While on a family backpacking excursion through Sequoia King’s Canyon National Park, and the surrounding area, we came across this charming campground. A long-forgotten chapel in the mountains that was formerly a summer camp. From here, a short 15-minute drive will take you directly to the main entrance of Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park for access to the Giant Sequoias at Grant Grove and the Grant Grove Village. For those who prefer to travel off the beaten path, a short 30-minute hike will take you to the National Forest. We are excited to invite you to camp at this hidden gem, while we undertake to restore the campground to its original splendor. Easy drive to available parking, with easy access and pull through drive for any vehicle, even with trailers. For campers bringing their own tents, we provide beautiful and well- shaded sites with level ground, soft grass, tucked underneath the many old-growth trees.

The Yurt faces a most spectacular view of the Sierra Mountains. At sunset, you can watch the mountains turn all shades of pink, golden, and purple. Then, after the sun goes down, sit around the private campfire and wonder at the stars in the clear night sky. You don't have to worry about smoke in your eyes as the campfire includes a chimney to lift the smoke away. Feel free to chat, listen to some music, or just sit quietly in awe of the majestic forest mountains that stretch out as far as you can see. The Yurt is furnished with a full bed, sheets, pillows, comforter. Also, a comfortable chair and table. Interior lights are solar powered, and controlled by switch. Outdoor lights are available, just ask if you need exterior lights turned on or off. Electrical power can be provided upon request, no problem. Potable well water is close at hand. The restrooms are a short, well-lit walk from the Yurt. Tile showers, flush toilets, and laundry machines are available for your use. A fun, easy, stress-free, and very comfortable camping experience. Host is on-site and available for any needs. Need hiking trail recommendations? Want to know some kid-friendly spots? Where to take the dogs? Did you for get your toothbrush or comb? Just ask! We love these mountains and we very much want you to fall in love with them, too!

This is a very basic, very rustic cabin. Cabin is furnished with a full bed, sheets, pillows, comforter. Also, chairs, table, desk, and nightstand. Cabin has electrical power, interior and exterior lights, desk lamp and outlets. Cabin has a heater for use during the colder months, and a fan during the summer and many screened windows that open and close. The restrooms are a short, well-lit walk from the cabin. Tile showers, flush toilets, and laundry machines are available for your use. The cabin is very basic, very simple. This is not glamping, by any means, but there are fresh linens and a comfortable bed. Especially enjoyable when the weather might otherwise be a cause of stress. Raining? Even better! Relax for the evening, listen to the rain fall on the metal roof, watch out the window as the the clouds roll across the mountains, and be at peace. There is a communal fire pit open for use anytime (except when restricted by the county/state). Firewood is available The rest of the property is forested, and has trails which campers are welcome to explore. Disappointed with the communal bathrooms and shower. The sink was clogged and out of the four bathrooms, only two were functional. Not worth driving up the hill one hour away from the Sequioa National Park.

Jack has a simple but efficient setup on beautiful land. The chapel is idyllic and it’s reasonably close to the king’s canyon entrance (~40 minutes). My daughter and I loved it and would stay again!

Close to the park but the road is windy and tough to drive at night. Facilities were gross. Most or maybe all the bathroom doors couldn’t close properly. Site itself was nice with the picnic table and canopy; nice plus. Sites weren’t on top of each other. If the facilities were just cleaned up and the doors closed properly, this would be a great site.

Jack was super helpful the whole time! He even offered to boil our pot of water after our stove ran out of butane. Cool piece of land with a beautiful view. Each campsite has an overhead tarp and level ground for a tent. Very close to the Sequoia National Park (25 min to the entrance)making it a great choice for last minute trips to the park. Would definitely camp here again.

Jack was super helpful while we were here! Very beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Also only 20 minutes from the Sequoia National Forest. Great wifi and clean bathrooms and showers. We would definitely come back here again.

Jack has a convenient if not rustic set up. The showers and toilets are a plus. When he finishes renovating the mountain chapel it will be pretty stellar. My daughter and I had a great time and jack was helpful at every turn. Highly recommended for the hospitality alone:)

A work in progress
Yurt (Furnished)
There was a mix-up with the bookings so the yurt was full when we arrived. We got moved into the cabin, which was functional but definitely rustic. Overall, the whole space is definitely still a work in progress. I wish Jack all the best with transforming it, it has a lot of potential. For now, it was affordable, and close to the SeKi national parks, (though the drive off the 180 highway to reach it is very very winding), and has all the basic facilities. An ok place to crash for the night but I wouldn't stay longer than that.

Mixed feelings- absolutely beautiful views. While it was great to have WiFi and the availability for showering and bathrooms everything was heavily under construction and it didn’t feel like it was quite worth the cost for a night. However, I think once the construction is done it will be an absolutely perfect spot for campers in the future.

I’d return to this campsite! Views were so lovely, bathroom & shower feature was awesome, and the host was extremely responsive and helpful. My only complaint would be that our campsite was visited by many wasps in the mornings so we had to eat breakfast and such in the car. But there’s only so much you can do about bugs when in the great outdoors 🤷🏻‍♀️ we didn’t voice our problem and just made due. Otherwise would’ve been a 5/5 experience!

Jack was very sweet, let us upgrade to the Yurt when we had a mishap with our camping equipment. Nice place, excited to see it once fully renovated. Some bugs in the morning while cooking, would recommend bug spray.

It’s about 45 minutes to 1 hour from both Sequoia and from Kings Canyon and very remote. About 23 miles from Woodlake (the closest town with a gas station) If that works for you then you will love it. There are showers and the bed in the yurt is surprisingly comfortable especially if you like Simi firm foam and the host is very hospitable.Supplied a fan for the yurt. The views are spectacular!

Great campsite on top of a mountain with beautiful views. It is very peaceful out here and this location has good proximity to Sequoia National Park. Jack was an excellent host!

Great spot - peaceful and beautiful views even over the busy memorial day weekend. Jack was a very responsive host. Highway 245 is out so be warned that until that is fixed, it is a bit of a lengthy and windy drive to the national parks.

Outstanding views/location. As others have noted, a windy road to get there. Jack is as communicative and accommodating as can be. The place is still a little rough around the edges. But Jack is working hard for his vision.

Loved staying at this chapel on a hill! The hosts were very nice and accommodating and the views were incredible. The drive up was so beautiful as well. I definitely recommend picking here

Great spot! The place is very peaceful and has an amazing view of the opposite hills. Very basic campground, but that's only fair considering the price, especially since you have good hot showers. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for tranquility and a peaceful place.
