The Ranch at Cross Road
We arrived at the Ranch later in the afternoon, and navigating the large fifth-wheel trailer onto the property proved a bit challenging. The turn into the entrance is somewhat tight, and entering the gate code would have temporarily blocked the street—something to keep in mind for future guests.
The property itself is stunning—peaceful, scenic, and beautifully maintained. Unfortunately, due to our late arrival and early departure the next morning, we didn’t have the opportunity to explore the common areas.
It was a real treat to let the dogs roam freely after a long day on the road. They thoroughly enjoyed the open space, though it’s worth noting that there are some foxtails and burrs around, which can easily get caught in their coats—something to be mindful of.
The sunset was absolutely breathtaking. There was a gathering at a neighboring facility that evening, and while we could hear their music softly in the distance, it added a pleasant, festive undertone to the quiet night. Later, the sound of coyotes calling under the stars brought a touch of wild charm, followed by roosters crowing at dawn—a true country experience.
Though our stay was brief and we didn’t have the chance to meet Matt, we thoroughly appreciated the serene atmosphere and would gladly return for a longer visit in the future.

I absolutely loved tent camping here! The place is stunning and super well-maintained. I got there an hour before sunset, and it was breathtaking! The golden sun rays streaming from behind the hill were amazing. I set up my tent and just chilled, soaking in the clear sky. Woke up to the sounds of birds chirping and the sunrise peeking over the other hill!

Spacious camping pitches with picnic tables. Shower house was well equipped and loved having a shower with an open sky above. Matt and Sarah were so friendly and helpful. Directions to the ranch were spot on. Would definitely recommend and come back again.

This was an awesome camping experience. Being able to shower was a luxury. My pup was so happy chasing her ball in a big, open field. It was pretty quiet for us minus a few coyotes in the distance.

I stayed here for 4 nights. It was far enough from San Francisco to not be overly crowded but close enough for day trips. The shower and bathroom facilities were great. Matt replied very quickly to any questions that I had. I'd definitely stay again.

This site is in a perfect location. It's surrounded by dozens of wineries, lots of natural beauty. But it's also only about a 10 minute drive to get to downtown Livermore where there are tons of great restaurants to pick from. If you're into shopping, there are quaint shops downtown as well.
The campground itself is organized well. This was actually my very first Hipcamp experience and I never felt lost or confused. There were signs on the property indicating where to set up. The bathroom/shower area felt like rustic elegance. The shower has privacy, but with an open roof which was a great experience.
Matt provided very helpful guidance to prepare, including suggestions about what to bring weather-wise and things to do in the area. Actually, his communications were excellent and well timed i.e. I knew the gate code far enough in advance to not be wondering how I'd get in. Felt completely secure and safe.
If you are tent camping, I suggest bringing a tool to pound stakes with as ground was dry. Also recommend a base tarp due to dry vegetation. I slept in a 2-person tent and was completely comfortable, slept like a rock.
Highly recommend Matt's land and hospitality.

If you don’t need anything fancy, this works great. No hook-ups, but lots of space for each spot and hardly anyone there when we were there. Showers are too hot and not adjustable but we just used our camper. Outhouse has a nice sink set up for hand washing. Wouldn’t recommend for dogs if they’re fluffy. Our doodle was covered in burrs and fox tails.

Great communication with the host, ample space, location well situated for visiting wineries, cycling or strolling thru Livermore with its restaurants, shops and farmers markets. Bathroom and shower area were very clean. Quiet and peaceful surroundings with nice views of the distant hills.

I really liked the tent camping and the sites were far apart. The area was suitable for Astrophotography although there was a bit of light glow from the town of Livermore. The facilities were operable and clean. Nice to wake up with the sounds from the farm animals. Thank you very much for hosting!

My teenage boys and 10 year old had a great stay. We especially enjoyed the farm animals, the corn hole and extra mini golf! I appreciated the beautiful bathroom and outdoor shower. The only thing I would recommend is adding hooks to the bathroom so you can hang towels and toiletries. It would be nice if there was a second toilet (not the portopotty) since we had to wait in line a few times. The surrounding area is more beautiful than I expected and the birds are amazing! I would recommend 👍🏼

This is a cute site.
Be prepared for the wide open space and the wind.
The grounds are taken care of but not great for dogs to run around. Filled with cheat grass.
Lastly, I think we stayed early in season and the blighted group area was a little tired.
Great area to explore the local wineries.

As advertised. Enjoyed my night- they had everything need to grill. Outdoor Shower was nice- the bathroom sink was at a drip at best. However, lots of other places to wash hands as needed.

It worked ok for our need for one night, but very bare - there was no bathroom or sink, just a port a potty. You're in a field with a picnic bench and a faucet around a foot high. It works if you need to be in the area, but not a destination location by any means. Also a bit pricy for what you're getting, although I suppose it is in the Bay Area so everything is going to be expensive.

Quiet and close to family, so served our purposes The field where the campsites are located was a bit bumpy and tough on my front wheel drive camper van.
Recommend arriving in daylight for better visibility. Also, no trees so it got quite warm early in the day.
