Great stay in Carmel valley!
We just came back from a three night stay at the redwood tent cabin. We had a great stay - the cabin was very clean and we had everything we needed to cook, relax on the wood rocking chairs and sleep in the cabin. We were far from the other cabin and the owners home - it felt like we were alone with nature which was very relaxing. Our dog had lots of fun playing fetch in the field. The owner was very welcoming and came to check we had everything we needed. He also gave us great advice on the road to follow to get there - it avoided us a long (almost single lane) road full of turns. We would definitely go again.

Serene and secluded
Great home base to come back to after a day of adventures and a beautiful place to wake up and enjoy a slow morning. Wondrous wildflowers in spring. Big thanks to Joseph for creating these structures and sharing them with us.

Gorgeous glamping!
Loved the artisanal cabin, with just enough amenities and lovely views all around, including upward at night. Joseph was a wonderful host and we enjoyed meeting his family, who even provided us with fresh picked roses from their garden. There is one other cabin on the property but it's far away, so the situation is very private and lovely. Would definitely recommend!

Great little spot. Accommodations were exactly what we had hoped for. Clean and cozy. Great shower/bathroom and very comfortable bed. Outdoor kitchen was perfect. Wish we had our own little pearl like this tucked away in the woods somewhere. Pet friendly too!

Awesome spot!
Tent top cabin was the perfect spot to celebrate our anniversary! The outdoor kitchen had everything we needed and the open field was great to play fetch with our pup. We didn’t sleep in the cabin since we brought our camper van, but having all the amenities including a private bathroom, picnic table, trash/recycle bins fit all of our needs. We’ll definitely be back!

Truly beautiful experience. We rented both cabins for a family of four. The cabins are beautifully and artfully constructed. Joe was attentive but not intrusive. The cabins are super comfortable—nothing fancy or upscale, but super cute and cozy. We cooked several meals there. The kitchens are well equipped, and I thought it was really nice that they have all the equipment for barbecuing ready for you to use. The showers are awesome… tankless water heaters give you instant hot water and the pressure is excellent. Also just a beautiful little bathroom that Joe has created. If you’re into birding, this property is absolutely a dream. We saw and heard dozens of species. I’d highly recommend it.

Absolutely Perfect!
Can’t wait to go back! The place was beautiful - so much attention to detail. The directions were perfect and the gorgeous drive through the surrounding area was an experience in itself. Loved the hot shower! Just a perfect spot to get away…serenity, peace, beautiful night sky, fresh clean mountain air. Cozy cabin…just absolute perfection.

Redwood Cabin nestled in the oaks
Joseph and his wife were extremely helpful and kind but gave up plenty of privacy. They just checked in quickly each day to make sure we had everything we needed. The cabin is just as wonderful as it looks in all the pictures. The heater kept us plenty warm during the chilly January nights and the kitchen included everything you could possibly need besides the actual food. There’s a cooler on the front porch to store your perishable items and an inverter in case you need to charge your phone in a pinch. You can see the other cabin and the main house but they’re far enough away that you can’t hear the people in them. We fell asleep each night to only the sounds of nature and the nearby stream. I would definitely recommend arriving before nightfall and using the directions given by the host rather than using google maps. If you do that, I’m sure you’ll enjoy yourself as much as we did. It’s a beautiful and charming cabin with wonderful hosts!

Peaceful place
Very peaceful place. The owners were super friendly and helpful. The cabin was cozy and quiet, the water was warm, and the kitchen was adequate for all meals we cooked. Loved hearing the birds sing during the day and the frogs at night!

Quiet and comfortable
This spot was the perfect escape, yet still with the many comforts of plumbing, a stove and well equipped kitchen, and of course the coziest cabin. So quiet and peaceful and tons of stars! My dog loved exploring the site and sunbathing on the porch. It definitely got chilly at night so I definitely appreciated the propane heater in the cabin! The roads are a bit windy so I’m glad I drove in during the daytime to familiarize myself with the route. Definitely no cell reception or Wi-Fi on the drive up so download any maps beforehand. It’s a fantastic spot to get off the grid, while still being only 20 minutes from Carmel Valley Village.

Beautiful scenery and a cosy cabin. Really enjoyed the bbq and porch chairs. The little heater packs a punch and when outside got too chilly we retired indoors to continue playing cards around the indoor table.

Good place for relaxing
I and my husband has one night at Joseph’s cabin. The cabin is built very nice and special. Joseph is very friendly and always willing for helping. It was our short trip, weekend get away, but we had a lot of experiences. Weather was so good too. We saw a deer on the way we went there. Everything is very nature and beautiful in fall season

Really cool spot in an oak woods! Quiet, shady, relaxing. I drove to the Monterey area to check out the aquarium and beaches and enjoyed coming back to the cabin to cook, read and relax. Frogs visited me in the bathroom one night, and one was chilling in the toilet bowl the next morning, so I suggest keeping an eye out for them so as to avoid accidental toilet encounters! I noted in another review that in inside lights are touch activated - there’s no light switch inside, just tap the metal button on each light fixture to operate.

Joseph clearly communicated directions and info prior to our stay and kindly stopped by each day to check on us and ask if we needed anything. We stayed in cabin #2, and it was perfect and exactly as expected based on the pictures. It was calm and lovely to have breakfast and dinner at the cabin and also a beautiful, meandering country drive through Carmel Valley and into Monterey and Point Lobos for daytime kayaking and hiking adventures.

Redwood Tent Top Cabin in the Oaks
I stayed at Joseph's cabin for 3 nights which was unfortunately timed because the first two days were at the tail end of a heatwave hitting California. It was hot during the day, but the area cooled off to a pleasant temperature through the night and luckily the cabin has windows with screens that open in every direction.
The location that the cabin is at is pretty open and if you're looking to get close to nature, you'll see your share of birds, squirrels, etc.. and the occasional deer. The cabin itself is quaint and clean. The only potential issue is if you are tall. I'm about 5' 8" and as you get to the end of the sloped roof, you do have the potential to hit your head.
The only other things to be aware of had less to do with Joseph or the cabin but more to do with the nature of well... nature and getting to the area itself.
With regards to nature, be aware there will be bugs. I don't think there is any good way to deal with them, it's just being out in nature, you just have to get used to the idea that you are never out there alone in nature...
With regards to getting there, the location is relatively remote and the drive there is interesting to say the least. If you have never driven in the area, I would avoid arriving late. The road is an undivided road that has room for 2 cars most of the time but has lots of curves and blind corners. During the day, it's kinda a fun drive.

Intimate cabin
It was a great experience! Tiny cabin with well stocked kitchen and grill. There is a great spot for star gazing right outside the cabin. One problem was bugs, but host provided insect repellent, which worked okay.

Quiet Cabin
Super creative and super DIY with charm cabin and kitchen space that was in a quiet space. I loved all the little thoughtful adds-- like the kitchen nook space, place to eat together on the wooden bar. I enjoyed the little table on my right side of the bed with the little paper roll to write notes.
