museums and cultural centers in the area as well. The road is paved until the last 1/4 mi. Any vehicle is fine but it can be bumpy on the last 1/4 mi.   Durango is 45 min and Telluride is 1.5 hr drive.  Moab is less than 2.5 hours away-including Arches and Canyonlands National parks. Phil's World Mountain Biking Trails is TEN MINUTES away.    The best/nearest airport is in Durango (airport is 1 hr 15 min), and the nearest large international airports are in Albuquerque or Salt Lake City.  However, Cortez Airport has options, see below.                  CORTEZ AIRPORT:  15 min to  Bright Star---DENVER AIR or Key Lime Air for commercial flights to Denver International Airport and Phoenix Sky-Harbor International Airport.  You can book a flight to Denver or Phoenix then a commuter on DENVER AIR to Cortez. The Durango Airport is 1.15 hrs drive and has many more options.

The base price includes 2 guests, it is $8 ea for additional people over 12 yrs and $5 for under 13 yrs. 4 adult max or 6 with kids (six people is okay if the 6th is under 6 yrs. We are "BRIGHT STAR CAMPGROUND" on 40 acres just 5 mi from Cortez, CO, and looking up at Mesa Verde National Park.  SAGE is a rustic bunkhouse on a friendly campground with amenities! It is NOT a shared bunkhouse (it's all yours) but you will share bathrooms, showers and a wonderful stocked campground kitchen with a fun pavilion attached.  The base price includes 2 guests. 3-6 Additional guests are $10 each, per night.  NO CHARGE for kids 5 yr and under. Do not include them on the reservation, but let us know in a message. Bunkhouses are basic shelter structures with electricity and fans. You bring your own bedding/linens or add "camper sets" for $10 in "extras".  A clean sleeping bag, pillow and towel is a "CAMPER SET". Camping-Cabin Bunkhouses do not have heat or AC, but evenings cool down and in the day our furnished Pavilion is a shadier cooler option to relax.  Bright Star is located in the shadow of Mesa Verde National Park with panoramic mountain/mesa views of the Four Corners region, all only 5 miles from Cortez. Durango is 45 min and Telluride is 1.5 hr drive.  Moab is 2 hours away-including Arches and Canyonlands National parks about 2.5 hrs. Phil's World Mountain Biking Trails is TEN MINUTES away.

ANASAZI TIPI is set on a campground with amenities. Bring your own linens/sleeping bags OR rent ours for a "laundry fee". It is camping w/extras. It has a tall Queen Air Mattress plus quality Futon and foam floor pads if needed. Tipis come with rugs, reclining camp chairs, etc! We have a camper's kitchen stocked with pots, appliances, a fridge/freezer, dishes, coffee, etc. Just bring your food. We provide spices, coffee, oil, filtered drinking water, ice, dish soap and a big sink to wash dishes. We are just 5 mi from downtown Cortez and 22 min to the Mesa Verde NP entrance. This large 20' deluxe Tipi has a portable solar light and a small battery fan w/light, a table and a trash can for convenience. There is a fire pit and chairs. The base price includes 2 guests. 5 max guests in this Tipi but if you have a 6th child under 6 yrs, that's okay, no charge! Extra guest fees per day are for the showers and other amenities on-site. SKY Cabin is a private "camping camping" with electricity, fans, but no AC.  In the Summer the nights cool down as we are at 6100' "high plains/desert" BRIGHT STAR CAMPGROUND is just 5 miles from Main St. in Cortez and 22 minutes to the Mesa Verde entrance. It has 360 deg views spanning from Mesa Verde Nat'l Park, to Sleeping Ute Mountain. The Cabin shares the Campground's bathrooms, showers, kitchen and pavilion.  Sky Cabin comes with a nice queen bed . Bring your own linens, or rent ours. There is also a wall of six bunks. The base nightly price includes 2 guests. Up to 5 additional guests are $10 each per night. Children under 6 yr are free (do not include them in the reservation).   Please see all the pictures! For Pets, please select the number of pets in EXTRAS For adding Queen Linens or Sleeping Bags "Camper Sets" select that in EXTRAS. You will have close access to the following: A community kitchen stocked with dishes, pots, utensils, spices to use. Nice pit toilets sinks with running water and hot showers.  A furnished pavilion for shade, dining, ping pong, BBQ and hammocks is next to the kitchen. It has filtered drinking water, Ice, and everything you need to cook. There is complimentary coffee and often farm-fresh eggs for the taking.   On our 40 acres we also have four large Tipis (furnished and unfurnished), a fully equipped vacation house (The Star House), bunkhouses, tent sites, RV sites. For larger groups, 8-50 people, we have a big covered group site and we can also customize reservations using multiple sites. For big groups of up to 65 people, you can rent the entire campground but at least 6 months advance is usually needed.

Loved it! A high open plain ringed with mountains: Mesa Verde and Ute close, Telluride, San Juans and Bears Ears on the horizon. Immaculately clean and generous kitchen and dining/hanging out areas. The tent/RV sites are very basic but the rest makes up. Great hosts, dark sky. Didn’t see inside the cabins but the hogan was lovely.

