The Once Upon a Ranch consists of 32 acre of flat land located approximately 30 minutes from Sacramento, 35 minutes from Napa, and 40 minutes from San Francisco. We had a great time camping here and interacting with the farm animals. Lots of room to set up our tent and park at the site, and they supplied a picnic table and fire cage. We enjoyed seeing and hearing the trains go by and the roosters crowing (may be too loud for some). Hosts were friendly and helpful.

Site 7 - RV Dry Camping and Tent Campout
This was a perfect camping spot for my overnights in the area - it was safe, good directions, clean, quiet (except for the sweet roosters and nearby train, which were not bothersome at all!) and pleasant with a nice sunrise view. It was an added bonus to have access to a real toilet with running water. I myself was super happy to be the only one there and to be able to walk my dogs about and to not have to share the (large) open space with anyone else! I would stay here again (and plan to if possible) in a heartbeat.

I loved getting to spend two nights on the ranch! The ranch has sheep, goats, a dog, chickens and turkeys and a railroad track, lots of fun. Not the most quiet, and its kinda dusty, very hot in the midday during summer with not a ton of shade and windy especially at night , but if you're ok with these things its perfect. Nice cute clean bathroom to use. Looked at the stars. Private, but not isolated (which is preferred for a solo fem camper)

Nouae was great. Very nice, easy going, and accommodating. He gave us a tour of his land, and was more than ok with us roaming around free and checking out the animals. The site was perfect, bathroom was super clean. Would definitely come back.

Felt like the photos oversold this place. It’s basically a dry, dust bowl with some fire pits on it. No soft grass or anywhere I would want to set up my tent for a comfy camp out. Host was nice enough but this is bare bones dirt, some bushes, thorns, and rocks

The ranch atmosphere was nice. I appreciate what they are trying to do and opening up their place for strangers. But I found a lot of scrap metal in the area I parked, it was down a very unpleasant road where I was followed at one point ( just wanted to note) also the ranch was beautiful at night besides the party going on, on a nearby property that was pretty loud.

We recently stayed at Once Upon A Ranch and found the experience to be okay, but it didn’t quite deliver the relaxing camping vibe we were hoping for. The campsites themselves were decently sized and had potential, but the grounds felt a bit unkept. There were a lot of weeds and the grass was rough, dry, and overgrown in areas, which made it less comfortable for camping or even just hanging out around the site. The biggest downside, though, was the noise. Reggaetón music and loud partying from a nearby house carried on until 3:00am, which really took away from the peaceful, nature-oriented atmosphere we were expecting. We didn’t get any sleep and contemplated leaving during the night. If you’re looking for a quiet retreat under the stars, this may not be the best fit. The host was nice and the train tracks behind can be a nice touch. But should be considered by potential campers as it passes roughly every 30 minutes into the night and can be rather loud. We personally liked watching the train pass. Although, if you are looking for peace and quiet this may not be the right site for you. Overall, the location and setup have potential, but a little more maintenance and better noise control would go a long way toward making this a more enjoyable and relaxing destination.

It’s a nice farm. Kids had a great time. The host is super nice. You can see the trains come by which is beautiful at night under the stars. I recommend renting a E bike . It was fun riding around the farm.

We had a great stay at one upon a ranch. Check in instructions were clear and the host, Nouae was really helpful. He even helped jumpstart my car when I killed the battery. Bathroom was clean. Was very windy but that’s out of anyone’s control!

The campsite is pretty good, there are many around. Nouae also helped us a bit with standing up our own tent. Very hospitable host! The restrooms were clean and tidy. The wind was a bit strong but not enough for us to pack up.

Tent camped for one night on Nouae’s land. He was such a nice, welcoming person. We got there late around 11:00 pm and had no problem finding our spot thanks to the wide stretch of outdoor lights and the thoughtful navigation we received from the host. We enjoyed hearing the train in the distance. Seeing the train pass by in the morning was very serene. Roosters woke us up, but we liked hearing them. Bathroom was super accessible and close. 10/10 would recommend this spot and would totally stay again!!!

Daughter was headed home from Bodega Bay and stumbled upon this place because we wanted one more night of camping before home. We loved the open grass feel and dark skyline. Stars were amazing and it had a cool vibe with the trains going by at night. It didn't bother us one bit. It actually felt like we were watching something from YouTube. Definitely be back!

We had a great time camping at Once Upon a Ranch! The host was incredibly welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed—truly top-notch hospitality. The campsite itself is huge, with plenty of open space to spread out and relax. It felt peaceful and private, with a beautiful ranch vibe. There’s a flushable bathroom nearby the site, which was a nice surprise for a more rustic site. They also provide a picnic bench, which came in handy for meals and hanging out. One of the highlights was getting to see all the farm animals! They have a cow, sheep, pigs, a turkey, ducks, and lots of chickens that roam freely but stay in their area. It really added to the charm of the experience and was especially fun for animal lovers. A couple of things to note: it can be a bit noisy at night, with trains passing by and honking, plus the occasional barking from neighboring dogs or early morning chicken chatter. It didn’t bother us too much, but light sleepers might want to bring earplugs. Pro tip: Bring a canopy because there’s not much shade from the sun since it’s open land. Bring your own drinking water. The water on site is unfiltered groundwater used for irrigation, so it’s not meant for drinking. Overall, this is a great spot for anyone who loves open space, a farm setting, and warm host vibes. We’d definitely come back!

This land is a real farm, lots of animal noises, early until late, so if you’re okay with real country living, it is great. I was the only camper, in February, and enjoyed the experience. Nouae had nice firewood too.

If you’re looking for a quiet respite along your journey — this is NOT it! the folks were very nice, but unfortunately there is an extremely loud train that runs all hours of the night right along the edge of the property. and there’s also at least 50 chickens that will start screaming far before dawn.

This was an amazing spot to camp with wide open park to look at stars with no light pollution and the best part was to watch amtrak trains passing by from campground.

Off the beaten path, I’m a good way! It was quiet, remote, and still close to town (about 12-15 minutes) Host was good to check in digitally and give all of the info I needed. Beer drinker? There a very nice brew house down the street with indoor/outdoor seating and gas fire pits. There’s a great set up for a fire in your site as well.

The host, Nouae, and his community were very nice! We just happened to stay during a busy time for the ranch (their Harvest Festival and Halloween event) so there was a lot going on - a lot of people, constructing, and equipment that we were not expecting. Directions to the sites were not clear once we reached the main house. The site itself was nice. We enjoyed the fire pit and out dog loved the open field where she played.
