The campsite has an amazing view of the river, and the sound of the flowing water is very calming. The site is also easy to find and about 30 mins from the state park swimming area.

Shady Lower Yuba River Site 2
We rented both campsites #1 and #2 and enjoyed our stay. The water is beautiful and very, very cold! We were told it comes out of the bottom of the dam so it never warms up. ICE cold. It was still really fun / funny to go in, especially with the Floaties.
One of the sites has a small, shady area for your stove and chairs, and a larger area with some shade for your tents. This site backs up to signs that say "Private Property - Keep Out". The other site has no shade. We did not utilize this space except to park our (AWD) cars. There is a house with a porch and yard overlooking both sites.
Wally who met us was nice and friendly. There were very friendly dogs who would come by and say hi. The portos were very clean and appear to be cleaned once a week (maybe on Thursdays?) It was not far to bring our stuff from our non-AWD cars parked above to the campsite.
Two women came and warned us not to go past the "Private Property" line and also told us to keep our dog on the leash. They walked through the middle of our camp several times and once set two chairs and a music speaker up next to where we were sitting on the river. There is some car noise if that bothers you be aware.

It's a nice little spot on the river, Wally directed us to site 2 since there was no one else there, site 1 has very little shade, 2 is much shadier. The site is pretty close to the Hwy, and the road noise of cars over the bridge all night made it a bit hard to sleep. It was an OK place to basecamp from for a couple of days.

This property was beautiful and right on the river! We saw some of the most stunning sunsets and meteor showers. Wally was very accommodating and came to check on us every so often to make sure we had everything we needed. Would love to return some time in the future :)

Nice getaway in the nature and great place to unplug. The site has direct access to the river and there’s lots of privacy, perfect if you want to avoid crowds. Hosts were friendly and welcoming!

Really amazing private spot right on the river. Host was super helpful and accommodating. Only criticism is the listing said there was a communal fire pit and wood available to buy (so we planned our food around that), and when we got there turned out fire restrictions were in effect, so no fires allowed....Would have been nice to know that before we arrived.

The river access was great!! Love that we were able to bring our dogs and let them play in the river. The only downfall for us was the worry of foxtails In the campsite. It was quiet and relaxing.

Wonderful private site on the Yuba River!
Host, Wally, was great! He was kind and helpful (shared a few kitchen items with us) but non-intrusive. Site was sandy & shady with directly in front of a private beach on the river. Porta-potty was clean. Definitely need 4wd to drive into site, but non-4wd vehicles were parked very close by, we could’ve walked all our stuff in easily.
Our entire group was thrilled with our site & all plan on camping here again.

This campsite was great. Very close to the river and plenty of flat ground for tents. Host Wally was very friendly and helpful. Sites had plenty of shade and there was a hose with a spray nozzle for water play or bottle refills. Beach area was slightly rocky but not bad. The water was fast moving when we went but the beach area water was not fast and you could wade out comfortably.

First time Hipcamper so we were somewhat surprised to be so close to someone's house. Wally was great. We booked both sites so we had the riverfront to ourselves.

really pretty spot on the river. sites are far apart from each other. the property is close to other homes so not super private in that sense but a great spot overall

We had a great stay at this site. 30ft walk from the river provided soothing sounds and refreshing night swims. Wally was a very considerate and accommodating host. Access to a hose was a huge plus, and a very celan porta potty . Lots of shade, great spot for our dog. Beautiful nature sightings- will bring better fishing gear next time!

We booked both this site and the second site that's offered! This area is the perfect getaway from the Bay Area. The river is beautiful, clear, and cold. Perfect for cooling off in the hot sun. Highly recommend bringing shade structures!

A real gem close to the Bay Area! Although the weather was in the 90s, the river was a perfect place to keep cool all day. It's the perfect amount of coldness! Wally was great at helping us answer all our questions before a trip and a delight to chat with when we arrived. We hung out with our pool inflatables in the river and fished for trout all weekend. So fantastic!

Great place to stay, Wally is awesome. The river was only 50 feet away from the tent and you can take an inner-tube down the river if you want too. The river is calm near the site. Camp site 2 is very well shaded and kept it cool during the HOT summer days. I would come back here for sure to stay!

Beautiful, quiet spot right on the river. We brought tubes and tide ourselves to a tree to just float in place - it was perfect! If you go too far out, the current can be strong, so having a way to stay put is recommended.
A great escape to enjoy the sun and mother nature! Only regret is that we didn't stay two night

Loved this site. Right on the river. We even had a tiny beach to put our chairs on. Communal firepit. There is a little hill to drive down so 4W drive is helpful. Overall great place and would gladly return!

This place had an amazing location! Waking up to the river was amazing! There’s a friendly dog named hank who will greet you and Wally the host was so kind and gave us our space but still checked up on us to make sure we were okay! The only feedback I would give is the porta potty needed to be serviced. But Overall I would stay here again!

It was nice, great river access, great views, some shade on campsite #1 in the morning hours. Kinda not kept up much. Toilet was super dirty, no real hiking or exploring unless your willing to walk on river rock for a miles!! Difficult time getting directions, so call and call if they don’t answer. Water is super cold!!!

This is a great central location. Close to San Francisco (took me 2.5 hours to get there) and close to Tahoe. I loved being on the river, we brought biodegradable soap, and it made for easy face and body cleanup (yes, it’s cold, but oh so refreshing). We spent two nights and did a day trip to Tahoe, then stopped at grass valley brewery on our way back to camp.

This was a great spot on the yuba river. Only complaint would be the construction Saturday morning down the road. Besides that we were able relax with our feet in the river, have a bonfire, and enjoy ourselves! If your gonna fish - would recommend fly fishing rod. The trout were jumping out of the water!

Shady Lower Yuba River Campsite 1
This camp site was AMAZING! Not only was it absolutely stunning, the host, Wally, was great. He was extremely friendly and was always checking on us to see if we needed anything - he even dug through his things to find us a sinker so we could fish! Additionally, you are only a few steps away from the gorgeous Yuba river. We took a 2.5 hour float down and it was the highlight of the stay (make sure you bring your floaties and rafts). We aren’t from California but are going to make sure we come back at least once a year. Highly recommend!

We had a great time! The address did not go through on the GPS accurately and we had to drive down a few different roads to find it. The GPS took us to halfway across the bridge but it was actually a right turn before the bridge. The river was so perfect for us and the kids. It was convenient to have a porta potty on site, but they've had more campers than normal because of COVID-19 and week day campers so it was very full. There was a heatwave while there (feel like temps of 108) but the river is so fresh and we took breaks from the sun and had a lot of sunscreen and sunshirts for kids, so it never felt super hot and was perfect. We had floaties and went down the first set of baby rapids with all the kids (one at a time) and then got out right after and walked back up to do it again. They loved it!
One thing that sucked was that because our visit was during the week we could hear construction nearby that's started very early in the morning.
Overall, it was a great time few days for all!

We had a wonderful time on Wally’s property. The river was absolutely beautiful and very accessible from our campsite. While the property was completely booked out for the holiday weekend, we still felt like we had ample privacy for our needs. Wally was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to make us feel prepared and comfortable.
I will definitely be coming back soon.
