Just what our family needed... The campsite was right off the small road (which didn't seem to be heavily traveled) and had a large pad for parking, the campfire, our six person tent, and a large screen tent for our kitchen. And there was still PLENTY of room. This site would accommodate a larger party and/or multiple families. There was a nice port potty, which was well lit, and came in handy for the kids. Then, there is just a short walk down the path to the private river access. Truly... the river was shallow, approximately 2 feet, and had calm areas and one faster moving area. It was clear that there had been work invested to make a gravel pathway (under the shallow water) out to "rock island".
We lived in the river, during our stay. With this in mind, I would encourage others to bring picnic food for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner and eat right on the river. The campground/river were filled with minnow, crayfish, tadpoles/pollywogs, deer, lizards, and more. The kids had a blast learning about nature and playing. We heard the river and the frogs at night while in our tent. So amazing.
Honestly, it was hard to pull the kids away from this site... and amazing to see how fortunate we were to have our own private river area. As we were driving home, we could see the public areas of the river packed with people.
This place is definitely a little slice of paradise... and the host was very communicative, thoughtful, and helpful. Thank you, Katie! We look forward to coming back.
