Welcome to our Rustic Hideaway! We are excited to meet and host you. Our property is located in the Los Padres National Forest and this farm has been in our family since 1979! It was first purposed for raising chickens and turkeys but in 1991 we switched to pistachios and hay.  Those crops are still being farmed today here on the farm. About the property Our property is near to both Cuyama and Buckhorn should you need to pop out to get some services or supplies. Our property provides great access to nearby outdoor pursuits like hiking and birdwatching. We do live onsite and will plan to greet campers but we are a working ranch so campers will see us sporadically! Please do reach out with any questions or concerns though.  This is an ADULT only campsite! Our favorite parts of living here are the mountain views, awesome sunsets, and the loads of easily accessed hiking. -Private fire pit provided -Private picnic table provided -His and hers flushing toilets -Some cell service, no wifi -Wood or charcoal BBQ onsite -Trash bins available -Pets allowed Additional details to note Please make sure to bring drinking water, food and utensils for your stay. Our quiet time is 1am. Dogs allowed just pick up after them please! Check in is after 2pm and check out is before 12pm. This listing is for adults only.

Donkeys and dogs :)
It’s our second time back to the site and we loved it just as much this time! The addition of the donkeys, turkeys and peacocks are wonderful. Lee and Laura are amazing and attentive owners. We’ll be back for our third trip soon!

Best campsite in SoCal!
Y'all. I can't get enough of this place! This was my third time camping here and per usual, it was perfect! Lee and Lara, the hosts, are the sweetest folks and were accommodating to all our needs. They even brought us popsicles and apples to feed the donkeys! If you're looking for a place to host a large group, this is THE spot to check out! Thank y'all for everything!! Can't wait to come back here!

Wonderful, well-equipped camp!
Lee & his wife were wonderful hosts! Their property is beautiful and the space is very well-equipped. It would be a great space for large groups, with tons of different areas to be, full electric and water. The camp is surrounded by pistachio groves and mountains, a very peaceful place. There are also some sweet friends next door, 3 rescue donkeys and friendly wild turkeys. :) We would definitely love to return!

Secluded and peaceful
The Mesa site was great! Secluded, simple, and beautiful scenery. It felt like we had a whole mountain (well, mesa) to ourselves.

Comfortably curated "glamping"
My friends and I stayed here Labor Day weekend and had an amazing time! The property is beautiful and well-taken care of, with plenty of shade and nice bathrooms (including flush toilets and shower with cold running water, which was refreshing when it was hot during the day!). We had fun making pizzas in the wood-fired smoker (next time we'll have to bring some ribs!) and enjoyed having a dishwashing sink with running water. At night there were plenty of lights strung up including some cute sparkly lights in the trees. Truly a "glamping" experience! Our dog loved running around and having the freedom to be off-leash. He even got to play a bit with the very friendly dog that lives at the property. Lee and Laura were excellent hosts. They came by to chat a bit and make sure we had everything we needed, then left us plenty of privacy. There were clear skies and plenty of stars when we went (no light pollution!), so I'd definitely recommend this spot for star-gazing/meteor shower viewing. Also do yourself a favor and buy some pistachios at the Santa Barbara Pistachio Company and schedule a wine tasting down the road with Larry at Sagebrush Annie's. Great wine and he regaled us with tales of his days as a Colorado cowboy. All-in-all this was a great location. I can't wait to visit again and introduce more friends to this spot!

Loved it!
Amazing rustic place with plenty of space to spread out and enjoy. We didn’t have a large enough group to fire up the BBQ but will hopefully return to see it working! Lots of places to sit and enjoy, really loved the lights all in the trees at night. Enjoyed walking up the hill for sunset. Gracious hosts, thanks again so much for sharing your property with us. Oh and also really nice to have nice bathrooms with flush toilets!

Very nice site, but dog has fleas
The site itself is very nice; plenty of shade and nature to see. If you are interested in bird watching, there is also plenty of that. There is a small trail that leads up the closest mountain/hill, and you can see from miles all around. A great location for a private trip. It is important to note that there is a very friendly dog on site; however, if you are bringing dogs with you, be careful because he has fleas and they definitely came home on my dog :/

great group camping site!
Great camping site for camping newbies. private ranch hub at a pistachio farm. The hosts live adjacent and are very helpful. this place has everything you need to have a great camping weekend. both men's and women's bathrooms, (with shower), mood lighting in the trees, covered eating area, lots of table and places to hang. 3 fire pits and a huge pit bbq stove in the middle where you could easily cook a meal for 50. overall this is a great place for a huge group trip. also a shooting range up the hill and nice hiking and views of the area

Extraordinary Place and People!
Extraordinary place and people! My wife and I stayed for a short while and were absolutely blown away by all the amenities, privacy, seclusion, scenery and splendid surprises! Was almost too big for us to take full advantage of but want to come back with a big group of friends and/or family. Lee and Lura were exceptional hosts and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience! I’ll keep it brief so you can get your expectations exceeded like we did. We'll definitely be back.

We had a great time staying on Lee's property, and Lee and his wife (and their adorable dog) are such nice and welcoming hosts. It was really refreshing to get out of the city for a weekend and hike around in nature, and to be able to see a sky full of stars and the Milky Way at night. The structures they have built at Rustic Hunt Club are really special, and it would be fun to visit with a large group (there is plenty of room, and a very long handmade table that would be perfect for a feast or reception of some kind). We hope to come stay here again soon.

