Welcome to Yosemite Colfax Spring! Home to a basecamp for river rafting trips during the summertime, we are located 15 minutes driving distance to the entrance to Yosemite National Park. If you are staying with us between May - September and want to come rafting, ask us about our river trips! Our camp sits on a ridge with views down into the Tuolumne River Canyon. The Tuolumne River begins at 13,000 feet of elevation in the High Country of Tuolumne Meadows and provides drinking water for over 2.7 million people in San Francisco. With cedar and pine trees, manzanita bushes, and wildflowers in the spring, enjoy the Sierras' flora and fauna. Our family has been operating our river rafting company for over 50 years, the last 11 of those years being here at Colfax Spring. Conveniently located off Highway 120, we are in close proximity to swimming holes, hikes, and more. Enjoy the privacy of our campsite and getting world-class views to yourself, with all of the amenities (flushing toilets, wi-fi, showers.) Make sure to check the Yosemite National Park website for information about reservations to visit the park!

The Merced Campsite offers the most privacy, tucked away into a grove of cedar, pine, and oak trees. This site is for tents and small campervans only - there is not enough flat space for a large RV at this spot. There are perfect trees to set up a hammock, a picnic table, and plenty of space for tents to set up. It is a three minute walk to the bathrooms and showers. The Bridalveil Falls deck across the road is available for Merced Campers as well to access the views!

(9) Tenaya Camp

Camp at the top of our hill overlooking the Tuolumne Canyon. Tenaya Camp (#9) has a purple picnic table, space for a tent or a small camper van, and incredible views. Please park near the Purple picnic table. Take the 2 minute trail down to the bath house to use our hot showers and bathrooms, or walk down the more gradual 3-4 minute walk on the road. Please be cautious - there is a steep cliffside canyon near this camp. Note: This camp is a up a short, steep gravel road, some vehicles (trailers, large RV's) may have trouble getting up this hill. Feel free to reach out to us if you have questions about this road!

(11) Tioga Camp

Camp at the top of our hill overlooking the Tuolumne Canyon. Tioga Camp (#11) has a light-blue picnic table, space for a small camper van, and incredible views. Please park close to the Blue Picnic Table. Beyond your site is a private space on the property, please ask Marty if you want to visit this area. Take the 2 minute trail down to the bath house to use our hot showers and bathrooms, or walk down the more gradual 3-4 minute walk on the road. Please be cautious - there is a steep cliffside near this camp, for adventurers, a place to pitch a small tent. There is potable water near the site in a white Yeti Water Cooler. It is also near our 1/2 mile trail along the canyon ridge. Small vans/RVs only - 6 meters / 22 feet max.

Come camp at our family-run river rafting company basecamp. We have been in operation for 50 years as a rafting business and we are excited to share the Tuolumne River Canyon views with you during your stay! This is convenient for groups that want to be close to electricity and the bath house. You can walk a short ways to look into the canyon. This is a convenient site for those staying in a van or camper. Located by our bathhouse with easy access to hot showers and flushing toilets, and access to wi-fi, this site has all of the amenities you may need during your stay. This site is only for those staying in a van, camper, or car. There is no spot to pitch a tent around this site, it is van only. This site is perfect for people who prefer to be a very short distance from restrooms and showers and would like to have wi-fi available right at camp. If you are looking to plug in electricity, please let us know so we can make sure we can accommodate you.  We are located 15 minutes' driving distance from the entrance to Yosemite National Park (note that between May 20 to September 30th you will need a reservation to get into Yosemite) and 15 minutes driving to the historic town of Groveland. Our campsites offer sweeping views of 4 waterfalls, vibrant sunrises and sunsets, three different river canyons, and a classic Sierra Nevada foothills ecosystem.  We are less than 5 minutes away from Rainbow Pools, a local swimming hole, and 5 minutes away from the Lucky Buck, a tasty diner. We are more than happy to give you suggestions on places to explore around Yosemite, Stanislaus National Forest, and Groveland.

So close to the national park with great views. Restrooms and showers were super clean and accessible. Great place for star gazing and sleeping to the sounds of waterfall. Would definitely recommend and come back for future trips.

This was such an amazing stay! Liza and Tom were very responsive to our messages, and when we needed some help with our fire pit, Marty came and helped us out and was a hoot to chat with. The camp is only 30 minutes from the entrance to Yosemite Valley, 6 minutes away from a gorgeous river and swimming hole, and 20 minutes from Groveland, which was perfect for a little night out when we weren’t wanting to fire up the camp stove. The bathrooms are some of the best I’ve ever seen in my 25 years of camping, and the campground was very well kept. We would definitely come back here again, even if we weren’t planning on making a trip into the park. Thank you Liza, Tom, and the whole team at Sierra Mac River Trips!

Fantastic spot to camp. About an hour out of Yosemite Village with every bit a stunning view drive. Fantastic views over the valley with clean, modern shower/ toilet facilities. Highly recommend staying here.

Car camped here two nights and would come back! It's a relatively short drive from the entrance of Yosemite. Bathroom/shower is very clean, and the owners are excellent, kind people. Good sunset spots on their trail, too!

I loved tent camping at this place. The location was great. Stayed here for my Yosemite trip. It’s under two hour drive to get to Yosemite which isn’t terrible, considering every campsite near Yosemite was either closed or booked. I met Tom on the last day I was there and he was a really great guy even invited me River rafting last minute. Unfortunately, I had to come back home, but will need to book that for my next trip. Lastly, the amenities were nice especially if you bring a 3 year old with you like we did. Highly recommend. Will be coming back.

We absolutely loved this spot! Gorgeous views of the mountains and we were surprised to find it also overlooked a significant sized waterfall. We had site 8 which was spacious, had a great view, and the tent platform was a bit tucked back so we had some privacy. The location was super convenient to Yosemite but still close to some restaurants, and the bathrooms were super clean. Highly recommend staying here!

This campsite was awesome! Beautiful views, quiet, clean, and close to Yosemite. We stayed here for 5 days and had a fantastic time. The bathrooms and showers were clean and we felt right at home here. Staff is very friendly and Liza and Tom were quick to communicate.

We loved our experience at Yosemite Colfax Spring. Liza and Tom are considerate hosts and offer any amenities you might need for a stay on their land. It was peaceful and quiet and offered unmatched views, plus so close to Yosemite!! Also loved how close we were to a town so that we could stop and grab some food on the way in. Lovely experience.

We had a great stay at Tom’s campsite! The views were beautiful, and it was great falling asleep to the sounds of the nearby waterfall. The bathrooms and showers were clean with reliably hot water. It was also an easy drive to Yosemite—perfect for getting into the park before 6 AM and avoiding the Memorial Day weekend crowds. Highly recommend!

I loved camping on Liza and Tom's land. The Merced campsite was clean and spacious, with excellent views. Marty runs the place with them, and was very welcoming and helpful. The location is just a few minutes from the western entry to Yosemite. The campsites are well laid-out, and toilet/bath facilities are excellent and well-maintained. I wholeheartedly recommend Colfax Spring as a camping home base to explore this great park.

We loved everything about this stay. We were two and two dogs in a 21’ camper van and stayed in #4 with a view of the waterfall. Having walked around the camp we would have been happy in any of the sites. The host greeted us upon bathrooms and was welcoming. The showers are spacious and spectacular. It’s close to the park but far enough out to get a more private camping experience. This is at the top of our list and we hope to return.
