Private RV campground in the Gold Country. Located in the historic townsite of Columbia known as the "Gem of the Southern Mines". There is 1 site so you'll have the campground to yourselves. There are 2 electrical panels so you can bring your family or friends if you like. If there are 2 RV's you can reserve the campground as a double site. We only accept fully self contained RV's & trailers. Campsite has 2 electric pedestals 50/30/110. Water hookups. No sewer. NO RESTROOMS AVAILABLE. Includes picnic table, camp fire ring, Weber BBQ, doggie station, horseshoe pit, corn hole, walking trails, and garbage/recycle bins. Winter camping dates subject to weather conditions. Located 0.6 mile to Columbia State Historic Park, parking and entrance is free and open year around. It is about a 15 minute walk. Close to Murphys, New Melones lake and Tuttletown recreation area, Moaning Caverns, Downtown Sonora, Mother Lode Escape Rooms, Columbia Airport, Railtown 1897 State Historic Park, Black Oak Casino, Chicken Ranch Casino, Indigeny Reserve, Inner Sanctum Cellars Basecamp with other wineries and breweries nearby. About a 50 minute drive to Big Trees State Park and Pinecrest Lake. Yosemite National Park is about 1-1/2 hour drive to the Yosemite valley floor. Check for YARTS for transportation from downtown Sonora to Yosemite valley. There are several rafting outfitters in the area. Restaurants in the immediate vicinity include Mandy's Breakfast-Lunch, Columbia Frosty, El Jardin, St. Charles Saloon Pizza, Kate's Tea House and Bakery and Columbia House Restaurant. Gas, diesel mini mart, market store nearby.

Squirrel Rock RV Campground-Double
The hosts were very informative and friendly. The camping spot was spacious and clean. They think of every detail and are so accommodating. A great spot to be close to Columbia and Sonora area. We were able to dump our trailers holding tanks at Quarry RV near Columbia before heading home. We highly recommend this site.

Squirrel Rock RV Campground-Double
Graet 2 site camping!
Great camping site close to Columbia State Park. We reserved both sites and had plenty of room for two travel trailers (22 and 26 feet) plus the tow vehicles. The site has a very nice picnic table with umbrella, fire pit, Briquette BBQ, and beautiful lighting throughout. Plenty of games are also provided: horse shoes, cornhole and card games. Both sites are very private and surrounded by trees and boulders. Close to the local Columbia airport so you will hear some aircraft noise, but it is not overly intrusive and quiet at night.

Great place to stay! Super clean, immaculately cared for, easy to get to, and a great host. Conveniently located for use as a base camp while exploring Sonora, Columbia, Angels Camp, Murphys, and more. My wife and I stayed 3 nights. We enjoyed so much that we’re eager to return for another stay.

What a Delight!
Everything you need for camping while surrounded by the land's natural elements. You could tell that Julie is an experienced camper because she has thought of everything: comfort, relaxation and fun. We stayed here, and it was hot, but sitting over by the rocks, there was a cool breeze. It was terrific to be cooled down by nature's wonders. There were games to play and places to see only 15-20 minutes away. I must mention that you are only walking distance to the best breakfast place, Mandys, and walking distance to the Columbia State Park which takes you back to the 1800s. Julie is welcoming and helpful. She provides you with a welcome package that is informative and educational. We will definitely be back.
