The check in hosts were great! We got lost on our way there and they talked us in. Very cool
Property with guava trees which we enjoyed! They are building more amenities and the kids had a blast. Was so nice to be able to bring our dogs and let them roam.

We booked this trip on a last minute whim and the host was very responsive through text. Upon arrival Daniel greeted us and showed us to our campsite. He made sure we had everything we needed and the site was to our liking. He even came back once night fell and made sure we were set. He made sure to tell us about all of the other amenities they have available if needed. (Lamps, propane tanks, fresh sheets, etc.) 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking to camp. We can’t wait to come back! (Give Daniel a raise he’s the best 😂)

We had a wonderful stay at Thundering Hawk Retreat. Lance and Daniel were the best of hosts and made us feel welcome and taken care of. Our group was larger so we stayed in the Copaiba and Unity campsites. Both sites met our camping needs. Our one complaint is that we didn’t stay two nights! Thank you Lance and Daniel! We’ll be back for sure.

We had a very nice weekend getaway with our family and dog. There were amazing sunset views and plenty of open space for our little one and dog. Lance and Daniel were very responsive and hospitable.

We booked the Breakthrough campsite for my birthday. The flowers already bloomed. The view is beautiful. Lance was very accommodating and helpful. There is a Mr. Heater already in the yurt. We turned it on for a few minutes to toast the inside of the yurt. We slept nice and warm for the rest of the eve. We brought our sleeping bags and blankets. We paid for the propane which is a great option if you don’t feel like lugging it with you in your car. The table and chairs were great. You don’t need to bring your own. The gas fire kept us toasty. The port-a-potty was very close. I highly recommend the experience!

Copaiba site at Thundering Hawk was the perfect private site for bringing pups and enjoying the peace and quiet without a long drive from San Diego!
Lance was super, as was the camp manager!

This is a really great camping ⛺️. The environment is beautiful, the management is orderly, and most importantly, the staff are very enthusiastic! There are many details that impressed us, such as the bicycles next to the tents, the lights dotted on the tents, etc. We and the kids loved this place and will plan to go back next time.

We had a great time and it was perfect for those (like us) that are novice campers. The kids loved exploring the campsite and it was so great to have a grill, fire pit, table/chairs, and heater. Would certainly come back!

Had a great experience! We stayed at Faith and it was naturally shaded and protected from the elements. It rained overnight and we could hear it but we didn’t experience it since it was cozy, warm, and dry inside the tents. Hosts were so responsive and helpful! Would definitely visit again. Highly recommend!

We ended up staying at the "Breakthrough" campsite (not Victory) so this review is for that site. It's beautiful. We were at the top of a hill, so we got to see beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The sound of the frogs lulled us to sleep, as did the calls of the coyotes. There were dogs barking in the distance. That didn't bother me at all. In fact, three big white dogs came by to check on us each day and to say hi to our dogs. The tent and beds were clean and comfortable. The propane fire pit and heater worked great, and the grill was great as well. Jonathan checked us in, and he was a very friendly and helpful guy. There was also another campsite at the top of the hill that seemed very nice and the other campers were respectful and friendly. I definitely recommend this place and will be coming back sometime. I recommend paying the extra money for the coal and propane. It made things easier.

Staying here was the most beautiful experience. I celebrated my birthday with some friends and we’re still on a high from being here. I knew this place was beautiful, but I wasn't expecting there to be so much aesthetic! The host was friendly, the tent was nice and warm, and the grounds were clean. 10/10 would recommend. If you do not care for dogs this isn’t the place for you. There’s a few free roaming dogs on the property that are really friendly!

We loved Thunderhawk Retreat. The campsite was really thoughtfully done. The yurt was super clean, beds were comfy, we loved that there was a grill, large table, and hammock on one side and a fire pit and small table on the other. We were also so happy that the camp was incredibly dog friendly. We have two big dogs and it's not easy to find places that are welcoming to dogs especially that are (way) over 25 pounds. We were also lucky enough to meet one of the very sweet ranch dogs. Darryl was also exceptionally helpful; helping with propane and getting us aquatinted with the lay of the land.
I do have to say that we choose Thundering Hawk thinking that it would be a great escape from NYE fireworks (our dogs are terrified of them) and there were a lot of fireworks. A lot. It was really unexpected because the area is so far from anything. HOWEVER, this was NOT the fault of Thundering Hawk and I would absolutely return - just not for NYE or Fourth of July.

Our stay at Breakthrough at Thundering Hawk Glamping site was wonderful! The host, Darrel, was very responsive, ensuring we had everything we needed. The tent was clean and well-maintained, and it was stocked with essentials like 5 gallons of water, bed sheets, a heater, a charcoal grill, and a fire pit. The attention to detail made our experience comfortable and enjoyable. We’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant outdoor getaway!

Lance was a wonderful host! Benji, the official welcome pup was a sweetheart and a total badass watchdog that keeps everyone safe from the coyotes. Our pups loved roaming off leash, too.
Not really a glamping experience with the port a potty shared with other campers at a bit of a distance from our campsite, however, it was nice to arrive to a tent and beds with fresh linens. It was very chilly, but the propane heater did help keep us warm enough at night. My recommendations would be to update/repair the tents (our tent zipper was broken) and clean the debris/foliage off on the outside. Put a closer restroom to the Copaiba campsite. Clean off the picnic table and hammock…so dirty that both weren’t really useable to enjoy.
The view and surroundings were nice and the sunset was gorgeous:)

We had a really enjoyable time at Thundering Hawk Retreat! Our multi-generational family had a great time making s’mores, telling stories around the campfire, and spending time outdoors. The sites were peaceful and offered a nice balance of nature and comfort. The 20-foot bell tent was spacious, and the beds were comfortable, with soft linens and pillows. Our Labrador especially loved being off-leash and had a blast playing in the creek.
A special thanks to the hosts for providing all the essentials, though do note you’ll need to bring your own blankets for the beds (sheets and pillows are provided). We’d recommend it for anyone looking to enjoy some time in nature with a bit of comfort.

I loved every single thing about this place. Off-road to get the site. WE WILL BE BACK!! It was a beautiful sight overlooking everything. We came just in time for the sunset as we watched while cooking food. Darrell is such an amazing host and super accommodating. He took us up to our site, gave us two jugs of water and was timely with all responses. He even offered us to use a shower. The true star of the show was Benji the ranch dog. He is the best boy ever and my dog loved him. He was on alert and very protective. He also has a lot of patience as our other dog is not accustomed to unfamiliar dogs. The tent was so spacey and we added the extra propane tank which we used for our fire and provided heater. The sight 10/10, site 10/10, tent 10/10, Benji 10/10 and hospitality 10/10.

First,Lance was so gracious and helpful with all our needs. The tent was clean and the beds were comfortable.FYI, Bring your lantern for the dining table area. The solar panel lights were not enough to light the whole area. And lastly, Benjie the friendly dog who was there to watch us against these howling cayotes. And he loves to eat almost anything. We loved tent camping and the place has all the setup with amazing stargazing views. Lance is a great host, he helped us a lot throughout the entire trip and was very accommodating and helpful. Definitely worth it.

Me and my friends had the best stay here and thought this was the best site. We had a beautiful view on top of the hill and dinner outside at sunset was dreamy. Lance was very friendly and communicative and went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. Super easy way of camping and I would highly recommend this experience even just for one night.
