Make Woolman at Sierra Friends Center your basecamp for your Nevada County adventure! There are so many things to do and places to explore, all within 30 minutes of our campus. Take a dip in the South Yuba River, visit Empire Mine State Historic Park, or stroll along historic downtown Nevada City. Our simple, wood-heated A-frame cabins are on the edge of central campus, footsteps away from trails that snake through our 240 acres of woods and meadows. Similar to cabins you might find in Yosemite or California State Parks, our cabins are rustic and cozy. Since its foundation, our organization has operated in several capacities and programmatic areas, but always with the mission to steward diverse learning communities and educational programs that weave together spirituality, peace, sustainability and social action. Support our mission by visiting Woolman today! **PLEASE NOTE! Our campus suffered loss of cabins and a bath house during the 2020 Jones Fire. Some photos of those structures are on here though we are unable to remove them from the listing. Additionally, each A-frame is unique - to find the best fit for you, please click on each individual A-frame listing!

Site 6 (Manzanita)
I stayed in a cute and cozy A-frame cabin with convenient parking and shower/bathroom access. It was peaceful with my friend and I, frequent deer and turkey sightings. I very much enjoyed the stay, highly recommended for a simple and easy getaway.

Dog friendly glamping!
Staying a week in A-frame campsite 5 was a dream. I brought my large dog for her birthday and everything was a breeze. She enjoyed the yard space and peaceful surroundings. There were very few other campers, so we had ultimate privacy. 2 days, there seemed to be some kids group, but they were very cute to witness scuttle along to and fro for their planned activities. This is both a great base camp (close proximity to towns, trails, river/lakes) and lounge space for more restful days. Nice luxuries were clean bathrooms (w/ hot showers) and electricity in the cabins. Spacious a-frame w/ outdoor table/seating and lawn space. Even hung a hammock for naps.

Two Sisters — We Loved It Here
My sister & I loved every part of the arrival, stay, local hikes, and departure. The vibes here are so Feel-good! Clean. There are power outlets and a mini space heater, fan, and air purifier. Wood was provided though there was a burn ban due to wildfire risk so we haven’t tried that. WiFi wasn’t great but it did exist, especially if you walk up to near the bathrooms.

A-plus A-frame
The A-frame cabins are cozy and convenient. They are spaced far enough away from each other to provide sufficient privacy. Bathrooms were clean, with hot water. The grounds are lovely and easy to reach from Nevada City. All in all, a great experience.

We loved the A-frame cabins at Woolman! The check-in was super-easy, the trails were really well marked, and the bathrooms were clean. There were strings of lights hanging from cabin to cabin, which made it easy to get to the bathroom in the dark. I can't wait to go again!

Site 8 (Lupine)
Woolman is a hidden gem. The environment is welcoming and the cabin experience gave us a space to disconnect and find some center in peaceful surroundings. The cabin was supplied with a fan, space heater, mosquito door net, trash can, mattress pads (yes, bring your own bedding), and electrical outlets. The small patio is perfect for some outdoor reading, enjoying some coffee/tea, dinner al fresco, and simply looking up at the trees and sun in the morning. Bathrooms are shared and equipped with the essentials (bring your own toiletries too). There's several great trails to explore, and even saw some wild turkeys, deer, squirrels, birds, et al. If you're looking to go into town, Nevada City is a short drive away. Places like Independence Trail, Yuba River, Hoyt's crossing, and more are as well. Shannon and team were super responsive and checking in/out was easy. We loved every minute and will come back and visit again, 100%.
