Your private Yurt in the woods
Yurt · Sleeps 2Come and relax! We have an outdoor (and indoor) shower, a claw foot bath tub, fire pit, and large deck to chill on. Surrounded by Ferns, Madrones, Incense Cedars, and Doug Firs, you will never know you are only two miles from town. Country Living magazine listed Nevada City as one of the top 10 small cities. Our property connects to the Woodpecker Preserve and the Gracie Trail if you hike up the mountain.
We absolutely recommend trying to stay for two or more nights so that you can get accustomed to the space, learn the property, settle in, and relax.
Things you might like to bring: headlamps, robe, flip flops, slippers, hiking shoes.
There is a wood-fired stove inside with plenty of wood stacked to keep you warm and there is a wood-fired hot tub that is dedicated to this yurt only. Both require a fire to be lit and maintained to keep it hot.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a hot plate, toaster oven, microwave, refrigerator, cutlery, pots and pans, grill, etc. There should be charcoal available, but if not, please plan to bring your own or go to the store.
Water: we are on a well and provide fresh drinking water in a container for you. It’s fine to drink, cook, and bathe with the water from the tap but it can have a minerally quality to it. We test the well annually. We provide filtered water but if it runs out, the water out of the tap is safe and delicious.
Fireplace: An allocation of firewood is provided with the Yurt . This can be used to heat the stove, fire pit outside, or the hot tub. If additional firewood is desired, please take it out of the firewood rack next to the bathroom. When you do this, each cubby of firewood will cost an additional $20. Please Venmo when you take the wood. Also, please do not touch the firewood on the wood stack. This is still drying, and we use this wood to refill the cubbies and supply the wood that is provided within the yurt.
The hot tub: it’s wood-fired. This means you have to heat it with a fire to get it hot. This can take many hours to get to the right temperature. It’s a good idea to start a fire right when you get there!
Sleep: we have a heating blanket for cold nights. It’s about 10 degrees cooler on our land than in town. There will be a fan for you as well during the warm season.
