Great spot! We were nervous about not being able to find a spot on Memorial Day weekend so it was nice to reserve something for peace of mind. We were nervous about having a campfire cause it was windy and dry but I'm sure times earlier in the year would be good

This site is very near Carrizo Plains National Monument, yet is very isolated and quiet. We've stayed here multiple times when we visit Carrizo.

We never made it to the site. Google Maps did not match the Host's directions. She said there was no signage of roads and its easy to get lost. We tried her by phone but it was out of service. We sent several emails but never received a response. This hipcamp seems out of service! Will inquire about a refund.

Overall, if you are looking for a place to stay overnight… it will do. It was our first time coming to Carrizo Plains and we were unsure of the camping situation, so having a spot gave us peace of mind. That said, we explored CP first and it was amazing with lots of BLM and free camping options. We drove to our Heritage reserved spot, and the landscape significantly changed. It felt more desolate. The 7 mile road to get to the location was bumpy and unpleasant. So, we rested for a couple hours inside our van, then left and found a lovely spot to camp inside CP. Pro: secured camp spot, picnic table, fire pit Con: not the best location, overgrown vegetation, not picturesque

My plans changed and I didn’t end up spending the night in the site. But I saw the sign for it on 7 Mile Rd, and the owner was very easy to communicate with as I was considering booking. Seems like a great spot.

I had a great time at the campsite. It was easy to find, right off the scenic drive along Elkhorn Road, and Google Maps with GPS coordinates made navigation simple. I even had good cell service with T-Mobile. The campsite was spacious and peaceful, featuring a simple bench and a camp fire pit. Although I saw a camper and a couple of houses, it seemed deserted. The grass was a bit overgrown, but that didn't bother me much. Just a tip: bring your own firewood since there are no trees around for gathering branches. This was my first time using Hipcamp, and it was a positive experience.

This was a perfect place to spend the night as we were passing through on our way up to NorCal. It’s a field in the middle of nowhere. There’s just a picnic table and a fire ring (but I don’t think fires were allowed when we stayed). Make sure to have shelter, water and toilet. Also, follow instructions closely. We got there after dark and took a little focus to find the site. I’d recommend it for a night or two.

This is a nice, remote spot. Very basic - just a dirt road that ends at a picnic bench, fire pit, and a small, mowed area. There was one camper in sight, but, I never saw anybody. The views are pretty, and the access to Carrizo was easy. The instructions to get there were easy to follow. For me, it was a place to sleep between Carrizo adventures. I wouldn't necessarily think to stay here with a group for the camping itself, but that might just be me.

I expected remote, but this site was overgrown to the point where my dogs could not even run through the meadows. I expected a larger mowed area. As is was, I couldn't arrange my 24 foot RV without hanging my exhaust into the meadows. And the fire pit was overgrown as well. I actually didn't stay at the site and moved on.

Phenomenal location close to Carrizo Plain National monument attractions. Beautiful spot smack dab in the middle of the super bloom (if you come in spring on a good year) with views of both mountain ranges. May be impassable in the wet season. Directions were fool-proof for finding the location. Highly recommend!

I loved my first experience with HipCamp. We had the entire area - 2 1/2 acres! - to ourselves! However, better than that, there was no one around as far as the eye could see - which was amazing. Great views. Was worried about using the coordinates to find the site but they worked and HipCamp had a couple of signs placed so we knew we'd gotten to the right place. We enjoyed the fire pit and were pleased and surprised that a picnic table was provided as well. We are looking for our next HipCamp adventure!

What a beautiful camping spot to experience Carrizo Plain and the super bloom. We have an awesome time in this quiet and peaceful plot with incredible views of Carrizo. This spot is going on our favorites and we will for sure come again.

Beautiful, open, isolated spot. We loved being able to let our dog off leash. And happy my husband and I both had internet out there. It was super cold and windy during our stay but will definitely be back when it gets warmer!

I had a great stay here at Heritage. Loved the 4x4 exploiting near by. It was peaceful and relaxing. Would love to go back when the wildflowers are in bloom.

Very remote property that is great when you just need to get away. Lovely roads to bike ride on and so nice to be able to have the dogs off leash. Beautiful sunsets and wonderful for stargazing. Some cool scarab beetles and unique bird species. Be ready for wind and don’t mess with the tumbleweeds! 😘 We will definitely be back!

This is our second visit and the view is still incredible. If you like to camp in the middle of nowhere, this is your best choice.

Heritage was very helpful

I was very nervous discovering the location of this site as it is very remote! Heritage called me personally to help me work out the location. It is beautiful, I didn’t see another soul for 45 min. before reaching the spot. Built a fire and relaxed.

Great spot for a dog to run! If you aren’t put off by some dilapidated or abandoned RVs, trailers, and other random living spaces, it’s a great spot to be alone. It’s true dry camping, with a picnic table and firepit the only amenities available. Great communication with the host and spot on directions.

Peaceful with a beautiful view

We are on a trip cross country and where looking for a cool cheap place to stay. We have stayed in hotels, camp grounds, and at rest stops camping in the truck. This camp site was private, beautiful, and so peaceful. It is what we needed to stretch our legs and get back to nature as sleeping in a truck isn’t very rest conducive. I was intimidated by the directions but we found the site even in the dark and set up camp with the moonlight couldn’t have asked for more!

Heritage camp was a great, remote spot. There really isn't anything but a table, fire pit and 360-degree views. This spot will be ideal during wildflower season! Otherwise, it's a nice, private, place to camp for the night in the middle of the Carrizo Plains!

Boondocking with privacy & coyotes

We stayed at Heritage near Carrizo Plains National Monument as our first night in a rented RV and also our first time boondocking. We could have boondocked nearby, but it was easier to go with a known location on private property well off any public road. This really paid off on this first-ever RV day. Everything took longer than expected and we pulled in 30 minutes after sunset. It was great having really clear directions and GPS coordinates--one less thing to worry about! This is not a "Dark Sky" park, but the skies were plenty clear for me to take a few star photos. I would have missed the Milky Way if the coyotes had not awakened us at 3:30am. It was cool taking photos of our RV, the Milky Way and our Great Pyrenees, Bear, as he looked for the howling coyotes. The location is fairly flat, quite private and has a picnic table. Tent camping would have been fine at this location also.
