Camping Under the Milky Way Galaxy
We loved our stay! It was absolutely beautiful & Evelyn was such a gracious host. I'd highly recommend this Hip Camp to others 😊

Mismanaged property = bad camping
Believe the reviews. The listing is confusing and misleading. There are no port-a-potties. No running water. No defined camping spots. Evelyn overbooks. There were approximately 25 cars/groups and another 5-10 who looked around and left. In its current state the property shouldn’t have more than 5-10 total groups. Despite the listing saying otherwise,
Overall I’d say the property is extremely mismanaged. Littered with trash. We had to pick up the trash left from the property’s caretakers when they left it strewn everywhere. Our fellow campers were, like us, surprised about the missing amenities. Which meant everyone was crapping and peeing anywhere.
Lots of dead dry trees waiting to fall over or start on fire.
If Evelyn designated 5-10 spots, installed a couple outhouses, added fire rings, fell the dead trees, removed junk laying around, and limited the number of reservations, it would be fine.
In its current condition. I wouldn’t recommend this place. The only situation that might make sense is if you basically need a parking lot to park and sleep the night before you run Mags or surrounding trails. If you want something more, keep looking.

I did not actually go to this location for a number of reasons including cost of renting a portable toilet and a table. Toilets may be the weak link in hipcamp. I did email host on a couple of occasions with questions and was a little disappointed that there was no response but there could be a number of legitimate reasons for this.

Evelyn was the most wonderful camp host I've ever met. I've traveled the entire country and stayed in hundreds of camps and top of the world waa my best experience yet. There were many people there for holiday weekend and navigating that many personalities can be challenging but evelyn was on top of her game. There was concerns with campfires but evelyn is prepared with waters, fire extinguishers, proper fire pits and I personally never felt they were to high or inappropriate. I would give her galaxy's of stars if I could.

Amazing Dispersed Camping
Evelyn has an absolutely beautiful property with a great location outside of Nederland! I loved the dispersed camping that was offered. I would highly recommend showing up earlier in the day to get an idea of where the driveway is as it can be difficult to see later at night. The drive way is steep and long, follow it back to the end to find the best spots! We will be returning for sure!

Would Not Recommend
This was okay, but really only because the area was beautiful. If the host had a full house I'm not sure where people would have stayed. There was no clear trail/path to get to our designated camp spot, so we just found a spot to set up.. could definitely see multiple houses, also heard some target practice but never saw people walking around. Was a beautiful drive in from Denver, for sure. Only people we saw were those staying at the house/glamping area when we first pulled in, and the people who came after us wondering around also looking for the trail/path was and how to get to their designated spot. They, too, ended up picking a place and setting up. The listing never mentioned the driving conditions until after booking, either. Also couldn't get in touch with the host until the following day in our stay. Never saw any toilets/porta pottys, no water either. Overall, we wouldn't recommend, but the area is beautiful.
