Tepee at Mojave Campsite: (a Lakota word) is a dwelling that first originated with indigenous Indian tribes predominantly in the Great Plains. Archaeological evidence dates to an initial period 2,500 years ago. Such tribes as Kiowa Apache, Blackfoot, Cree, Cheyenne, Lakota, and Comanache utilized the tepee. Our Mojave Campsite teepee faces east, allowing a gentle sunrise to warm the interior. Properly vented for fresh air circulation, supportive poles point high to the Creator, yet firmly grounded in Mother Earth. The accommodations are complete with solar lighting, a cozy queen size bed, laundered sheets, blankets, side tables, comfortable chair, and a guitar. The fully enclosed bathroom with flushing toilet and sink are steps away. Campsite bench table with umbrella and a firepit are also, close by. Everything as described, nice isolation from the city with good enough space to enjoy. There was some miscommunication here and there due to the busy day since it was a holiday. However Tammy's attempt later on to sort things out for us was more than enough to overcome the miscommunication. She is a lovely host and me and my friends still had one of the best nights out. One thing to note is although it is definitely 2WD capable, the route it quite long and bit rough (I took my vw golf). Overall great stay, thanks again Tammy!

Tammy is a great host! Really cares about her campers & their enjoyment of her gorgeous night sky & sunsets. Lots of space for each group, didn’t feel crowded at all. I camped here during a very busy holiday weekend, so it was a full place by the time I left. Noise carries far in the desert, so be prepared for that. This is a rustic campsite. Don’t forget plenty of water & I recommend bringing a camp toilet for comfort.

I love to tent in Tammy’s land. You get clean bathroom with water. You get a picnic table and fire pit. Of course, amazing views and starry sky at night!! I’d love to come back next time. And Tammy is super nice host, she welcomed us and showed us around!! ( I just don’t like the unpaved road driving, just me)

Magical! My 3 year old son and I were gifted an amazing experience. Tammy is wonderful and my son felt safe and free spirited the entire stay. The TeePee was so amazing he didn’t want to leave it. When I was finally able to get him outside, we explored the property and he had a blast. Quite honestly, it was perfect. He enjoyed this more than any amusement park I’ve taken him to. When we started to pack up to head home to Los Angeles, all he wanted to know was when we’d be back. And we will. Thank you, Tammy. We’ll see you again soon.

I’ll always remember this experience. My sister & I drove out to Joshua Tree from North Carolina, flew our husbands in, & we traveled a lot between southern & central California. When the guys flew home, we realized that we never booked anywhere to stay for after they left. We were too tired to pitch tents & this place couldn’t have came at a better time. We were sad to see our men fly back home but the stars outside the dome along with the cracked windows letting the cool desert air in were comforting, & so was Tammy’s hospitality & understanding on our last minute booking. <3

Such a great view of the stars at night! Tammy is very nice and welcoming! The sites are pretty close to each other but didn’t have any other campers the night I went. After checking in with Tammy I had the whole area to myself and it was peaceful.

The host was very accommodating and hospitable. There was a nice breeze that made the heat bearable. The first time experience in the Teepee was memorable. The only thing that ruined it for us was what sounded like an ATV that made very close rounds on our camp — at around midnight and again at 4am. It was hard enough to get some sleep with the teepee flapping with the wind all night, partner that with waking up the kids twice in the middle of the night with the noise of that ATV making rounds. Got to the point we almost called the host or even 911. In the morning, we saw the tracks that vehicle made, and it was alarmingly close to our vehicle parked next to the Teepee. Please do something about that, if your guests feel safe and get a good night’s rest, you’ll earn better word of mouth referrals.

Tammy’s is a hidden gem—just a patch of desert land, but somehow it gives you everything you didn’t know you needed. Wide open skies, total silence, and a chance to really disconnect. We camped out under the stars, watched the sun melt into the mountains, and just took in the peaceful desert vibes. On the last morning, it actually started raining as we packed up—and weirdly, it made the experience even better. Something about the rain hitting the desert and the smell of the wet earth just added to the magic. This place has a quiet, simple charm that stays with you. We’ll definitely be back.

We loved camping at the Chemeheuvi site with beautiful views, wide open space, table and chairs with firepit and close proximity to a nice bathroom. There were fun games we enjoyed like horse shoes and golf putters with balls. Tammy was very kind and greeted us upon arrival! She was very responsive and helpful with directions leading up the weekend. Thank you Tammy! The gorgeous landscape made for a beautiful camping getaway. It was very windy and the sky was dramatic and gorgeous. The art sculptures on the drive in are incredible, definitely stop to check them out on the way in or when leaving. This was a perfect place to camp close by Joshua Tree, highly recommend!

Had a great stay in the teepee! Through sheer bad luck, I ended up being there when incredibly strong winds were blowing through and the gusts were INTENSE! Despite that, my dog and I were nice and cozy inside of the teepee. It’s in a great desert spot perfect for stargazing and provided me a nice getaway for a weekend. Hopefully will return for a longer stay when winds aren’t so bad!

Great host! Very responsive. We booked at the last minute. The only negative was there were no hot showers as described in the booking. She refunded us for the showers and firewood. I guess the other location had the showers. Overall, it was a good experience despite the winds and no showers. She is very attentive to her guests.

Tammy’s place is fantastic!!!! She is the kindest host. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, in such a beautifully remote area. We definitely would return. Thank you so much.

This is a great site to get away from it all. Very quiet, beautiful sunrise & sunset, and the stars are spectacular. Tammy is a lovely host, very welcoming and did a great job directing me to this gem in the desert.

We loved Tammy’s site so much. It was so beautiful to see all of the stars and we know we would’ve been able to see so much more if there had been no clouds. We loved the tetherball and cute decor Tammy has around the site. We hope to be back very soon!!
