We spent 2 nights here last weekend and had a great experience. It’s a really unique campsite and we’re already planning to come back again!
One of the coolest things is that the host has a team of German Shepherds that help protect the property and campsite from bears. We were told they will chase bears away if they come around, which definitely made us feel more comfortable camping there.
There are also lots of organic fruit trees around the property, and guests are welcome to pick the fruit for free. We ate a lot during our stay, and the host even encouraged us to pick more and bring some home. I don’t think I need to buy fruit for the next two weeks 😂
There is plenty of shade for setting up a tent, although I would recommend checking with the host before choosing where to set up. The campsite also provides a kitchen sink with hot water, a dry toilet, and a portable shower. There is a fireplace as well, and firewood was provided for free, which was a really nice bonus.
The location also worked very well for exploring Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Attractions such as the General Sherman Tree are reachable from the campsite, so we were able to use it as our base while exploring the area. Hume Lake was another highlight — it’s a beautiful place to swim, relax, and easily spend half a day. It’s also dog-friendly, which was perfect for us.
Overall, we really enjoyed the peaceful setting, shade, fresh fruit, amenities, and hospitality. We would definitely stay here again!
