Welcome to Moon River Mtn Retreat- a unique mountain side and river front retreat. Two separate lots making up 25 acres, nestled in the Klamath National Forest, with 6 acres all riverfront on the Klamath river, with its flowing water singing you to sleep at night. While across the road sits a mountain side bluff with 2 RV hookups. Some of the many outdoor activities you'll have access to while staying here are: The Pacific Crest Trail (access points within 25 miles down river or 40 minutes north near Mt. Ashland in Oregon) There are also many hiking options in the Trinity Alps, the Red Bluffs, Scott Mountain, and everywhere in-between. Check out the many online hiking sites and apps for detailed information. For all river rats, the options are many! Go rafting and kayaking on the Klamath, Sacramento, Scott, Cal Salmon & Trinity rivers. There are two take out spots on the River bar that the property is located on, one is used for truck and trailer for people using larger rafts or drift boats, and another take out spot on the camping lots down river side. There are guided trips provided by a few outfitters from Oregon and California. If you are competent in class II and above and own your own vessels and gear then you're in luck-rental options are limited to guided companies, day use rentals are not readily available in this area. The mountain side, hosts -2 RV hookups with water, 30 amp service, and septic tie in- along with Wifi. Down the driveway and across the road is where you'll find the large multiple primative camp sites next to the Klamath river. This is suited for car, van, truck, tiny homes on wheels, and even RV's! sits on a mostly flat, easy access, river front camp sites. At this time it is a pick your own site situation, but we will be developing individual sits with more amenities added in the future!

Tent camping not recommended
I would not recommend tent camping on the river site. It is essentially an unmaintained parking lot next to a derelict ball diamond and a community shooting range. While there is access to the river, it is a small area with limited shade. It was a little over the top with the burn pile in the middle of the parking circle, combined with some 'charmin lillies' off to the side and broken glass in what appeared to be the tent area. No water available anywhere I could see. And, if it wasn't obvious, while the parking lot is back from the road there is very little privacy as it is all very open. If you are in a van or camper, or a dirtbag boater like me, it is probably fine for a night on your way to somewhere else. But tent camping with the family - hard no. We left after one night.

No thank you
I was shocked when I arrived and found a gravel parking lot behind a gun range as the "camping spots". There was broken glass and used toilet paper in the "camping area". The pictures on the site were not anything like what we found. I ended up leaving and finding a hotel 45 minutes away on a holiday weekend

Thank you for letting us staying at your property but unfortunately the listing & photos are very deceiving. We followed your great directions to the community hall but didn’t realize we were literally camping next to the baseball field with little river view. After staying, we realized the photos from your listing are all from the mountain top and not from the community hall back lot. When booking, we were under the assumption these dispersed spots all had that gorgeous view from up top.. not camping from basically a parking lot. The area itself was quite but not anything of what we were expecting for the night. For future campers, it would be helpful to show the dispersed sights to better set expectations.

Does NOT disappoint!!
This spot is the whole package. Take advantage of this location as the host is dedicated to creating a welcoming space and is literally making improvements everyday. He just added a sweet little school bus last week and a compost toilet yesterday! The SUPER host is a knowledgeable local who is willing to help troubleshoot, accommodate and support your stay in any way humanly possible. He really is super!! The host and his very playful dog live on the mountain site so it’s not completely private. There is plenty of space and we never felt encroached upon, but I add that detail in case you were planning a romantic getaway or something. It’s perfect for small groups. Note that this location is more per night than the river spot so communicate up front - I ended up paying for the river spot for $25 a night but really should have been paying twice that b/c I ventured up the mountain with my camper and hooked up to water/electricity. It’s a glitch in the HipCamp interface. I highly recommend reserving the mountain location for the views, the excellent hammock opportunities, the breeze and the beautiful woodwork on the upstream-facing bench and table.

Plenty of room, we were the only ones there. The directions said there would be signs, but we didn’t see any
