Love this place. Plenty of privacy even when the other sites are full. Our site got the most afternoon sun and was adjacent to a gently bubbling steam. Near some nice hiking and secluded beaches and just a few minutes from town. John and Wendy were wonderful hosts and we really enjoyed the delicious soup and fresh baked bread we ordered for our first night.

Wendy, John and their pup Louie were wonderful & welcoming . Wendy had a hearty soup ready on our arrival that we enjoyed at our campsite at the edge of the forest . The camping area is a large grassy area perfect for our pup to freely run around . Great beach access .

Beautiful! Would definitely recommend and stay again. We got the soup dinner option the first night and the chicken dumpling soup was amazing. This was such a sweet place.

We had a wonderful experience! We went to the beach for sunset and watched the seals. The tent was spacious, the soup was delicious, the firewood bundle was plentiful, the bathrooms were clean, and the coffee and fresh baguettes were an incredible welcome in the morning. Wendy and John were kind, welcoming, and hospitable. Thank you both.

we really enjoyed wendy and john's! the hot showers, bath house and unlimited firewood were a big bonus! kids enjoyed the playground and cherry tree. wendy made us dinner the first night... so yummy, highly recommend! oh, and we got a site with a queen bed and tent... so comfy falling asleep with sound of ocean. will return with friends! great for a group

Wendy and John's farm is beautiful. Great amenities and many thoughtful touches. From the complementary firewood to the convenience of a washroom nearby and their charming adorable cattle dog. 10/10 would recommend any of these campspots in Ferndale

Wendy and John are the best hosts and we will absolutely be back! Tucked away behind a beautiful old farmhouse is the most peaceful clearing for camping. Because we opted into the amazing menu options, Wendy had soup, bread and cobbler warm and ready upon arrival. Absolutely recommend because NOTHING is better than homemade food after a long camping journey and everything was DELICIOUS. The campsites are spaced out enough that we felt we were alone, and the firewood was dry and plentiful. An amazing Hipcamp find!

We had one campsite, and one interior room rental. Our time was fantastic, with many good conversations with Wendy and John. John also taught one of our group how to make his excellent bread. Having flush toilets and hot showers makes several days camping very pleasant.

Hazelwood: quiet, safe, near ocean
Great camp spot! The camp sites are situated along the outskirts of a beautiful meadow. The property is just as described. John and Wendy were friendly and attentive hosts and we had a wonderful time. Would definitely recommend.

We really enjoyed the unusual setting for Wendy & John's farm. They are out in the delta where the Eel River meets the Pacific--close enough to the coast to hear the surf. Their five sites are widely separated in a 3-acre meadow, providing plenty of privacy even for those of us who really don't want neighbors. We enjoyed the Quiet Private Forest Edge at the southern edge of the meadow. The adjacent hillside was covered in wildflowers including beautiful Purple Foxglove (digitalis). We also enjoyed walking the country road with views of the ocean a mile away, barns, wildflowers and their neighbor's most-interesting cows. Because of my wife's asthma, try to avoid being near campers who do. However, the ocean breeze and well-spaced campsites made campfire smoke a non-issue. In fact, Wendy & John made it so easy to have a campfire (wood, fire starter, lighter, fire pit with a screen) that even we made a fire!

Wendy & John were such hospitable hosts and the actual site was gorgeous and quiet. Showers were hot, other guests were respectful, and John baked lovely warm bread for us on the first night. We loved camping here, and one hundred percent recommend that others try it out too. Ferndale itself was a quaint little town, and a wonderful exploration, with lots to do and see. It was a fabulous time staying here, all in all!

This was the best find ever! A real gem. Stayed at Wuss Camp 6/4/25-6/6/25. Stayed at Base Camp. It was great having a tent already setup and not having to setup our own. It was great that my dog was able to run around unleashed for once and play with the other campers dog that was there. he really enjoyed being off leash. It was way better then staying in a hotel/motel in Eureka. It was quite, peaceful, very secure and safe. There are woods to roam if you have the time. Super close to the beach. Wendy and John make the best food. The homemade chili soup was great the first night and the baguettes are yummy! I would definitely stay there again, highly recommend.

This was our 4th year at Wendy and John’s farm and I promise it never looses its magic! It’s the most beautiful, peaceful place!
John, Wendy and their dog Louie are the best hosts you could ask for!
The location is so close to the beach that you fall asleep and wake up to the sound of waves crashing. The birds will also serenade you in the morning and it’s nothing less than a fairytale land.
There is a hot shower and flushing toilets which make it that much more comfortable at the end of a long day exploring.
10/10 recommend! Kid and dog friendly.

Wendy and John, are wonderful hosts. The soup, baguettes 🥖 and cobbler with heavy cream on arrival was scrumptious. We had originally planned on a 3 night stay but we had so much we wanted to squeeze in for our vacation. We plan on returning in August. Our pups loved the open field, the beach is only a mile away and leash free!

My sister found this property and I am glad she did. We loved it! Very private location, but we still felt very safe and comfortable. There was only one other campsite being used while we were there and thus very quiet. The Cuban black bean soup was delicious as well as the fresh baked baguette in the morning. We had the Base Camp tent which was perfect for us. Would definitely camp there again.

Beautiful Creekside
A lovely place to camp. Lots of birds. No airplanes. No traffic. Very quiet, can hear the waves crash in the distance. Country road into town, we rode it and felt safe. We will definitely be back. Creekside was great for our toddler to explore and swing. Dog was happy too!

They have a lovely spot just a mile from the ocean. We enjoyed the big fire pit and fire wood. Absolutely try her incredible cobbler!!

Wendy’s farm was a great place to spend the night. Wendy stayed up late to greet us and give directions to our spot. The night was peaceful and quiet. The ocean roaring in the morning was very special. Thank you for having us stay on your land!

As advertised, bathroom, shower and the camping sites are spread out. We never heard anyone or a thing. It is extremely quiet there! John and Wendy are great hosts and tended to whatever needs we had. Thank you John and Wendy?

Quiet Private Forest Edge
Private, very quiet unless you are the noisy one. Long haul to get to the site but that's why its private. The continuous water hot water heater needs some adjustment before someone is injured. Wendy and John are nice folks.

Another awesome stay at Wendy and John’s! Very clean, private and tranquil. Loved seeing deer jump the fence across the driveway as we were leaving this morning. The site was perfect and far enough from other sites that we felt like we were by ourselves, which is exactly what we wanted. Wendy and John are amazing hosts. Maybe next time we’ll stay more than one night so that we can actually try the shower. It looks pretty nice and is set up very well. It’s great to have more than one toilet available in the event one is in use and you really have to go. 😌 next time I will have to add on some extras to our booking. It’s great that there’s a table and chairs set up at each site along with a fire pit. Couldn’t ask for a better stay.

This is our 5th year coming to John and Wendy’s camp and as always it did not disappoint. The property is magical, they are such gracious hosts, and the bread, soup, and cobbler are delicious. Can’t wait to go back.
