It was an honor to be the first Hip Camp guests at Patrick's Hideaway! Took a chance with zero reviews, but are so happy we did! The setting alongside the Middle Fork of the Smith River is gorgeous. The former owner of the property was a gardener who spent 30 years enhancing the park-like setting and now Patrick, his wife Carmen, and their son Noah are continuing the labor of love. They are wonderful hosts—going above and beyond in many ways!
The cabin sits well below the main house and above the river and is very private. It is clean, comfortable, and has just about everything you could want to aid in preparing meals including spices, oil, coffee, chocolate, sugar and flour, stainless cookware, a crock-pot, a new Nutribullet (yay, glamping smoothies!), and all the dishes/cutlery/glassware that you need.
Access to the beautiful beaches and pretty swimming holes, fire pits with wood provided, card games and dinners under the grape arbor, waking to the sound of the river and the fresh breeze coming through the open windows, fresh eggs!, Carmen's guide book, napping in the hammock, the pretty potted flowers, watching a Cicada come out of hibernation, daily visits from the farm animals, and time spent just quietly staring into the crystal clear waters of the Smith were all perfect and memorable. We also enjoyed getting to know Patrick, Carmen, and Noah (who allow you as much privacy as you want), who we hope to visit again soon … if they ever have any open reservations again!