It is a remote space and you feel so small being surrounded by the mountains. Love this open, vast area that holds a space for people to be in nature safely. The kitchen is well stocked with goodies. Everything is a quick stroll away from the teepee. The bathroom has adorable art and quotes on the wall to brighten the space up. Our teepee was warm, spacious and cozy! It rained over night and listening to the rain hit the teepee was calming. Wish we were here for two nights, but we had a quick over night stay. Love this spot and would totally come back.

The place is very nice and clean overall. The kids loved the ping pong table, musical instruments and rock painting supplies. I really enjoyed the accomodations in the kitchen and the grill to make all of our meals. There was a community fridge, you could label all your food. There were dishes and cooking utensils, hot plates, toaster oven and microwave. There was also an ice maker machine. And everything was so clean! The only main issue: It is important to let people know if you rent a tipi and it rains, you will get wet. It rained for a few hours our 1st night, and we had paid extra for a tipi not knowing this, and we were wet and cold all night. I know you cannot predict the weather, as the owner stated, but it would be nice to understand that a tipi is open at the very top, so you have been warned in advance. Fortunately, one of the hosts was so nice and understanding and went above and beyond to ensure that our next night's stay in a cabin was more comfortable. It was cold, but not being wet was very pleasant. The beds in the tipi and the cabin were very comfortable as well as the pillows.

JUNIPER Camping Cabin by Mesa Verde
This place is absolutely stunning! I have never seen so many stars before and the campsites are spaced out far enough it felt liek a private retreat. They have restrooms, showers, and a community kitchen with every cooking utensil you may need. The restrooms were so clean and the camp manager was so kind!

I car camped here and had a super sweet one-night stay where all my needs were met. The land is beautiful, gorgeous sunset and sunrise, and it was sweet to have communal space like the kitchen, showers, bathrooms, and more. The camp hosts were very sweet and welcoming! I would definitely camp here again and would recommend it.

RAVEN Tipi ~ Mesa Verde Views
We enjoyed our stay. The Raven tipi was comfortable and spacious for three of us + gear. And to have the kitchen to use was fantastic! And the freezer & ice maker made our water situation for desert hiking so easy. Bathrooms were super clean. Shower building was good too. Rustic, and walled in, but open to the air. Chatting with folks from all parts of the US was a nice bonus too. And our second morning there, we were greeted by a raven perched on top of the tipi. Highly recommend. And if you walk the trails to the bathrooms at night using a headlamp, see if you can spot the sparkles on the ground.

Hospitality was top notch. If you’re not used to camping in a community space it can feel a bit different. Lots to do there, and Telluride is about an hour and a half away and so are the bridal veil falls. If you plan on going to Mesa Verde make sure to book your in advance because some of the areas are only accessible through tours.

We chose this site as a spot in between Great Sand Dunes and our next stop. It was a neat experience, pulling into the campsite with the sun setting -the sky was a vibrantly beautiful backdrop for the tipis. The tipi was spacious enough for our young family of 6, 2 adults in the bed, 2 bigger kids on the foldout futon and two littles on camping mats in the floor. Waking up to a sky lit up inside of a tipi was majestic! The camp kitchen, showers and bathrooms were useful. Kitchen was stocked for use, showers were creative and clean. Bathroom, while still a pit toilet, was painted and clean and well appointed. Put us very close to our next stop, Mesa Verde Natl park. Definitely bring your family here if you’re out this way, really memorable night for us, sleeping in a tipi!

The campground has amenities that most campgrounds do not have, such as a communal kitchen and ICE 👍 Also, really appreciated the carport to provide some shade during a hot summer visit. The campground itself was well laid out and quiet, even after families arrived, for 2 middle-aged folks. There was some minor issue with the hot water in the women's shower but otherwise the bathrooms were clean, well stocked, and centrally located. We will definitely be back (when there isn't a full moon) to watch the meteor showers, Kent!

I've stayed at this campground through 3 owners across the past 5+ years! I absolutely love staying here; especially with the new camp hosts who are incredibly groovy and kind. This campground is a great price and has a community kitchen, hot showers, games, a rock painting station, charging bank for phones, a hammock to read in, incredible stargazing, serenading sunsets, and a lot of cool stuff to explore within a short drive. I love this place and highly recommend it. I've stayed in the chapel, a tent site, and the cabins and I've had a wonderful stay in all of them. Thank you for having me! I'll definitely be back!

We had an amazing stay at this campsite! My husband, our daughter, dog, and I stayed in a cozy teepee that made the experience extra special. The amenities were excellent, and having access to the kitchen made meals so easy. Our daughter absolutely loved the playground, and we all enjoyed the incredible views of the stars at night. The location is perfect—just a short drive to Mesa Verde. Highly recommend this spot for families and anyone looking for a unique and safe stay!

SKY: Bunk Cabin ~ near Mesa Verde
An absolutely beautiful place to stop and rest! I roadtrip for running races and have always made it a point to stop here dating back to 2020. A unique and comfortable experience; this camp offer scenic sunsets, stargazing, a community kitchen, showers, games, a charging station, hammock to read in, rocks to paint, and the most kind camp hosts. I will always stay here and I highly recommend it.
