The Ridgetop Camp
Will is spectacularly friendly and greeted us with warmth. To access the property you have to cross a small, although a little steep, dirt road. We managed to do it in a Prius with some care.
It is a small farm with lots of animals, so there's a smell if that's something you're worried about. We saw some chickens, ducks, goats, a pony, and some beautiful alpacas. There is a leveled wooden platform where you can set camp pretty easily.
If you're looking for a private secluded space surrounded by wilderness this might not be it. If you're interested in how they run the farm, meeting lots of farm animals, or learning how to make a community space this might be for you.

Kevin (Will's dad) was a wonderful host, full of incredible stories. He was a font of information when asked, but stayed out of your way unless you went to talk to him. The campsites are near the chicken, ducks, alpacas, and sheep. They could be quite vocal during the day, but quieted down at night. The night sky was in full display, and was well worth the visit. Great visit, thanks Kevin!

Nice menagerie of domesticated beasts are near the campsite, in you are an animal lover. Hosts were kind enough to add our little dog to the mix and babysit him for 6 hrs before we returned to set up camp. Nice level elevated "stage" for your tent and fresh straw/hay on the ground, plus trees suitable for a hammock. Spacious and well ventilated outhouse. Friendly hosts gave us directions and advice about local points of interest. We even bought organic eggs from hosts before we left.

Wonderful environment! Everyone I met was kind and welcoming, Kevin made it feel like home! Beautiful views in a peaceful easy-going atmosphere, who could ask for more? Will have to visit again :) Thank you and much love to you all!

Big thanks to the Porters for a great experience! The GPS coordinates provided were accurate, but it's still best to follow the directions provided by Bill as cellular reception is (expectedly) spotty in the area. Will was away, so his dad Kevin greeted us and showed us around the site. He was super friendly! Thank goodness he was there, because we had to keep bothering him to help us with the hose (for water) and the grill for cooking (our stove didn't work). So THANK YOU again!

Will’s place was perfect for my first time camping. My dog loved running around the front yard and meeting the farm animals. We couldn’t enjoy the property as much due to rain but would love to come back (:

We had such a relaxing time! Kevin is hilarious and we loved his stories from being a captain. Best part of our stay was their mini horse Cricket - she stole my heart! Also their hens and ducks lay amazingly delicious eggs.
We were surprised how many people lived up the dirt roads and how many trucks drown up and down during our stay, but wasn’t bothering us. The views from the camp site were great, we were able to see snowy peaks of “near by” mountains, which was magical. And let’s not forget the sheep, super talkative group of rescue sheep, they made my day with their funny noises.

The view here is amazing! I'm so glad I arrived right in time to watch the sun go down over the mountains. Kevin greeted me and was super helpful and friendly, and I loved saying hi to the chickens, turkeys, alpacas, and playing fetch with their dog Collie! The designated camp spots had enough room for my truck and tent and there's even a platform and carpet already set up so you don't really need a footprint. There's an outhouse, firepit, and trash bins, everything you need. The directions were accurate and my map app on my phone actually brought me right to it as well. You drive up a steep mountain and get away from all the more touristy areas down in the Avenue of Giants, I'm glad I reserved here instead of a regular campground.

The Ridgetop Camp
Will and his dad Kevin greeted us and were very friendly and helpful. We set up camp on the wooden platform which was perfect. The 4 mile drive up to the campsite is a gravel road. It can a little intense if you don't have four wheel drive but if you go slow it's not too bad. The site is on the top of a mountain so we had a nice breeze, gorgeous sunset and sunrise. The only issue is there is no bathroom so you need to find your own spot or you can use the one in the main house. There is a nice road to hike on and friendly neighbors. It was our first hipcamp experience and we liked it very much!

The RV camp is located just down the hill from the main camp area but during my stay, the host temporarily relocated the RV camp to the main area while they improve the site. This is good in that you’ll be close to the port-a-loo but still have access to the trails and land to explore. The farm its self is bustling with lots of friendly animals, has incredible sunset views and a dark open night sky to star gaze! During the day, you’ll have sweeping panoramic views of the mountains and all its greenery. I would recommend spending more than just a night here as it’s a bit far up the mountain and would be a good weekend getaway for some peace and quiet.

The Ridgetop Camp
I had a great stay at RSR! The ranch is located at the top of a small mountain and by a wonderful small mountain community. On the way up the hill, I passed by the local weekly market just outside the RSR where they local produce and art. Will and his dad were great hosts during my stay and made sure I was comfortable. There was an upcoming wedding being prepared for during my stay so I wasn’t able to see the the camping area how it usually is but the the space was creatively decorated and even had some wooden pallets for me to set up my tent on. The ranch as a handful of friendly animals that are not at all bothersome including lamas, pigs, a horse, chickens, turkeys and more. The property extends quite a bit but isn’t recommended to explore as there are some predators the further you go down the mountain. There are, however, smaller trails to wander. If you’re looking for a short day trip, the famous Chandelier Drive Thru tree is only 20 minutes away! I would highly recommend stopping by RSR for your getaway!
