We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Monkeyflower Ranch. Rebecca and the farm manager, Juan, were very kind and accommodating. Our campsite was nestled into a beautiful oak grove overlooking pastures. We passed through a paddock full of sheep to get there, which was entertaining every time. We rounded out our stay with a farm tour and cheese tasting at the end; we even bought some delicious cheese and yogurt to take home.

Dairy Sheep Farm
We loved our stay at Monkeyflower Ranch and would love to go back! We got what we hoped for:
- a delightful farm stay with sheep, pigs/piglets and chickens
- an interesting farm and dairy tour
- a lovely private campsite up on a hill
- competent and responsive hosts
- not unimportantly, a big jug of potable water and convenient toilet options
And so much more. Rebecca and her team run a wonderful operation. They care deeply for the animals, the land, and the products they are making. It was great to see it in action. We are also enjoying tasting it in action, since we were able to buy delicious yogurt and cheese at their Saturday farm stand. We are very grateful to the Monkeyflower Ranch team for our experience.

Rebecca was an excellent host. This was a spacious, secluded campsite with a spectacular view for stargazing. The farm produces excellent cheese and yogurt. We enjoyed taking the tour and learning about her thoughtful approach to agriculture. Would visit again!

Dairy Sheep Farm
It was a lovely farm stay experience! We enjoyed the private camp site on the top of the hill, its views and the star-gazing. Kids loved playing with the very friendly farm dogs, hanging out with the sheeps and pigs, and playing around the tree house and swings. So glad that we booked the farm tour! Lots of thanks to Rebecca for the hospitality and Juan for the great tour!

We spent 2 nights with our kids (3 and 4 years old) at Monkeyflower Ranch. Rebecca was an excellent host and very responsive both before and during our stay. She drove us up to the site when we checked in and back down when we checked out, answered our questions and was friendly and helpful.
The kids loved the farm, including the farm tour and cheese tasting (recommended). We're glad the kids got to experience it. How often do city kids get to see a working farm with sheep, pigs and chickens?
The two sites at the top of the hill are in an old pasture, so although there's no shelter, it didn't get too hot. We were out and about during the day anyway. Beautiful views at sunrise and sunset especially.
The sites are simple - just a cleared area in the field with a shared compost toilet and a large jug of portable water. Bring your own water, cooking gear and small tables. The only real downside that just comes with the space is noise from the road below. Definitely recommend it for a different camping experience on a farm!

Dairy tour and cheese tasting were great- their cheese is outstanding. Piglets, lambs and chicks thrilled my daughter and as an amateur cheese maker I enjoyed the dairy.
Campsites were private and peaceful, clean and pretty and though there is a smidge of road noise at the lower one, they were quiet. Our hostess was lovely. Overall a great experience- thanks!

We stayed on the concrete platform after the host met us to show us the tent site options. We passed through several gates and and walked through the pasture as it is a working ranch. Now, there’s quite a bit of traffic noise even at night, so bring your earplugs if you’re a light sleeper. We spotted an owl and bats at our site which was cool. We petted the lambs as well and visited the pigs. However, we left the ranch early in the morning and didn’t see our host Rebecca again....we headed for the beaches afterwards!

This camping spot was great! Rebecca greeted us and was super friendly and talkative. She drove us and our gear up to the site, which was at the top of the property, fenced off, very private, and had a beautiful view. We were able to walk back down to our cars if we needed (about a 5 minute walk through a few gates but totally easy) and she offered to set us up with a ride back down in the morning if need be. We felt super safe and woke up to a beautiful sunrise. There was access to a full bathroom in the morning with a sink to wash up, which was great before our long drive. All around great experience, I’d be happy to visit again.

Really enjoyed this place. Nice friendly people, lots of animals to watch. We paid for the tour/cheese and yogurt tasting and are glad we did. Be forewarned however... The camp site is wayyy up a hill. It's nice and private, but you won't be able to pull your car up to the site.

