Welcome to our charming 2-acre meadow nestled in East Boulder. Just minutes from town - near bike trails, shops and restaurants. A great pitstop on your way to or from the mountains - or base camp for the adventures in Front Range. We aren't fancy, but we are convenient, cozy and safe. Gate code will be provided 48 hours before arrival. We have spots in the meadow for Tents, Motorhomes, Vans, Trailers, and Rooftop setups. The grounds are a bit sloped but we've got leveling boards (please leave them behind). We've got the world's best eggs, a few walking paths through tall wild grasses, a campfire ring, solar shower, wading pool, gas grill, a table and a lovely porta-jon. We offer a 13 foot canvas tent complete with a queen sized bed, electric fans, chairs, and a wood burning stove. We can handle RVs up to 45 feet - truck and trailer. It’s a big field, but a narrow, winding and steep gravel ramp to get in and out. We have a community fire pit with free burn wood, though the big logs are few and far between; your own firewood is recommended - as well as an ax or saw. If it's windy, please skip the fire... the BFD is very strict about this!! We have well water feeding a solar shower (only hot when the sun shines) and sink (non potable unless you have a filter). We have a wading / dog pool continually refreshed from the creek. I just built a new filter!! It’s a saving grace in the summertime. We have a community gas grill - please donate to the propane fund. Please help yourself to eggs up at the coop - look for the Venmo QR and WATCH OUT FOR THE ROOSTER! The chickens free range during the day, so please MIND YOUR DOG. Our toilet is a porta john, pumped clean every Thursday. THE GOOD: *Easy in and out location close to town *Lots of sun *Outdoor solar shower *Cold creek water plunge pool *Fresh eggs *Good view of small airplanes *Community fire pit *Community gas grill THE BAD: *Mosquitoes... they are long gone now, but late spring is rough! *Daytime road noise *Small airport nearby *No Generator *Almost zero shade *Shower only hot when the sun shines *Pool is fed from a creek *Good Morning Rooster Please reach out with any questions you may have. Tucked away on the eastern side is our walk-in tent area. Its a wide open meadow with lots of space. I've got a 9' umbrella at each site to provide a wee bit of shade. The walk from your car to the tent spots is only a handful of paces... they are very close. Please park bumper into fence between the signs in the designated “walk-in tent parking” area. If you would like to camp right next to your vehicle, please reserve one of our VAN spots.

The mid-section of our meadow fence line is reserved for vans, rooftop tents, popup trailers, teardrop trailers, and folks who want to set thier tent up right next to their vehicle. Please park bumper into the fence directly in front of one of the VAN signs. We’ve got leveling blocks right there for you, feel free to use them… also please leave them behind when you depart. If you are a bigger RV / trailer, please reserve our designated RV spot. If you are a ground tent dweller, you can reserve our walk-in tent spots, or grab one of these for car camping.

The western most corner of our meadow is reserved for larger RVs, as that is where the ground is most firm. It is easily accessed at the bottom of the entrance ramp. Please tuck yourself in nice and cozy in the corner there all to yourself. We can handle big RVs, but you need to be a confident driver. The road in and out is a steep and winding gravel driveway. If you are a lightweight vehicle towing a heavy trailer and you stop halfway up, you may not get going again. That’s only happened once, but it did happen. The trick is open the gate before you head uphill, and don’t stop! In fact, it’s a rule. I’m sorry but we don’t allow generators, no exceptions. They are simply too obnoxious for everyone else. I’d be happy to discuss with you how best to upgrade your rig to solar power. Trust me, it’s worth it. If you are a van, a rooftop tent, a popup trailer, a teardrop trailer, a motorcycle or a ground-tent dweller, we have those spots available too, and they are a few bucks cheaper.