Get lost among the pistachio trees
Pad with a view is an understatement! We woke up to the beautiful, endless view of pistachio trees and went to bed with the most beautiful sunset over the mountains. The private trail is a slight incline and short (only about a mile one-way) but the view at the top is breath taking. It’s a working farm, and it’s incredible to see the people at work. We still felt very safe (workers were probably 100 yards away). Laura and Lee are so friendly and Covid safe! There were other campers, but we never saw them. Our dogs could wander off-leash and Laura and Lee’s dog Charlie is so friendly! The fire pit was lovely for the cool nights. We didn’t really know what to expect when we booked other than that we wanted to be Covid safe and private. Boy, did they deliver! We can’t wait to go back!

Very unique, great, space, with perfect hosts. Much more than just a campsite with a kitchen area with counters, benches, a sink, lights/power, a fire pit and tons of space to set up camp. Nice sunset views from camp and even better views if you hike up the ridge.

Glamping Meets Farmstay
My group and I had such a wonderful time at the Rustic Hideaway that I almost don't want to keep this hidden gem to ourselves, haha. We arrived and were greeted by the host, Laura, who showed us around the property and immediately made us feel welcome and at home. She had provided tons of wood for us to use during our stay and encouraged us to take free reign of the property and explore. The property itself is massive with plenty of room to set up tents and a huge outdoor kitchen and entertaining space with lots of picnic tables, a bbq grill/smoker, multiple fire pits, a kitchen sink with lots of prep area, a bar, men's and women's bathrooms, a shower... it was basically "glamping." During the day we wandered through the pistachio trees on the farm and the foreman stopped to talk to us about how to find ripe ones to pick and encouraged us to come see the harvesting. (TIP: check on if any harvesting is happening during your stay and if it's going to be close to the campsite. When we were there the harvesting was across the property but if it's right by the site you'd be in for a loud and early alarm clock.) Between hiking, exploring the property and farm, setting up hammocks in all the trees, stargazing, bird watching, grilling and fireside drinking, there was no shortage of things to enjoy at the Rustic Hideaway. We can't wait to get back!!

The Mesa
Nice Hideaway Getaway
This was one of the finest campsites I've ever stayed at. Remote location, beautiful views, tons of quiet and privacy. The scenery might not be for everybody but I really enjoy the austerity and ruggedness of it. The Cuyama valley and badlands is a pretty interesting area. Access to the Mesa campsite is via a mile long, well maintained dirt road. Vehicles taken on this road should have good ground clearance and good tires. My 2wd Toyota Tacoma towing a 13ft camper handled it just fine. Amenities were simple but nothing more than I needed: a large shade structure with a picnic table, and a trash receptacle. There is plenty of room to roam on the property and it borders the Los Padres National Forest, which was unfortunately closed during my visit. The owners were friendly and responsive.

The Rustic Old Hunt Cabin was a special stop for us - leaving the coast is not something we normally do but we are sure glad we did! Lee and his wife were friendly and helpful. Firewood was stacked by the fire pit and bathrooms were clean. We had the full use of the camp for just he two of us ~ we made an outstanding meal on the campfire and it was simple with the large kitchen area to do so. Sunset over the pistachio trees set an amazing view for us to sit and chat while the stars came out. Peaceful and quiet we slept wonderfully and woke up to the sun peaking over the mountain top behind us. Short trip up to the top gave us a spectacular view of the valley. We would love to bring a group back here and stay a few days, enough room to be together but also to find space to be alone. Charlie the dog is an added bonus as he came to visit us in the morning.

We had a great experience at this property. Upon arrival, we were informed that a prior group had trashed the property and that the restrooms were clogged but the hosts had portapotties there very soon after our arrival and later had a small crew come by to try to fix the bathrooms but were sadly unable to. The hosts are very kind, friendly people and made sure to check in several times over the weekend to make sure we didn't need anything. The site itself has lots of space, shade, electricity, running sink water and trash dumpster on site. There is minimal cell service. We were informed of lots of hiking trails on the property but it was way too hot to explore. You can tell that they take great care of their property and it's really a shame that they had to experience their property being trashed and damaged from bad campers. The site was very clean upon arrival and we had a nice, relaxing time. Hope to come back again when it cools down!

The Mesa
Simple camp with lovely views
Lee is super communicative and directions were accurate - there is poor service in the area so we put Google maps offline just in case. We met Lee at their house and she guided us up to the site. I do like that the site is super secluded. It's perfect for a primitive camp and I like the shelter and table provided. The views are really lovely. We ended up sleeping under the stars - great view. Lee was helpful in making sure we had everything we needed and went out of her way to bring us hot water which was very kind.

Bird watchers paradise
Beautiful, easy going and relaxing. It was really lovely to stay on the farm, the hosts are super nice and it was fascinating to see pistachio nuts growing. It’s a working farm so there’s plenty of interesting things to look at. The amount of bird life is just amazing, birds everywhere, all different colors singing in a wide array of trees and plants, all set in a beautiful scenery. The set up was really great, very comfortable the bathroom was very clean there’s plenty of shade, running water, the shower was cold but refreshing. It was private, lots of great hiking. The farm has three lovely dogs, we’re in love with Charlie! Our dogs got along no drama.
