Camelot was founded on the Summer Solstice, in the year 2000, by a small group of like minded people as a peaceful refuge from the trappings and ills of society. The name "Camelot" was chosen because of the groups' belief in a round table approach to problem solving, and the desire to reach a unanimous group consensus in any course of action which might affect any one individual of the group. A pendragon was elected as the the lifetime group leader, or "first among equals". This position exists today, though the members of the original group have faded into history.

Not Here...Under Construction
The place was hard to find 1)no reception and 2 )number listed once already on the property. No one was “easy to find” nor greeted us until after waiting/walking around and then ringing the metal bell creating havoc with the animals. Kevin and Mark repeated they weren’t aware of our booking. NOT what it looked like online-we camped next to a bunch of construction vehicles. Hosts did nothing. We stayed for the night for lack of signal/sunlight. How does this place, said to be on 48 acres and have 16 RV/tent sites, only have 1 option for location for the ONLY party that was there during this time period?! I purposely had chosen the furthest location away from the main stage - confirming this and other questions with Host by emails prior to booking. No live performances “for 3 guests” or a projected movie “projector is broken”. 17+roosters, dozens of chickens, 12+ peacocks, 5 dogs on the property nevermind the echoing barks from the dog-filled kennel and yells from the owners across the street. You wont get sleep or be stress-free here even with earplugs. The owner informed my group that he intentionally “did not show up the day before because a lot of people book it, but never show up”. Book if you want a farm experience or one where you’re surrounded by construction vehicles, nonoperating automobiles, broken tools, and a lot of junk. Kevin is the only nice thing about the stay- making the muddy fire pit area camp-like with delightful conversation and helpful, informative information.

Great time at this campground. Mark went above and beyond to accommodate us and was very very friendly. It was nice to talk to him and he was always willing to help out when he could. We slept in our vans and didn’t have issue with chickens or dog noise. Will come back

Very nice host, so much character!
This place was perfect for what we needed it for. Shower and a restroom with the safety aspect. Only suggestion would be drive there during the day, the roads getting there were wild but we were also in a big jumpy van. Marc was very nice and warned us about his chickens and roosters being loud in the morning but we were up with them anyway. The peacocks were hiding in a tree we walked by a few times and didn’t notice until the morning. Which was pretty cool to see. I’d go back during the warmer months maybe when there’s more stuff going on. He has a stage and a fire pit and everything. Also cats roaming around, kind of acted like our body guards to and from the restrooms haha Cool Place!

Very friendly host and nice location. Loved the outdoor bathroom. Plenty of space. Only thing is that they had a lot of roosters and they started "talking" at about 5am in the morning. I got some earplugs for the second night which did help.

We loved our stay at the Hillfort. We were greated very warmly and got great tips for activities in the area. There weren't any other people camping during our stay, but the people of Hillfort made us feel very welcome and safe. All in all we had a wonderful stay here!

Peaceful setting in the Carmel Valley area. Easy access to hiking in Ventana Wilderness and Arroyo Seco. Hosts were friendly and accommodating throughout our stay! Bonus for being dog friendly for those of us with canine companions:)

Perfect pit stop!
Mark and Kevin were wonderful hosts! Very hospitable, offered way more than you could need. Perfect for quick camp spots while passing through the valley. Chickens and dogs on the other side of the street were quite loud but they didn’t bother us much at all. Would highly recommend. Thanks again!

The hosts are friendly, the spots are fairly well shaded, and the bathroom was clean! My only criticism is that the chickens absolutely will wake you up before sunrise.

From the moment we set foot on the property we were given a warm welcome and made to feel at home. Friendly camp host, camp site owner and campers. The beer that was offered was greatly appreciated after a long journey. A great evening spent around a camp fire sharing stories from different continents. Sadly we had to leave before we could say a proper thank you. Highly recommend!

Great place to camp. I came in late in the evening and was immediately greeted and offered a beer. They already had a campfire going, and we had a couple beers and talked about racing and carpentry. Very welcoming. The amount of stars you can see here is amazing. These days there is so much light pollution but not here. Lots of chickens, some roosters, and peacocks. Country life for sure!

Good people
Michael was great, they said I could stay wherever I wanted so I set my tent up under a tree, I had power, WiFi and shade. I came back the next day and they had moved a picnic table right by my tent, I was able to park my car right by my tent. I came and went as I pleased. They had restroom facilities and a shower. Michael, mark and Kevin are good guys. They even invited me to hang out with them by their campfire.

Michael was friendly and welcoming! We arrived after dark and he greeted us upon entry and showed us the entire campground and let us pick which site worked best for us. It was a little noisy at night between dogs, birds, chickens (we’re tent campers and I’m a VERY light sleeper) but I used earplugs the second night and slept just fine! Definitely would stay here again.

Close to arroyo seco river!
I can see what Michael is trying to create. He did make a fire and set up a movie for us to watch. When we arrived there were very few people so we picked a site close to the bathroom. However, I was looking for a quiet evening and around 9 pm several people arrived and continued to arrive in cars, on motorcycles. Ultimately it made for a long night waiting for all the new arrivals to set up and wind down. It seems like it would be appropriate to stop check-ins past a certain time to be respectful to guests. Otherwise, I did enjoy our time. Also, the cover photo for the site is not at all what you are arriving at and there are many many roosters who crowed even before dawn and then a ton after the sun came up.

Mark, Kevin, and Mike are such welcoming folks. They really open the space to you and have a “Mi Casa, Su Casa” vibe. We needed a place in a pinch and this was great. The place is still being built out, but the shower and bathroom were working and we look forward to seeing it again in the future as it progresses. It’s pretty informal, They LOVE dogs, and are so inviting. I really can’t express how friendly they are.

When we arrived no one was there. After searching the whole place finally a women who didnt introduce herself (maybe a neighbor) told us where normally tents would be built up. It felt strange. The Host didnt answer to any messages and we were the only Campers. In the evening we couldnt sleep because the dogs of the Host were barking. Maybe they were barking because they were left alone . At 4 am the roosters started to crow directly next to us. So short night.

Overall it was a good place to camp for the night on our way through Big Sur. There was a clean bathroom and shower available and the hosts we nice. It was rather loud throughout the night between the dogs and the chickens so I’d suggest earplugs.

Camping with cute cats (i.e. Tom!)
All of the people who lived here were super nice and friendly. They were constantly making sure that we were doing good and if we needed anything. I loved all the animals and especially the cats. My only suggestion is to tell campers NOT to camp near the bathrooms because the chicken coop is extremely loud and started making noise at 1am. We moved our tent the next night to the other side of the camp. Otherwise, it was a great stay!!!

We didn't meet with Michael, another host met us. It was difficult to find the place, but if you arrive during the day you'll have no problems. Many folks mentioned the peacocks... We were told there are 70 or 80 of them! Full disclosure, they are quite loud in the mutiny. But we were gifted a few peacocks feathers for our troubles haha. Over a great place, toilets were fine/clean, there is a sink with sponges for dishes, and everyone seemed to be really friendly there. Can recommend.

We really enjoyed staying at this site. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We felt very comfortable our whole stay and really enjoyed the live music Saturday night. The site was nice built with good showers/bathrooms, paths, fire pits, picnic tables and even a stage! We’ll definitely be staying again when we’re in the area next!
