Thoughtfully put together space with lots of loving details. Beautiful garden space close to the ocean which you can hear at night. Do be aware the experience will be a but dependent on who is renting the Airbnb next door just on the other side of the fence. For me, my stay coincided with a large family and it was not the tranquil quiet I was looking for, although I got the impression this is an infrequent occurance.

Our stay at the shack was beautiful. Billy and Valentine were extremely accommodating and the space felt very private considering we are sharing the property ! It is perfectly distanced from all the local sites and hikes, extremely ideal!!! Anyone who is looking for a middle ground between glamping and camping I’d direct them this way.

Valentine and Billy were such warm and welcome hosts! Being walking distance from private beach access was an absolute dream. The camper and back yard was absolutely adorable. And the fire pit kept us nice and toasty at night. We’d love to come back and visit again!!

Stayed for the weekend and had a great time. We did walk to the beach from the shack through the dunes, be prepared for a bit of a trek. Seaside beach is easily accessible and beautiful and is a a few minute drive north. We enjoyed all of the little reading materials and trinkets around the site. It did get chilly at night but the blankets provided were adequate and the candles help. Woke up and enjoyed a nice fire and picked some fresh wild berries for breakfast! Would definitely recommend staying here!

The campfire area next to the shack was great. It's a short (10 min or so) walk from the site through the dunes to the water. The beach was area fantastic. So nice to have the area mostly to yourself. Very peaceful.
It's a quick drive (~8 min) into Ft. Bragg.
Valentine and Billy were very responsive and helpful.
The only downside for some may be no running water. But the outhouse was so nice. You will need an ice chest if you plan on bringing anything to stay cold.

Our family had the most magical stay at the Shroom Shack, which is perfectly, privately situated in an apple orchard in the gorgeous back garden of the hosts, Valentine and Billy, who themselves are delightful people! The vintage trailer is so full of charm, the outhouse is super clean and full of surprises (in a good way), there’s an incredible fire pit to sit by at night and cook over — we grilled (dinner) and roasted (marshmallows) - and the garden is beautifully tended to. It’s also an amazing spot as it is just steps away from expansive sand dunes preserve that is as close to wild ocean as you can get. The love and special touches that Valentine and Billy have put into creating this oasis are unusual and so appreciated. We will be back again...and again!

The camp site is nice and secluded right next to the dunes. Nights are quiet and peaceful. The fire pit was awesome and the Shroom shack itself was great 👍. The hosts Billy and Valentine were very nice. Overall a great experience.

Strongly recommended. The bed is warm, the fire pit is great, the stars and dunes nearby are beautiful. They had a huge water jug ready for us and a fire going when we arrived.
Downtown Mendo is super cute, and Billy had great recs for pizza @ the brickery and ice cream @ Frankies.
Billy also took us on an AMAZING mushroom foraging trip, he taught us, made sure we followed the rules and avoided areas where you need a permit, and we left with 8 pounds of delicious mushrooms.

- Heard the sound of the ocean waves at night.
- The trailer is at about 30-40 feet from the parked car.
- Enjoyed few shooting stars at night as the sky was clear.
- road to fort bragg is winding and goes through mountain, can get nausea-tic.
- some good scenic points around the coast of the ten mile beach, 10 mins drive from the location.
- a local store + gas station that sells firewood is at 5 mins drive to the south.
- access to the ten mile beach is at around 10-15 mins walk. After ~ 5 mins we hit the dunes. Then ~ 10 more mins walk to the water.
- Host is responsive.
- no cellular signal - no wifi in the trailer - new phone picked up wifi outside the trailer at campfire.
- good place to read a book on the hammock.

Dunes Shala is a magical lil’ oasis
Not only were Billy & Valentine such thoughtful and considerate hosts
Everything about this “shala ” holds the Artist’s touch.
We felt we were in a world of our own!
The trailer is cozy, and very sweet. We love the electric blanket and dreamy lighting they provide.
It was so nice to wake up and be able to make our tea and coffee and stare off into nature
Let’s talk about the dunes though!
