Our Time At The Honey House
When my fiancé and I decided to return to Arcata for our spring vacation, we chose to try hip-camping for the first time. We weren’t quite sure what to expect. We needn’t have worried.
We were greeted upon arrival by Kristen and Dan, two of the friendliest people we have met in a long time. After a bit of talk, they told us if we needed anything to just ask.
As we walked the mown path to the house, we felt the peacefulness of nature around us. I can think of no other way to describe it but to say it was perfect.
The porch has a spacious coffee drinking/dining area, a cozy, comfy seating area, an infrared sauna, as well as an outside shower and bathtub, both with hot water.
Inside we were pleased to find an amazing space. Comfy bed, functional kitchen, refrigerator.
The next morning, as we sat outside having our coffee, (French press provided as was the wonderful local coffee), listening to the wind chimes, a trio of deer moved through the yard intent upon some mission of their own.
We decided to accept the earlier invitation to “stroll around the property.” I won’t spoil *your* walk by telling you what to expect, but it’s one of the coolest things we’ve ever done.
On our way out, Kristen was sitting where we’d parked, and we had our “exit meeting.” Chatting, we loaded the car. Driving away, my fiancé remarked, “I feel like we just spent time at a tropical spa or something.”
Oh, by the way, we already booked it for next year!