Here’s the break down:
- there’s usually no cell phone service coming around the mountain so I suggest you start your gps navigation prior and take a screen shot of the directions. You know you’re there when you see a large plastic rooster over a mailbox.
- The campsite is on top of the hill where there are not many trees, but there are many flat spots and a beautiful sight of the surrounding mountains. Rebecca was very kind and gracious; she drove us and our gear up the hill. To get there, you have to get through about 3 gates that keep the sheep out of the camping site. Make sure you grab all your gear before the drive up, it’s a lot to walk just to grab your small item. In the morning, we had to carry the gear back down so pack light. There’s a bucket you can use as a bathroom up on the hill.
- It’s truly a unique experience. The animals are adorable and curious. The sheep tried very hard to get out the gates when we were leaving, it was hilarious! Remember this is a farm with sheep, pigs, and chicken. No poop at the campsite but definitely expect some walking down the hill. We enjoyed our stay and definitely recommend others to give it a go.

Overall stay was nice and relaxing. Camped on the hill with a level surface shaded by trees. It is a bit of a walk up through the farm property and the sheeps, also needed to pass through multiple gates (can be a handful if carrying something). We were able to drive up and unload the car a little closer to the campsite. There is no water located at the campsite, we were able to fill up containers at the house faucet/sink. We were also allowed to use one of the guest toilets in the house, since there was only a bucket toilet at the campsite. Note, the bucket toilet description is accurate, it is out in the open and not concealed/protected from the elements. We could hear the cars driving by on the main road during the day, didn't notice much at night. Location was close to the areas we wanted to visit, Elkhorn Slough, beaches, Pt Lobos. Was able to navigate to the areas without running into much traffic on the Hwy 1 during a nice weekend. Would stay here again if doing another multiday trip.

You're on top of the hill they will drive you up to the site from where you park, it's about 4 or 5 blocks. Not a bad walk at all just probably not for Grandma. Rebecca and everyone at the farm are really nice and helpful and all the animals are super chill don't forget to pet the lambs and sheepdogs.

Great and fun location. My 8 year old daughter loved camping there and the dogs, sheep, pigs, lambs and chickens. It was great being on a farm and learning about the sheep milking process. The site would be better if the area was flat and level. Otherwise an awesome experience. Directions were a bit confusing with the larger rooster statue being helpful. Traffic on main road is very fast.

This site was very nice to stay at. All the workers were very friendly and accommodating. The only negative part about our stay was the hike to the more secluded campsite was very steep and very time consuming to get from the car to the site. But the experience and view was great!

Good spot to sleep a night or two in the Monterey area, or if wanting to visit a sheep dairy. We didn't read the description close enough and did not realize the hill/walking to the camp site. It's not a long walk, but not practical for bringing a full camp set-up (we had kitchen and camp chairs, but just set up the tent and went out to eat). Big drawback was the busy highway that runs by the house. We were there on a Saturday night and it was noisy late into the night and early morning - not a 'camping in nature' experience. The kids loved the animals and we loved the cheese, but be aware of what comes along with farm life - poo on shoes and aromas. Host and farm manager were friendly. We liked the experience, but seemed overpriced for what it was.

What a beautiful stay at Rebecca's farm -- an animal lover's paradise. It is a hike up to the camp site, but totally worth the privacy and the views. There is a tree house and swings that my kids could not get enough of. We got to see the sheep milking, feed lambs, sample cheese and yogurt, and had fresh eggs for breakfast. Rebecca was a gracious host, and we would totally recommend staying at her farm.

We stayed at the top of the hill--it was great! We had the hill to ourselves, the views were unbeatable. The next morning we had the farm tour, and learned a lot about how this real and (mostly) organic farm operates, and also tasted some of their cheeses (yummy!). We're planning to return.

Had a wonderful stay at the sheep farm. The campsite was up the hill from the working farm, and was a quiet and private place to set up camp. The actual campground was on a level surface underneath some trees.
The walk from your car to the campsite takes a couple of minutes and requires passing through 2 gates, but once you get there you have the place to yourself. Definitely worth the walk!
The host (Rebecca) was very responsive and gracious. I will definitely come here again when I’m in the area!

It was a great experience for the whole family. Very nice place to camp and alot of fun to see the farm animals, feed and pet them . There isn't an option to park next to the camp area so it was a bit difficult to carry our equipment. That was the only thing I would recommend to change. Other than that it was a very good experience.