Nested among waist high meadow grass in the summer, and snow in the winter, sits our 4 meter waterproof canvas tent. Complete with a queen sized bed, electric fans, USB charging, wood burning stove, chairs, and solar lights, it offers gentle respite and unparalleled convenience to Boulder. It’s a tent in the middle of a Colorado meadow, so expect a bug here and there. Swat mosquitoes to your hearts content, but please try to be nice to the spiders. They are friendly and eat the nasty bugs. If you can’t ignore them, holler at me and I’ll remove any who moved in since I cleaned it last. None of them bite. Historically, this was a site for ancients to do journey work. We honor that tradition with guided experiences. Inquire with us about a guided journey. Make sure to bring your own bedding, as only a clean fitted sheet is provided. On warm days the tent gets hot in the sun but stays cool at night; makes for a great night’s sleep but a warm afternoon nap. Two electric fans are included and do a decent job when you stick one in an open window. In winter the sun does a good job providing warmth, and a small wood-burning stove does the rest. Watch out for small children and pets re the stove. It gets hot! We allow dogs on a case by case basis: you must accept a small per pet cleaning fee (max two), participate in honest communication re damaged / peed upon items - and consent to their replacement at your cost. Camping was fine. As described. Access and exit through gate could be difficult for a towed rig ot large RV. Valmont is a busy road and there is little room before entering gate to property.

Clear directions. Arrived after dark and easy enough to enter. Appreciated that a last minute, late arrival was no problem. Loved the pathways in the meadow and wish I had more time to explore in the daylight. It was a very quick stop over. Rooster wasn’t too loud too early :) Didn’t meet hosts IRL but extremely friendly via text.

This was a lovely field next to a river and super close to Boulder and to a variety of stores one might need on a trip. I didn’t meet Patrick but he was very responsive and gave useful information. The site is clean and orderly.

JOURNEY TENT
Patrick's Journey Tent was exactly the kind of glamping experience that my friend and I were looking for to get away from the city life for a night. It's on a chicken farm but it's really clean and it's a fun experience to have the chickens follow us around! Patrick was great at communicating everything even before the trip started. He was very quick to respond to all our messages and even lit the wooden stove for us inside the tent to help us get the true glamping experience. We had a great time! I'll definitely be back here again:)

The tent was so cute with the tree lights in the inside and lights outside! I’m a sucker for staying somewhere with animals and I loved all the chickens running around. The tent was clean and really big but cozy! The bed was really comfy, too. The host gave really great directions and had all his ducks in a row! Great host :) There is a bee hole right next to the parking spot which was a little scary but other than that, I recommend!

I stayed in the Journey tent at Boulder Chicken Ranch during my trip to Colorado, and it was such a beautiful experience from start to finish. Pat was an incredible host—his hospitality went above and beyond. He gave clear instructions, shared helpful tips and advice, and was always quick to respond whenever I had a question. His generosity and care made the stay feel effortless. The property itself is very well maintained. The canvas tent was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully set up with a mattress, chairs, a fan, and access to electricity. I loved the outdoor seating area—it was the perfect spot to sit with a cup of coffee in the morning, listening to the rooster crow as the sunrise lit up the tent. This space truly allows you to experience a simpler, more natural way of living while still feeling comfortable and cared for. It was exactly what I was looking for: peaceful, grounding, and connected to nature. I can honestly say it was one of the most beautiful stays I’ve ever had, and I’m so grateful I chose here and will be back again and again! Highly recommend!

I really loved staying here, it was a beautiful little farm. I stayed for 4 nights in my Aliner with my cat and even though it was rainy/dreary weather, I still enjoyed the time! I got to meet the host Patrick and he was so kind and welcoming! Cute chickens and delicious eggs. So close to stores and things to do in Boulder but feels nice and peaceful. I showered at the Y so didn’t need to use the solar shower which was good cause it was so cloudy but it still looked like a nice set up. Not too private though. There was a sink by the shower too which was useful for washing dishes. The porta potty was very clean!

WALK-IN TENT CAMPING
After our flight was delayed by hours and messed up our original camping plans we had to scramble to find a spot that could accommodate 4 nights over a holiday weekend. The instant booking of Patrick’s place saved us!! We really appreciated the umbrellas at each tent site and the sink attached to the shower. Porta-potty was cleaned right on time and during the day the spiders were nowhere to be seen. We were close to anything needed (including a Planet Fitness where we showered a couple times) which was really helpful because we had originally planned to camp for only one night. Loved the vibe and would highly recommend!!

Charming Meadow Campsite

This was a sweet meadow spot near a lake. Pack for a lake/ meadow ecosystem - no bears, just raccoons and mosquitoes. My kids thought the chickens were charming and the rooster slept in :). Port a potty was very clean.
