It was great! We brought a few pop up tents which were very necessary, it was extremely hot and my dogs were overheating a bit. Once it cooled down it was so nice- bring bug spray or cover up because the mosquitos were excessive. Bathroom didn’t have any water so bring your own to flush the toilet with. Its out there so be prepped with enough water and things to keep cool. It was really beautiful!

Valley View is a great spot for a weekend getaway! Campsite #1 was our favorite—it was spacious and secluded from the other sites, and had a fantastic view. We have a high-clearance 4x4, which helped put our mind at ease when driving up to the campsite, although we did see other vehicles going up the road slowly. We will definitely be returning!

Stayed for 1 night in a converted SUV with a bed in the back and it was stunning! It had a trash can, picnic table, and a toilet. Only downside is road to get to location is extremely bumpy/dusty so I wouldn’t recommend for low vehicles or big RVs. Would stay again though!

We loved being at the top of the mountain, and the views of the valley were incredible. Site #1 had the most amazing view. No view from Site #2 but it was a very private camp site in the woods. We saw lots of birds. We appreciated the water spigot, the trash can and picnic table to make camping a bit easier. We drove the dirt roads from both sides to access the camping and the driving is very rough, not impassible, just slow going for our Subaru.

I loved the spot. The directions are so spot on! The road is bumpy but worth it. Just take it slow and enjoy because it’s gorgeous! The spot is spacious and well maintained. We found the bathroom to be clean and easy to navigate. You can hear folks from other spots but not see them. It is absolutely beautiful. Definitely bring bug spray!

Not worth the trip. 3 miles of rough off road, mediocre view of Morgan Hill only from campsite number 1, and no maintenance on the bathroom. Not worth the 75 dollars a night.

We stayed for one night at Site #1, and definitely glad we chose it as it felt private enough for our 2 watchful dogs to be relaxed and at ease. The view was amazing and even better at night! The rented fire pit coming with the gas tank was much appreciated. Our only concern was the portable toilet station - the handwashing station wasn't functioning. Luckily we had wipes and soap so it was not too big a deal. Overall worth the bumpy ride over and we'd love to book the site again in the future!

Wow! I wanted to see the eclipse so I booked this spot in the hopes of clear skies. The full moon was beautiful as it rose above the horizon and the sun was setting. Unfortunately, as the eclipse began, the clouds began rolling in and eventually blocked my view of this celestial event. I fell asleep in my cozy vehicle only to wake the next morning to a beautiful and very unexpected blanket of SNOW! About 2” of snow covered my SUV and the campsite. I was the happiest camper! It made oatmeal and coffee inside my vehicle and then cozied up with the back window open and enjoyed my magical morning. Very quiet and peaceful!

What I liked about this place. It’s very remote and isolated. Views of the valley are great. What was not so good: the campsites are very basic. Just bulldozed dirt. And the toilet was sort of gross.

This site has spectacular views if you can see them. I drove up on the cloudy day and for the most part I was enveloped in misty fog. It’s beautiful and adventurous, but it’s hard on your equipment, specially if you’re caring bikes. If I knew how rough the road would be towards the end, the final 5 miles, I would not choose this site. Lucky for me the next morning was sunny and I was able to appreciate the hard earned Vista.

Spacious, Private, Phenomenal View
My friends and I had a great time camping here! It's spacious, private, and the views are unbeatable. There is definitely some noise from the people living in the surrounding area, but it's not intrusive at all (it's just not SILENT like camping way out there, so don't expect that). The directions were clear. Overall it was a good spot to pitch a tent and cook a meal outside with my best friends!

We stayed for one night at spot #1, which had a beautiful view at night, very clear stars, and an even better sunrise above the fog in the morning. Brought our own propane tank and was able to hook it up and use the fire pit, no problem! The table was great to cook meals on with our portable stove-top burner. Very quiet and peaceful getaway, totally worth traversing the dirt road to get there. If coming from 17, just go slow and keep an eye out for occasional other cars, but the road was pretty manageable and directions were very clear. Would 100% stay again.

Beautiful, flat spot. Plenty of space. We arrived after dark, probably wouldn’t recommend that, signs weren’t easy to spot. But it was so quiet and peaceful compared to regular camping. We’re already making a plan to come back.

Campsite #1 is gorgeous! It's the best site in our opinion because the views are amazing and it's more private than the other 3 sites. We brought our Bean teardrop and there was enough space for us to setup comfortably. There isn't much shade though so if it were earlier in the summer, we would have had a harder time staying cool. We found driving from Hwy 17 using Summit Rd with our trailer was definitely better than coming up from Hwy 152. The road to the campsite is pretty rugged so be prepared for a slow go once the paved county road ends. Overall would definitely recommend!

Amazing, quiet spot, with incredible view of the stars at night and above the clouds for sunrise in the morning. Road wasn't too bad getting up, instructions were very clear. Did not see the host, and no other campers at the others sites, so it was very relaxing and worth the stay!

8 of us and 2 dogs enjoyed campsite #3 with partial shade in the morning and late afternoon (though we needed a tarp shade over the table until about 7:30pm) and a lovely view of the fog in the valley below in the morning over Labor Day weekend. We could see the city lights at night but far enough away not to spoil star gazing. We didn’t need the propane-fueled fire pit as it was so warm up there and it served as a handy cooking table. The portaloo was better than expected, with a flush pedal and bottle of water to rinse it with. The only thing we didn’t like was the drive up a very bumpy dirt road (Summit road) past Mt. Madonna (off 153W), especially at night. Host’s directions weren’t very clear, telling us two ways NOT to come, but not which way we should come. Allow at least 30 mins for that part of the drive. The campsite itself was also quite dusty so tents needed cleaning off when we got home, but it was worth it!

Great spot with a fantastic view. Host was friendly, answered the phone when we needed to ask some questions and came over to help us out at the campsite.
The road up there is unpaved and very rough, make sure to have a capable vehicle. Gets steep at certain sections too.
Overall we really enjoyed this experience, but there needs to be some info posted about the state of the road on the hipcamp site.

My husband, our two dogs, and I really enjoyed the stay. The view of the valley was beautiful. The campsite was clean, and the host was very friendly (he greeted us when we arrived). Plus, finding the campground was straightforward. We'll definitely consider coming back.

We had a very nice stay at this campsite. Out of the 4 sites, sites 1 & 2 seemed the most private, while sites 3 & 4 are a bit closer together near the entrance to the area. Although the view is somewhat visible from site 3, it is blocked by the bushes/trees and probably better for rooftop tents. Site 1 is recommended for the amazing views this Hipcamp has to offer. The drive in was bumpy but not bad at all, and we managed to easily make it in the dark. Bringing shade is highly recommended - it got very hot during our stay. Stargazing was great. Bathrooms were not as clean as could be hoped, but we felt this was more due to the lack of care from other campers during the weekend.. It wasn't that hard to keep clean once we had the campsite to ourselves on Sunday :) Overall, highly recommend for staying in the SC area!
